How Do I Report A Bug With High DPI To Microsoft ?
Dec 18, 2009
I believe I have found a bug in Windows 7 which makes high DPI (150%) virtually unusable, how do I report this bug to Microsoft?
Also could someone else test this on their Windows 7 to see if it is just my setup or maybe an NVidia bug.
Here are the steps to repeat the bug. Ensure you are running Aero Go to Display->Change DPI to 150% Log Off->Log On Open a non DPI aware program such as Itunes, Spotify, Vuze, VLC, Chrome (NOT FireFox, Explorer, Outlook) Try to drag the window around or resize the window When I do this on a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium (64bit) with all latest drivers/updates I get very unstable mouse flicker as shown here.
I have reported the bug to NVidia here with of course no reply but I want to find out from ATI users whether it affects their machines.
I even emailed Steven Sinofsky (President of Windows) and he said "its something your end" which made me laugh, at least he replied I guess.. more than I was expecting.
Anyway all help appreciated I really want to be able use Windows 7 on my projector, many thanks. if it is not present on ATI I will buy one tomorrow!
For the past while, I've been getting an error report pop-up regarding .NET Framework. It happens approximately 20min after starting my computer. The pop-up states:
Code: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Now, there doesn't seem to be any critical effect of this error. Whether I choose Quit or Continue doesn't have any overt effect. Here is the information under the "Details" for the error:See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Ok I am sitting here watching taskmanager, winword.exe is hovering between 10-11% cpu usage (with it now in background idle) and 20% or more when I do activity in a winword window. This seems abnormal a word processor needs so much cpu power even when just sitting idle, to give you an idea 10% on my current cpu would probably equate to about 80% on my laptop's celeron which is absurb for a word processor.I currently have 10 documents open, it seems to use about 1% per document, all documents are text only and average 1 page long.
I just installed windows 7 ultimate sp1 - Like the title says I'm seeing 35% cpu usage with nothing going on. I googled around and ran traces to see which driver it was, turned out the ahci driver was doing it. The USB driver showed similarly high latency but that can be delt with later. Most forums recommend upgrading your drivers but this problem has stayed constant both with microsoft's stock drivers for everything and after running windows built in search for drivers even after I manually grabbed the latest drivers for everything. url...BIOS is up to date4 GB RAM - Corsair something or otherEVGA Geforce 8800 GT450W psu1 DVD burner (sata)5 hard drives (sata) plugged into all but the first sata port because that caused nothing but headaches for me. Update - switching from AHCI to IDE in BIOS fixed the problem.

I work in tech support and I have a user that cannot play content on some sites (in particular iheart.com when trying to access 100.5 The KATT)and pulling pictures from oklahomapartypics.com.
--The KATT simply will not play. There is no error. --Oklahomapartypics.com displays an error that says:
"Unable to retrieve images. Please be sure that you are using a modern browser such as IE7+, Firefox 3.5+, Safari 3+ or Google Chrome. If you continue to get this error, please report error code (Images-1B). parseerror SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unterminated string"
This error comes up on all browsers from just this one computer. The computer is not believed to be infected (this issue was reported about 2 days after it was received brand new from Dell and configured for the user).
So for I have attempted the following:
-- reinstall the browsers -- access the sites from different/brand new local and domain profiles -- access the sites with the firewall/McAfee disabled -- complete removal/installation of .net 3.5/4 -- complete removal/installation of Silverlight -- complete removal/installation of Java -- ran sfc -- used msconfig to disable everything that was not absolutely required
I know the JSON error is javascript error, but javascript is browser dependent not system dependent. The fact that this happens even on a portable operating system indicates that this is related to a system resource that is shared by both browsers. Research turned up information indicating that json.dll variants are also installed by .Net 3.5/4 and Silverlight utilizes the .net framework.
how to use Windows 7 to diagnose system sleep problems : Page - 1/1, while searching for ways to fix my crashing to blue screen after bringing windows out of sleep problem, and it tells you how to generate an energy report that can diagnose windows sleep issues.
I successfully generated the report, but when i was able to locate it, when i go to open it, it's set to open with internet explorer, so it just pops up the browser to the home page.
Its an HTML document, wanted to try to open it with notepad but i dont know how to do it from that location.
Someones gotta know how to do this!
OK i entered the hexus site as a link, but it changed it to that whole description deal of it, dont know why it did that....
I generated a system health report and notice in the basic system checks in the hardware device and driver check the result is failed.
I have updated my bios to the latest and installed all of the drivers available from hp for my system for windows 7 64 bit. Anything I should be concerned about?
Dell recently installed software. The function behavior is eratic. I need to know the function of the Privacy report icon thaat appears on my task bar without my prompt for this action.
Since Jan-Feb of this year I have encountered the following issue while trying to play games on my laptop.
Abnormally High CPU Usage Extremely low FPS - After 5-20 Mins of play. Extremely High latency to servers - from 300 - 900 after 5 - 20 mins of play.
The thing is all of these started 1 year after I been using this laptop, after a full year of everything running flawlessly all these issues kicked in after I performed a clean install in Jan., I even performed one in Feb. and one 3 weeks ago
Here are my specs:

I tried to upgrade from Vista (64bit) to Windows 7 and it got up to generating compatibility Report - which was completely blank. The only way to proceed was to hit 'Close' - which then cancelled the installation!
Previous to this, I had also tried to download & run the Upgrade Advisor. When trying to run it, it just did nothing at all - didn't even open up. I disabled my Kaspersky anti-virus and disabled any Windows security. I was trying to avoid doing a clean install - but maybe only option. Any ideas?
I turned on my PC. Windows 7 said 'Windows failed to Load'. I remember something about a system file was corrupted and Windows 7 was attempting to fix it. After about 10 mins it started up. I believe that the pc restored itself to a previous state. I would like to find out what caused the need to restore the machine in the first place. So, Does Windows 7 keep a log/report that holds any information that I can look at?
In system upgrade won't run, it report it can not install 64 bit on 32bit and vice versa.I know 100% it is a Windows 7 pro x64 version and computer properties also claims this. The history is that a week ago I notice most updates has fails since 17 june 2011,But now I get notificed! I tryed to download these MS update fixes, I tried to clean update history etc. But update keeps failing. I read Binck turial 3413 about using in system upgrade to repair, I have the original install DVD. But the upgrade reports I cannot install 64 bit on 32 bit and vice versa, actually both message in the x64 try.I tryed disable all non MS services using msconfig including my NOD32 antivirus doing the in system upgrade. I have loads of programs it will take many hours to reinstall and configur all programs to put data on a separate partion as I require.
I am having serious corruption problems with my hard drive. I have reinstalled windows a few times now, but it always ends up being unable to boot. At the moment, my computer cannot even boot up in normal or safe mode, all my restore points have been deleted, and startup repair cannot do anything. After backing up my data and running a test with the Seagate SeaTools diagnostics in DOS, it was reported that there were bad sectors found on my Hard Disk. But I actually can't use this software to repair the bad sectors tough since it's a Western Digital drive. Is there any software that I could download to repair these bad sectors, or am I going to have to replace
I uninstalled my old driver to update them and when I open the catalyst installer, I only get to choose install location and when I click install button it loads really fast to about 3/4's full then crashes with no error report given.
So I enter the pin to connect to windows media center, that goes through fine, and it starts contacting on my Xbox and just as it's about to "configuring your extender" it cuts off and displays "Windows media center has encountered an error while trying to configure your computer with this extender". I checked event viewer and the error is as follows:-Media Center Extender Setup cannot create an account for the Extender with ID: uuid:10000000-0000-0000-0200-0025AE2444B5.Error: The system cannot find the file specified.
P.S Tried with all Xbox 360 port forwarding set to open for those relevant ports. Certificate deleted. Network services set up correctly. Firewall been turned off. No anti virus enabled. I've been getting the "Windows not genuine" message popping up for several months on a 2 -year old home built system (I bought & activated a genuine copy of Windows 7). I've included the MGADiag report below. I've recently reactivated Windows using the Microsoft phone number but that didn't help. The lack of windows updates is now becoming a major problem!.I see in the report below there are several "tampered files".A Kaspersky virus/malware scan reports no problems. [code]
Am getting internal error 2908 during installation of CRRedist2008_x86.msi even i deleted mscoree.dll in system32 folder but same is displaying. The OS am using is windows 7 32-bit
been awhile since i been here but im back sadly and worried...So ima explain best i can what i did that maybe caused the BSOD. First off my cpu is OC but barely and no voltage changes and has been that way for 3 or so months. By default it runs at 3.8Ghz and i just OC it to 4.0Ghz and its been running that way fine for months and its made to be OC way more so i highly doubt its that. 2nd. I do have dameon tools and i see alot of ppl say that can cause it but again, its been on pc 4 ever and never had no issues with it and it rarely gets used but it still does get used here and there.3rd. I installed some codecs yesterday to try to get sony vegas to read a video and i probably installed 3 different codecs and some were named the same and it was the coded for a h264 or something like that, i already uninstalled that.
4th. No major changes have been made to pc, no recent windows updates, program installs or nothing has been done. Only thing i did most recently yesterday was upgraded a widget for reading GPU and its called GPU meter.5th. Finally and im scared this might be the issue is i noticed on sony vegas ( video editing program ) that it likes to max out all my cores and i noticed the temps reached 90-94 on my cpu which really scared me but ive only used this program twice but i was thinking maybe it was damaging my cpu but not sure. The last thing i was doing when it BSOD was i had a video uploading to facebook and firefox was open and a little dialoge box telling me how far video was done and apparently it got finished and i went to get drink and came back and BSOD was up and the pc didnt auto restart like it did before, had to force shutdown and restart.

I am taking an online college course. When answering questions we were advised to first type our answers into micrsoft word and then copy and paste into the website. The school website only has basic spell check that is the reason for copy and pasting.I have Word 2010 and Windows 7.
