I am using the auto-hide feature for the taskbar and every time when there's a change to one of my programs (for example somebody sent me an instant message on my messenger or a program has been downloaded on firefox) the taskbar will automatically appear with the icon of the program glowing in orange. Is there a way to prevent that reappearing action?
I have tried tweaking the registry as well as gpedit.msc but still couldn't.
I wanted to preserve all the features of my taskbar and just stop it from showing up when I hover the bottom of the screen with the mouse (activating it with the windows key instead)

Right now, if I close one, the other open ones "auto minimize" I know this is an option as I've seen it operated the way I want it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and my dvd drive keeps coming and going. The drive is a TSST TS-L633B 12.7 SATA Trayload 8X DVDRW. The pc is a dual core pentium with 3gb ram. When loading a dvd the drive will show up and then shortly disappear. Sometimes it will stay longer but if i pause a dvd it will disappear again and i have to either reboot or open and close the tray to get it to recognize again. I have removed the driver from device manager and i have tried updating the driver with the latest windows 7 drivers from dell with no luck. When i try to flash the drive with the latest the driver it will be there but when opening the flashing program is disappears again. I have even gone the route of getting a replacement drive from dell and it does the same exact thing.I have gone and tried the upperfilters and lowerfilters and that did no change either. I have checked the bios and the drive shows up in the bios.

The user account was created to delete a password on another administrator account.I can run 'control userpasswords2' and delete the account, I can delete the account the normal way in User Accounts Control Panel, but each time I reboot, the account reappears. When I delete the account I can log off and log back on without seeing the deleted account. It's when I reboot that I have the problem.

Once it was empty I deleted it but every time I open my internet browser it pops up again. I am using Mozilla Firefox and have checked the download settings but this folder is not named in any path that I can see. I also checked WMP but it doesn't appear there either. The only other program I used this folder with was Movavi to convert the video files to MP4 but it's not showing up there either.

Similarly, I have on numerous occasion deleted files and done some cleaning-up (primarily 'My Documents') to no real success because they all come back after having attached my external.I do not perform a Back-up /or/ Sync anything. I simply connect my external via USB in order to locate a saved document already on the external from previous. This is all I do and at some point (not sure if it is after the next reboot or when exactly) but, all deleted docs reappear.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.
Why Windows won't apply my updates. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I attempt to install my updates but after refreshing the Windows Update program it says they installed successfully but is still offering the the same updates. I've ran Microsoft FixYa from their website to no avail. The updates giving me problems are:

I have a windows7 home laptop and a Windows XP desktop.There are connected through a wireless modem. For ages the laptop could find the desktop no worries, and then for the last month or so, the desktop disappears and reappears from the network on the laptop. At the moment I can't find the desktop from the laptop.I have gone ahead and created the same workgroup name for both computers but this has not resolved the issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.

That said, He can not pin anything to taskbar or start menu. I cleared both folders of shortcuts(567 of them) but to no avail. He also has no options under his desktop Context menu for New. He is also using a roaming profile, of which I will disable next time I am there. I have a feeling that might be the issue. I did scour the internet trying all the usual suggestions, but do vaguely remember something about an entry in cache somewhere that if it is too big or corrupt, it could cause this behavior. I am unable to find that post anywhere now.I mention the network card because one post had taskbar issues until he disabled his faulty network card. I have disabled the faulty network card.

When I was done playing it for good, I uninstalled it and it looked like the icon was off the taskbar, but it wasn't. When I tried to put another program onto the taskbar, called minecraft_server.jar, it pinned to the Spiral Knights icon, even though SK isn't installed anymore. Wherever I try to put the minecraft_server.jar onto the taskbar, the SK program is still there, and it says if I want to pin the minecraft_server.jar onto SK.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, the task bar and Start button mysteriously disappeared.I've also found that the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" windowdoesn't come up. There are two places to click on in Control Panelthat should bring up this window, but it doesn't. The Control Panelborder changes color as if something is starting to happen, but thennothing happens, possibly indicating that some program starts to runbut then finds something wrong and exits. I didn't see anythinginteresting in the error logs. The desktop icons appear normally.The problem exists only when logging onto my son's account.
