After installing Firefox 4 beta, IE9 Beta and deleting quarantined items from Malware Bytes. After system restarts it keeps going to the Configuring windows screen do not turn off your computer. It goes for a few minutes then reboots. It has done this numerous times...

Is it works fine for me or giving any impact on speed etc.
i have been playing Open Beta-free-to-play, browser-based games with no problems until the other night i turned off the computer and it down loaded windows updates .Now no beta games will load and run on my laptop they just freeze the browser and all tabs open i have to shut them down using the small box at the bottom.it must be something to do with the downloads as i have another computer that they will load on but this is too old and slow to run them on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm installing Windows 7 Beta x64 Build 7600 with a 4.7GB DVD but once it gets to the 'finishing installation' part it seemingly reboots (I think?) to continue with the install but the thing is at this point in time for me the screen goes blank and all I see is the cursor which I can move around. If I power it off and then turn it back on the loading screen comes up but when I get to the log on screen the same thing happens again.
The exact same thing happens to me with Vista. I installed it like three times (the difference is on Vista it gets past the install but still won't get past the logon screen so I can never shut down, restarting is fine though for some reason) and I'm being forced to roll back to 64-bit XP which to be honest I really don't want. So far I've detected that it's not the DVDs. It might be the RAM but I replaced both temporarily and that didn't work either.
Since the official Sp1 is coming I ahve to remove my SP1 Beta 1 and cannot find any instruction in KB 976932.

Also I cannot uninstall the beta.If I try and uninstall, first it is not listed in programs. It is also not in 'Installed Updates' in fact nothing is in here!So I just cannot get rid of it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI ran Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion laptop tx-1000, with it's internal NVIDIA nForce wireless adapter supporting b/g and n. It worked fine, then yesterday I loaded RC1.
Although the wireless connect SEES all the wireless networks, it can't connect to any (of mine, two total).
I've removed all the security from them, and connected to them with a desktop with a PCI wireless adapter, so they're good.
Did the driver set change from Beta? Is there a comprehensive diagnostic process to determine WHY Windows 7 can't connect?
I currently have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit installed but I want to try out the beta release of Windows 8 Milestone 3 Build 7989 that is floating around.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Beta 1 Multi-Touch Is Much Improved
I documented my experience with the Windows 7 pre-beta, N-Trig’s Win 7 multi-touch driver, and the Dell Latitude XT Tablet PC back in November. Most folks will remember that experience as being pretty lousy.
Well, there is finally some good news to report. I just finished installing Windows 7 Beta 1 and the latest N-Trig multi-touch drivers for Windows 7 on the XT, and I’m pleased to report that the experience is much improved.
Picture zooming, rotations, zooming in web page, etc are all much smoother and I what I expected when I first tested it. Zooming could be still be improved, but it is much better than the pre-beta. In addition, there is no vectoring when switching from pen to touch, inking, etc. (See update below) This feels like a solid multi-touch experience. Microsoft and N-Trig should be commended.
There are no N-Trig dialog feedback dialogs, and no N-Trig control panel options other than an About panel. Windows 7 has clearly taken over the multi-touch experience from beginning to end.
I am trying running a beta version of a driver for a Nova Tuner stick but windows reports:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) I know about the disable digital signature enforcement option in F8 menu but its a bit of a hassle having to reboot every time you want to use the stick. Is there a way to make windows accept this driver permanently?
There are new Nvidia Beta drivers for Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit.

