HP DV6700 Tx Laptop
Does anyone has tried successfully installing Windows 7 on HP dv6700 laptop? Does it work? I am asking because HP is not officially supporting it on all laptops (including this one).

Installing Win7 On HP Pavilion Dv6700
I have an HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. Im planning to install Windows 7. I am a member of the IEEE Computer Society, and have an account in IEEE and the Computer Society which is a MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center. I downloaded Windows 7 Professional (x86). Then unzip the file and run the setup, but i could only get to the Upgrade or Custom page of the installation. Tried to do both and just get a message box that says that the installation couldn't be done, and that I should check the Set Association in Control Panel, so I think there is a file that doesn't know what program use to open it. I searched in the Internet and found an article telling that in order to upgrade Vista to 7 I should have the SP2 installed, so I downloaded the SP2 for Vista and installed it. Then I tried again to install Win 7, but it just do the same thing as before. I burned the setup files to a DVD. I run it when turning on the laptop to boot from the DVD. On the screen appears some information about the laptop, then stay still on "A:". And I get stuck there as I don't know what commands I should use to begin the installation. I've got some questions about it. Does the version of Vista have something to do with it? Can I only install a specific edition of 7 on my laptop, or I can install any edition on it? Does the 'burn to DVD' have a specific burning settings, like set from the DVD burner program to be a boot disc? How should the boot installation must be? Is there any command I should put? System Information about my laptop: -Windows Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 2 -Hewlett-Packard -Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC (it appears in HP webpage as dv6926nr) -Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz -RAM: 3.00 GB -System type: 32-bit Operating System

Extended Monitor From Laptop Doesn't Default Laptop When Unlocked
I have my HP 8530 docked on an HP docking station which has an external monitor connected to it. I extended my desktop between the 2 and made the external monitor the primary display. When i un-dock the laptop it does not auto change this and make the laptop screen the default again so all i can see is the extended portion of the laptop. Is this a feature or a glitch?

HP Laptop Upgrade
I have a HP dv5 Series laptop. I wish to upgrade from Vista Basic 32 to Windows 7 32. However, the upgrade lists out certain issues like SCSI/RAID Host controller and keyboard filter(among others),as potential issues. What should I do to resolve these issues, and where do I go to find resources needed for the solution? Also,is it necessary to uninstall services like Catalyst manager, and UT3 and reinstall them,or can I just leave 'em there, install Windows 7 and then update these programs?

Connect Laptop With TV
My computer is Dell Vostro 1400. When I used Vista system, I used to connect my computer to the TV and it worked. But after I installed Windows 7, the TV cannot detect the PC signal when I connect it to my computer. I have tried to right click the desktop; select screen resolution; click "detect", but it did not work. I do not know any more information you need to help me now, but you can ask me the information you need and I will find it for you.

Win7 Laptop Can See XP By IP, Not By Name
I've read a lot of threads about Windows 7 servers not being able to see XP servers, but didn't see a lot of clear resolution to the issue. Just got a new notebook with Win 7 Pro (32 bit). I cannot get it to see our office file server by name (633D). However, it can see it fine by IP address (192.168.0.103). What should I look at first?

Laptop Overheating
I bought my Lenovo Y510 only about a couple months ago. I was forced to buy it with Windows Vista, which I did not want to do. Now, I've upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. I had to backup all my data and reinstall fresh. Ever since I installed Windows 7 my laptop has been running extremely hot. My fan is running harder than it ever has. Also, Windows 7 keeps telling me that I should "consider replacing my battery", which is ridiculous because everything worked fine until I installed Windows 7 Professional. My fan isn't dirty, I've tried adjusting power settings, there's no downloadable packages/drivers on the Lenovo website. I'm running an Intel Core Duo CPU 32-bit. Oh and also Flash video makes my computer run hard and sometimes crashes it. This didn't happen on my Vista Home Premium.

Laptop Is Downloading Something Itself From Somewhere
Yeah, My laptop is downloading from somewhere.. and I don't like it.. I can tell because, I have a wireless light that flashes.. and when it flashes really fast, it means it's downloading.. but I really don't have anything that I am downloading.. It's just doing it on it's own and I'm sure I haven't got any program doing it.. It happens at random times & goes on for at least 20 minutes, sometimes longer Is there any program I can download where I can stop my network card from downloading from a certain IP address or place.. like disable it from downloading from anywhere..?

