HP Pavilion Dv5-1004nr
All but 1 drivers were installed for the HP Pavilion dv5-1004nr. The only driver that was missing was the ENE CIR infra-red received. Since it is a Microsoft e-home InfraRed received I think that the driver should be included by default. However, I managed to make it work by installing the Vista driver available.

Touch Screen Issue: Touch Recognized On Wrong Side Of Screen
So I have a small 10" touch screen  as a secondary screen and it is recognized and installed when I plug it in the computer. My problem is that the actual touching is severly misplaced and I can not use the calibration tool (Tablet PC Settings in control panel) to correct this problem. It is as if the vertical and horisontal inputs of the screen has been swapped. If I touch the right side on the screen and drag my finger to the left I can see the cursor go from the top to the bottom and if I touch the top and drag down the cursor goes from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen. Installing the drivers from the manufacturer of the touch controller, http://www.eeti.com, did not help at all. It just says there are no touch controllers connected to my computer. Is there a way I can correct this problem?

Touch Screen Problem - Win 7 Wont Recognize Touch Screen
I have the following problem: Windows 7 don't recognize my touch screen. It all started when my harddrive crashed, and I had to replace it. - the old drive had a pre-installed vista on it, including a HP recovery drive (2 partitions). Since I didn't have any CD/DVD with windows on, i downloaded WIN 7 RC. The installation went without problems - great operating system by the way. The only problem is that it didn't find the touchscreen. I've searched everywhere but can't find any drivers. I can open "tablet PC" via control panel, and I all so get the "calibrate screen" and "configure - setup". But when I tab the screen to set it as a touchscreen nothing happens. The display options says: "Nvidia default flat panel" and in "screen resolution - monitor - monitor type" i is set to generic PnP monitor. I found here on technet (see link below) that you can force windows to set up as a tablet pc via regedit : "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsTablet PC - Change the values in DeviceKind and IsTabletPC to 1" - this dosen't work - I get the following message; " cannot edit DeviceKind / IsTabletPC: error writing the valvue's new content" There is no drivers on HP's website. The computer is a HP PAVILLION entertainment PC tx 1000 (tx1151ea)? how do i get the touchscreen to work.

HP DV5-1002US Performance
Nework connectivity is frequently questionable with frequent disconnects. Tonight I got a BSOD....something I haven't seen since my Windows XP days years ago. In the past 5 days of execution I also had a critical Kernel exception. Waiting for the next set of patches...but I may have to uninstall Windows 7 and move to WIndows XP if this does not resolve soon. I need a stable system and Windows 7 is less stable on this system then Vista has been.

Install On HP DV5 1251nr
I've got a HP DV5 1251 nr laptop. Came with Vista. Has a D:Recovery partition. I did the upgrade install last Friday. Took 3.5 hours. Went smooth. But now I want to do the clean install. I have the Family Home Premium version of 7. My question is; will I be able to pass the compliance check now that I have Win 7 and am basically reinstalling 7. Also, what do I do with my Vista Recovery Partition? Leave it alone? Is the recovery partition involved with the compliance check? I do have a 3DVD set of downloaded HP Recovery discs as well. Also if anyone knows about the SwSetup Directory that has all the HP Software - should I use that or just look for all the HP Win 7 components that apply.

HP DV5 Laptop - Driver Issues
Windows 7 installed without a hitch. After installation of Windows Vista 32-bit drivers it functions perfectly. It appears to be a very peppy system with really neat improvements. Windows One Care live won't install because it does not view Windows 7 as a 'verifiable Microsoft Windows' Operating system. I have been a part of the Windows Feedback Panel for at least 4 maybe 5 years. When Vista was in Beta testing I was chosen by Microsoft to be part of that group. Unfortunately in my view I was testing Vista on a Machine that ran Windows XP very well but was not capable of Hardware rigors of running Windows Vista. I have tried for about the last six months to become part of the Beta testing for Windows 7, especially because I think I might have a better idea of what to do.

HP Pavillion Dv5 1388 N Audio Problem
I purchased an HP Pavillion dv-5 1388n Entertainment Notebook PC. It came with Vista Home, and was deemed compatible for the Windows 7 upgrade, to Home Premium. I received the upgrade disc and installed it this past weekend. The install went smoothly with no errors during the 2+ hour process. All apps worked fine, but I discovered that I can hear no system sounds or play any audio via I-Tunes or Windows Media Player. I have checked the sound properties and all is fine. There are no updates needed for anything and I have tried updating my drivers. I even uninstalled the drivers and restarted the laptop to allow the laptop to find the correct drivers. When I try to play any audio file I get an error "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". I tried to update the media and have even tried to download VLC Media Player with no success.

No Program Bar
Interesting error. When I get up in the morning I discover the windows bar at the bottom will not show. Once I bring up the task manager via ctrl-alt-del, then close it out, the bar will show again with no further problems. This is a consistent error. I do not let the computer go to sleep. This is Version 6.1.7100 Build 7100 however I have seen this happening since I loaded Windows 7 a week ago.

Explorer 8 Status Bar
I was trying to find out the meaning of the messages that appear on the lower left of the Internet Explorer 8 windows (in the status bar). I was visiting a site (pcguide.com) and I got a weird icon in that spot. I am worried I might have picked up a nasty bug from that site, because I had a hard time closing it (windows kept popping up).

Boot Screens - Vista Bar
I have installed 7 on my desktop. When i boot i get that new funky glowing logo. which is nice. Now, when i install it on my acer one netbook i get the old drab vista bar. Now would i be right in assuming that its something to do with the graphics card on the machines? If not can anyone point me in the right direction. Its not a problem to me im just curious as to why its done that.

How Can I Place New Programs On The Start Bar ?
I'm trying to figure this out. I use programs that are not on my local disc, but on a network, on windows servers. I created a shortcut and placed it on my desktop, but now I wan't to have those next to the start button. I am unable to drag them to there, because a red symbol shows up that contains a round and a line through it. When I open the program i normally see "Pin to start menu", but not with this. It only gives me the option to close it.

Title Bar Positioned Off The Screen
When using multiple monitors, I often get problems with windows being positioned such that the title bar is off the top of the screen so you can't drag the window back in to play. I've used multiple monitors on many different PCs since 1999 and always had this problem - though it definitely seems to be exacerbated now by the fact that I hibernate the laptop when moving it between home and work, and my secondary monitors at home and work are different resolutions.

Disabling Language Bar Via Registry
Because my locale is Portugal, the language bar appears on the taskbar. This is something my enterprise didn't want, so I needed to disable it for all user. For this to work you'll need to: .: Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftCTFLangBar] .: If LangBar key doesn’t exist, create it .: Inside LangBar create a new DWORD called “ShowStatus" .: Set the ShowStatus value to 3 Of course that to apply this to all users, you should create a script (ex.: vbscript) loading the Default User hive.

Office 2007 Ribbon Bar
In Windows 7 you have the ability to drag a maximized window by the title bar to restore it, etc. This feature does not work with Office 2007 applications that utilize the new Ribbon bar. I'm guessing this is because of the way the application creates the ribbon bar, it actually overwrites and hides the real application title-bar. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a Windows 7 fix or does there need to be an Office 2007 fix?