I thought Internet explorer 9 beta was the latest so i up graded. Bad mistake....In fact the worst I have every made to date on the computer, It would not be so bad if I could get it looking the same as before as I am getting it in the neck from my wife, The top tool bar is gone ie; file , favorites, edit. view ,tools, etc, All I want is to go back to what I had, Internet Explorer 7-8. I have tried everything even systems restore I can not seem to be able to get rid of Internet explorer 9 Beta and go back to what i had.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently running XP as my main OS on one partition but I also have Windows 7 Beta on a separate partition on the same hard drive. Right now I cannot currently access Windows 7 when booting up, I have no clue why that is as I used to be able to do that.
What I want to do is delete the partition Windows 7 Beta is on and install Windows 7 RC as my main OS. I have tried booting to a disc with GParted on it to delete the partition but it will not boot to the cd, I know my BIOS is in the right order as I can easily boot to the Windows 7 RC dvd I have made. When I try to use something like EASEUS Partition Master or the Disk Management on XP, the delete option is greyed out when I right click on the Windows 7 Beta partition. I cannot figure out how to do delete it so I can extend my XP partition to the full space on the hard drive and then install the Windows 7 RC.

Is it possible to use the Virtual PC Beta in 7 for another OS?
From my understanding, previous versions of VPC use software virtualisation while this beta uses hardware virtualisation, so it's better for testing other operating systems.
I tried to install windows 7 service pack 1 release candidate. it says I have prelease version installed, please install it first. I tried to look for kb976932, and install it. unistall is disabled. uninstalling the game
rolling back my wireless driver
updating my driver
reinstalling "wireless console 3" (ASUS wireless program)

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I like to stay on top of things, and that mean at least running betas of browsers, if not dev channels, and what do I stumble on in Chrome? A new download manager. It's not on by default, so you won't see it right away, but if you go to ABOUT:FLAGS, and enable "New Downloads UI" you no longer get that annoying download bar at the bottom of Chrome. I know some may like that, but I hate it, so to me this is a welcome find. I also noticed they added "Smooth Scrolling", but again, it's not on by default, so you need to enable it under flags too.

It has only been a few hours since XFastest have released the new GeForce 185.20 beta drivers, including a new release of Nvidia's PhysX engine 8.11.18.
Yet what's particularly noteworthy is that these new drivers contain an Ambient Occlusion setting that can be set to Low, Medium, High and Off.
From the description in Nvidia Control Panel:
Ambient Occlusion adds realism to scenes by reducing the intensity of ambient light on surfaces blocked by surrounding objects. It enhances depth perception by providing a soft shadow effect for objects based on their placement in the scene. This feature is not supported for all applications.
Basically, Ambient Occlusion is used to create soft, ambient lighting shadows, emulating diffused lighting such as daylight or indoor ambient lighting. For a more articulate description, refer to the Wikipedia definition here.
Additionally, Hardware-Infos has a write-up comparing GeForce 185.20 beta to several popular drivers releases issued in the second half of 2008.
The drivers are available for Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 7 build 7000 and can be found here.
I am using Vista 64 and the 8.12 drivers to display @ 1680x1050 on my TFT and 1920x1080 on my TV. All seems to work ok with the extended desktop and I can vary the refresh rate with no problems, as well as the resolution.
Having seen the latest beta driver for the 64 bit version of Windows 7 (beta_w7-64_8-56-1-081203a-72489) I have read the release notes and seen...
Quote: Catalyst Control Center, the display manager page has been disabled for this release of the Windows 7 display driver The above would cause me a problem as I use that to set the resolution and refresh rate changes to both my TFT and TV. But then I read...
Quote: Changing the screen resolution on a extended TV display is not applied until reboot How is that achieved, or is it via the system tray icon, if the display manager tab is disabled..?
Also if the tab is not there can the refresh rate still be changed on the TV..? If it can be changed can that be done on the fly or does that need a reboot...?
Found this Driver, 32 & 64bit that works with the Netgear wg111v2 wireless adaptor.

When I shut down my VPC at the end of the day after a good few hours use, it causes a BSOD of the laptop reboots.
The error is something along the lines of "An application attempted to release a resource that did not belong to it", that isn't the exact phrase but something very close to it.
Edit: It's done this a few times now, the second it's finished shutting down. One thing I have also noticed is that I can't shut it down correctly too, it informs me that the VPC is locked. So I have to shut down via the task manager, maybe this is what is causing the problem?