Is Windows 7 The Same For Laptop And PC ?
Just wondering if there are any differences? Another thing I was wondering... Is the windows license limited to 1 computer only?? I've never had a genuine version of windows before (tut tut), but I always assumed if you bought a lisence, you could use it on more than 1 computer (I have a laptop and 2 PC's)... If it is limited, can I buy a second license cheaper?

Laptop Blue Screens
Ok i got one of those store bought laptops that comes with vista basic and a whole bunch of mess and non-needed partitions. So i decided to just install windows 7 over the top. I started the install app, deleted all the partitions and created a new one using all the unallocated space. Then i installed windows 7 to the new partition. It installed fine, booted for the first time, i was tired so i shut it down and went to bed. The next morning i turned it on it looked like it was booting fine but then it went straight to start up repair, the start up repair went for about 30 minutes and said no solution could be found. I tried a couple more times, every time the start up repair would take longer to say the same thing, until it simply started blue screening shortly after "Starting Windows". So i decided to try reinstalling over the top, i put the installation disk in started the setup it loaded files and said "Starting Windows" shortly after it blue screened. So now i had no clue what was happening, i managed to get into start up repair somehow, don't remember, and got into command prompt, from there i formatted the partition deleting all files on the disk. I then tried to boot to check if the format was successful and it said no bootmgr etc was found, so i determined the hard-drive was now clean. So i put the installation disk in and booted from it, same thing loaded files, "Starting Windows", blue screen. I have no clue what is going on here and would appreciate any help, i am beginning to think it is a hardware error og some sort.

Toshiba Laptop Problem
I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 that i just purchased a couple weeks ago. Every few days I keep getting the blue screen that warns me it's about to shut down to prevent damage to my computer or something...i can never read the entire message, it comes and goes so fast. When I turn the computer back on, I keep getting various messages. Mostly that windows explorer has stopped working, MOM.exe application error, Microsoft.NET app error, my virus protection app error, so on and so on. These messages all pop up around the sametime. Some are even file corruption messages. Once i'm able to run a disk scan all that goes away....for a few days and then it starts over again.

Laptop With No DVD Drive
As the title says, my laptop's DVD drive seems to have failed. I'd like to clean install Windows 7 from my portable HDD, but since I can't boot from USB, was womdering what options I might have. Right now, I'm wondering if I can install to a partition from within my Vista partition. Is that possible? It seems to me that when I previously installed Vista, that the reboots would be a factor.

Freezes On Desktop And Laptop
my desktop runs great after a fresh install of Windows 7 + latest drivers. Then all of a sudden it freezes but not completely. What I mean is it will freeze for about 20 seconds and then the mouse will move for about 2 seconds and then freeze for 20 more seconds. After a reboot the fun begins. It might lock up when you see the windows 7 colors or it might make it past the login but when you try to select anything it will freeze again. Safe mode...same thing, last known config.... same thing. I reinstall windows 7 and all the drivers again and everything works great again. It can go for 1 day or 3 days but after that first lock it I have to reinstall. I install my Vista Ultimate 64 and my PC runs great again. I thought it was a driver issue or hardware but why does it last for 1 day or 3? Then the kicker, exact same thing is happening to my laptop right now. In safe mode I get the same thing. If I can get logged in I then click on the start bubble and after waiting roughly 5 mins I get a pop up that is titled "Microsoft Windows" and in the box is says "The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait. Do you want to end the process. If you end process everthing disappears except for the back ground. Right now I'm typing this up under a fresh install of windows 7 on my Deskop, self built and gamer. ASUS mobo, AMD 3.1ghz dual core. Creative X-Fi sound, ATI 4890 video, 2 Raptors in RAID0, 2nd HD is a 500GB western digital. I'm at a lost. Why does my PC work great until that first lock up? That first lock up happens randomly or so it seems, I could be gaming or just brousing the web. But after the first lock it also seems to get worse. First reboot after lock up I can click on a few things and move around and then bam, lock up! reboot and now I can't do anything, I try to click on something and nothing happens. I reboot again and nothing. My laptop and desktop run fine when I run Vista ultimate 64. I have Vista installed on another hard drive for my laptop but on my desktop its all on the same equip. My laptop ran fine for the last week and a half. I use it at work and run the Cisco IP Phone and I have been using it with Virtual XP mode to run cisco's VPN software, up until tonight it was running great. First lock up and now the same as my desk top. I'm typing this on my desktop now after a fresh install. I'm done and hopefully this is easy to understand, I'm beat so sorry for the bad spelling. Why does it run great until the first lock up? Laptop or Desktop.

