I have a Sony Vaio Z laptop which came with a 500GB Toshiba hard drive. I replaced this original Toshiba hard drive with a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB Hybrid Drive. But I am not able to restore system on new hard drive. It copies all the files and gives error at the end. Same thing happens when I try installing Win 7 from DVD.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy friend's laptop (Acer Aspire One 722 - Windows 7 x64) has been shut down after opening an email and Windows never started up again. When you attempt to start up the windows, it stays the black screen and says "No bootable Device Found"! I inserted Windows Live Disk and loaded it (Windows XP Mini - Golden Edition). When I went to "My Computer", it did not show any local drive. I went to "Disk Management" and in there, there was also no unallocated or allocated space. I even removed the HDD and plugged it back in. No thing happened. Then I removed the RAM card and inserted it back. Again, nothing happened! By the way, HDD had movements when laptop was on (I had removed the beneath panel).I inserted Windows 7 Disk to install a fresh Windows 7. But when you get to the part where it asks you to choose the partition to install the operating Sustem, it shows one unallocated drive with 0 (Zero) capacity! The options to Delete and format are disable. Only the option "New" is active and it gives you (0) bite to partition!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VPCEA44FX (how stupid of me to buy a discontinued model >.<) and it won't start It get's to that Windows screen with the colorful flag thing, stays for 5-7 minutes, then bam...BSOD and then it tries to restart, but then before it gets to the Windows start up screen, it says "Operating System not found."I had a problem with this computer before, and I took it to the Sony place to fix it and it was fine. I remember some of the things the tech guy told me on the phone before I brought it in though.I tried to start in Safe Mode With Networking, but it won't work. The last file is starts was CLASSPNP and it just freezes there, it won't start at all.
I turned on my laptop and held F2. I tried to restore my laptop with factory settings, but that did absolutely nothing. Now I think I lost all my pictures and stuff now. When I restarted my computer I got an option 'Boot with Windows Repair' (I THINK that's what it said...I'll fix that later). I tried all those options (even opening the command prompt lol) and nothing. 'Startup Repair' failed. I went to the details and the most seemingly helpful line was on the bottom it said "Root cause found: A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding." Right now it's sitting in 'Advanced Boot Options' cause idk what to do now...

While window black screen is running a blur box window comes up stating hard disk security in this screen it state it is locked. The only way to get out of this screen is to hit esc the only thing working is the F2 I can use this change settings what ever. However, none of the F12 recovery will complete.

I have few questions on Windows 7 Upgrade. Currently I'm using windows vista home premium 64 bit and I bought an windows 7 home premium 64 bit upgrade disk.
first thing is I want to format my previous operating system and all the data in my laptop and install windows 7 in it using the Upgrade disk.
second thing is I don't have my vista installation disk with, my laptop was pre-installed with vista so in future if I want to switch can I get back VISTA using system restore.
third is can i install windows 7 on a new hard disk using a windows 7 Upgrade disk?
I don't know what is my problem because is not the first time that usb external hard drive is working fine until get damage and said " it need to be formatted " and lost all the INFO because I have to format again the disk to be usefull. Also it is not the same hard disk.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI migrated from a 250 GB HDD to a 500 GB. I had around 230 GB of information wich I really didn't want to loose, so I cloned the old HDD to the new one with the software Acronis True Image Home.
Apparently, the cloning succeds, but when I disconnect the old Disk and try to boot from the new one, when I log on I get stuck in "preparing your session".
Windows 7 64bit has popped up saying it has detected a HDD problem, I need to back up my files immediately. I installed a new 2TB HDD (Samsung HD204UI) a couple of months ago, surely it shouldn't be failing already? This is my secondery disk. Is this by any chance a malware or virsus playing tricks on me?
