View 5 Replies View RelatedI've started to use my old laptop as our main one is currently broken down, sadly I have forgotten my administrator password on my laptop and can't access the files originally saved in that area nor do I have the privileges of using the administrator account.Another mistake is that I do not have a password reset key, or what ever it is called. So I have no idea on how to access my account.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi have three users on my start up page 2 administrators and 1 standard user. For the 2 administrators users i have forgotten the passwords. For the standard user i still have access to and can logon to the HDD but can not access any program files or even do any windows up dates due to USER ACCOUNT CONTROL i've been trying to access threw COMMAND PROMPTS but im not too familiar with the prompts terminology. and have gotten very frustrated with the CMD PROMPTS i know that if i can access threw the CMD i can remove the password for one or both of the administrator accounts an reset them threw the user accounts in the control panel i just cant seem to get past the UAC asking for my administrator password (WHICH I HAVE FORGOTTEN) nor can i seem to master the CMD PROMPTS either. also i no longer have the windows 7 disc which i used to install windows on the HDD.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to learn a little about how Win 7 works...so I'm starting from scratch, so-to-speak.What I've done thus far & what info I am seeking:I've looked at all the tutorials I can find here on the BC site and even tried typing a query in the search box, but have been unable to find any instructions which explain how to create a password for the Windows 7 default Administrator account (or even a separately-created Administrator account).(The tutorials I have already reviewed indicate the Win 7 default Administrator account is by default...disabled (on a new computer, I'm guessing), and after going through the multi-step process of enabling the Admin account, it is recommended the user secure the account with a strong password).

View 2 Replies View Relatedi did'nt do anything specific to make it happen, but all of a sudden i can't acces all those "my" files in my documents anymore, you know "my picture" "my music", all of those files. the icon is a little faded and shows a lock on it. when i try to acces it it sais "acces denied" (in my language). i can still acces all files i created myself though. also, a few days later, i all of a sudden have a stndart administrator account.i know that it is standard because my account is removable but the account "administrator" is not. now i would like to know how i could regain acces to my files, or even better remove to administrator account and turn my account back to the standard administrator account.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy real issue is that I forgot my User password for the only, and hence, Administrator account on my laptop. I was going to try and do a system recovery from my Sytem Image back up, but I can't access the System Repair boot menu without the password.Alternatively, any information for reseting/removing an Administrator User account password for Windows 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI set up a program to "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" by right clicking on the program .exe (and/or the program Shortcut) and checking the "run as administrator" option under the compatability tab...to see if the program would run any better.
After evaluation, I decided that the "run as administrator" option was probably not necessary for the program, so I went in and removed the checkbox....thinking that the program would no longer use the "run as administrator" option.
I was evidently wrong, or I did something wrong, because the program still shows the little "administrator" shield thingy on the icon, and it still gives me a popup verifying that I want it run as administrator.
I tried this with several different programs, and I get the same thing...when I want to remove the administrator privs, the program still pops up and asks to run as administrator.
Am I going about this the wrong way?? or am I missing something here??
I "skipped" Vista and went right to Windows 7 x64 Ultra from XP, and I have for the most part been very happy with the new OS. I am still getting a feel for it though.
Examples: I was trying to solve a problem with the game Left-4-Dead..so I took some advice from these forums and "ran as administrator". I have since solved the problem, and I would like to stop running the program as administrator.
I cant ever remember entering an administrator password in my Windows 7 acount names with a password. But it keeps coming up with an administrator name and asks for an administrator password. Can one be retreived or what other bypasses are there if any without rebooting.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new HP laptop which included Windows 7 Home & Premium. I did the install, however, I do not remember during the install asking me to create the Administrator ID along with a password. I did create the Recovery Disks, but have not yet rebooted. When is the Administrators ID created? I do remember seeing an ID that may have been the default Administrator ID (Rick-PC). But I don't remember typing a password. If so, what are my options to either create an Administrator ID and a password? Or if it was created, can I find out what the password was or change it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have forgotten my Administrator password. I have tried a couple of the free password crackers, but no luck. Also tried the command net user, with no luck; I get the "Access Denied" message whenever I try this. I've looked at a lot of the threads here, but they all seem to be just a little bit different. All I have access to is this other user profile, and I can't install anything on it without the Admin password. I have the Windows DVD, and have tried a boot repair, but it tells me that the OS is booting correctly (which it is). Where to from here ? It's wasted a helluva lot of time, and I just seem to be going round in circles. How can I give this profile I am using Admin rights ? Don't seem to be able to do anything without the Admin password.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Home Premium, 32bit. I used System Tools and did a Disk Cleanup. However, when I tried to boot it up after the process, it asked for my Administrator Password. Why we have to have an Administrator User Account, I have no idea--especially when you can't get into it. I don't remember putting a password on for the Administrator Account. I have another User Account that I can get on the computer with, but I have pictures, videos, documents, etc. on the Administrator Account that I now cannot recover. Is there anything I can do, other than reinstalling Windows?