Laptop To Big Screen TV
I just recently had a computer crash. I previously had vista and after the crash my comp was switched over to windows 7..since then anytime i wanna have volume for anything I have to restart my comp. but the main issue and reason I am asking this ? is the fact that I used to be able to download or live stream movies onto my laptop and using a cord hook my laptop to my big screen tv . since getting windows 7 I have been unable to do this! all I get is a blank black screen on my tv . I believe the problem is I have outdated drivers and am not able to update them until the end of october when windows 7 is officially released and the drivers are relaeased as well. I have been waiting months already and HATE having to spend money to rent movies that I used to get for free all day!! am I correct? will the drivers fix my problem??...... Since this bulletin windows 7 has been released and i have checked gateway and windows 7 websites or hours to no result. when my computer starts up there is a error message in the bottom left corner about a driver being outdated due to combatibility issues or something along those lines.I jus dont know what driver or drivers I need to download or if that is even the issue. I have waited months for windows 7 to be released and now have no idea where to turn. im gonna try calling gateway and windows.

HP Laptop Mute Problems
I have this pain in the ass problem with HP's mute button on my nc8430 laptop (Hp quick launch buttons). The core of the problem is that the system mutes the sound by default and the orange light on the button is always on. In reality that means that anytime I want to play something with sounds (mp3, movie, flash online video,..) the system needs like 10 seconds to turn on the sound card and after I finish playing the media file it again goes back to mute. I tried installing/uninstalling different versions of "incompatible" HP's QLB drivers, installing differend sound card drivers but nothing helps. The sound comes out every time, except it needs 10+ secs every fuc***** time!?

Subwoofer Problems With Hp Laptop
I have a Hp dv7-1020us dual booting vista and 7. Last night I was having some sound issues so I started playing around in the sound menu and on the tab that says playback devices I had 4 decvices: speakers, digital audio(s/pdif), digital audio(hdmi) and the one that is now absent which I believe was called internal speaker/headphone. This one was the one controlling my subwoofer because at one point I had it enabled without the speakers enabled and I could tell it was the subwoofer producing sound alone. Â Well at one point I disabled the subwoofer and then it disappeared form the playback device list. So my question is how do i get it back, because I am an audio freak and I need my low frequencies :)

HP Laptop Upgrade From Vista
I am trying to install on an HP DV6-1063TX laptop computer. I have runs upgrade adviser it reports 1 issue although I am not sure what it is, In the System report I get two notices one about MS Mail & Web filtering and one suggesting a visit to HP website, everything else is green ticked so I don't think there are any serious problems here. In the Devices section there is a ? againnst the HP DVB-T/Analog TV-Tuner but again all else is green ticked. In the Software section I get a 'Yellow Triangle !' against Adobe Shockwave Player version 10.2.0.023, everything else has green ticks. The problem is that as far as I can see there should not be Adobe Shockwave version 10 as I have uninstalled not only this program but all the other Adobe software as well. I have tried updating to version 11.5, I have used Adobe's standalone uninstall tool for Shockwave but Windows 7 UGA insists it is still on the computer. I have run CCLeaner but all to no avail. Is this the problem? On the first attempt I had a problem with HPs Keyboard Filter which I understand is related to the HP Quick Launch Button software, I have uninstalled the software and have upgraded to the latest version. I have tried the installation 3 or 4 times now with the HP software upgraded or fully installed. Each time the installation goes through all the on-line checks, system checks, file expansion etc... only to find that it fails during the final stage. During the last attempt I had the upgraded Keyboard Filters installed and this again caused a problem so I am going to uninstall the upgraded software and try another install although I hold little hope for success. The fact that the Windows 7 UGA reports a phantom Adobe Installation leads me to think the problem may be there but I have no idea how to solve this as it is not on the machine. I would prefer to do the upgrade installation if possible as it will save many hours of software installation (after hours of time already wasted on Windows 7 installation), and I am worried that being a laptop Windows 7 may fail with some of the drivers it does not help that I cannot find this laptop on HPs website even though it was bought just over 12 months ago. I really want to get rid of this Vista installation and hope that someone here can be of assistance, in the meantime I will be trying one more attempt to upgrade after uninstalling the HP Quick Launch Bitton software.

Win 7 Overheating HP Laptop
