Sony Vaio Laptop Audio Output HDMI Not Working In Samsung Monitor T23A750
Dec 24, 2011I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine.

May 10, 2011can microsoft implement native multi gesture support for touch pad for windows 8, it like a small touch screen isn't it? as of now it works randomly with some application and not other eg zune, windows explorer doesn't work etc. the feature is so useful it's supprising that microsoft still haven't include it in their os.

Sep 19, 2012I have suddenly lost the ability to use my control+left or right arrows. Not just in word but on all places I type using the computer, even this message!I use this key constantly as I am a secretary and do lots of documents and letters and it is driving me nuts not being able to use this function.When I reboot I sometimes get the function back for a short while then it disappears again.I have just had a brand new computer put in but it happened sometimes on my old PC too so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I am wondering if I have accidentally hit a combination of keys to disable it or something.

Jan 27, 2011I have an Acer 5741 running W7, all ok until few days ago.Now disc seems to be always busy doing something, and all actions slower and the busy rotating circle is often displayed.Control Panel opens but most CP links do not now respond eg View devices, uninstall a program.Some applications briefly open (via their desktop shortcut) but then their window auto closes and they disappear, eg Open Office, firefox, IE8, Fastone (with mssg has stopped working), Advanced System Care (ditto), FinePix (ditto). These appns do not appear in Task Manager either. Have tried access via wifi and direct connect but same results and even tried Firefox in Safe mode.Other appns are still however ok eg Adobe, Avast, Task Mgr, Crap Cleaner, Threatfire, Free Commander, Photocopier, Windows Defender.I have rolled back W7 to before when problem started but no improvement.It seems to me that its a W7 problem rather than the appns

Apr 5, 2009I've recently purchased a Sony BDU-X10S Blu-Ray internal SATA ROM drive for my PC but it doesn't seem to install correctly in Windows 7. I had originally installed Seven as an upgrade install over Vista, but I didn't have the drive installed before I installed Seven. I'm dual-booting Vista and Seven at the moment and Vista seems to have no trouble with seeing the drive and playing Blu-Ray discs, but this is a less than desirable workaround.
The drive itself shows up in Device Manager under the 'DVD/CD-ROM drives' section as "SONY BD-ROM BDU-X10S ATA DEVICE" with a little yellow exclamation mark sign on it, and the drive details read "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)". The drive does not show up in Computer.
I have tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting but when windows attempts to automatically install the proper driver I simply get a dialog box stating that an attempt to find the correct driver has failed, and to contact the manufacturer. No drivers as such came with the drive and windows Vista seemed happy enough to auto-install it without asking for any drivers.
Windows update and the 'update driver' function of device manager fail to find any different drivers; they both return stating that "the correct driver for this device is installed".
Does anyone know of any other way I can work around this? If possible, is there a way for me to boot into my working Vista install that has no problems with the BD-ROM drive and 'extract' the driver that windows is using? Both of the versions of Windows I have installed at the moment are the x64 platform variants.
Track Pad On Sony VAIO Not Working
Oct 25, 2012I recently installed a new HDD (Seagate ST9500424AS; p/n 9RW143-567) in my Sony VAIO VPCEH11FX and installed the OS using the Sony VAIO Recovery Media Kit (VPCE_10FX Series 989203008). During the installation, I selected the default or normal settings. A short while (1-2 weeks) after the installation was complete, I noticed that the track pad was not working after enabling it using Fn+F1. (The pointing device dialog box DOES appear when I press Fn+F1 and shows that it will toggle between enable & disable). I took the computer into Fry's (where I bought it) and they booted a different OS (I think it was Windows XP) using a CD. Using this OS, the track pad worked. So it was confirmed it wasn't a hardware issue. I proceeded to contact Sony. They had me do the following:
1) download the latest drivers & driver updates and install both. This didn't fix the problem.
2) uninstall 'Alps Pointing-device for VAIO' and run the .exe files for the driver & update. This didn't fix the problem.
3) boot the computer to recovery mode (press F10 when it starts); I noticed that the track pad was working in this mode.
4) Confirm that the other ALT keys functioned properly. (they do function properly)
The Sony rep asked me to confirm the type of HDD I installed (I forget what specifically he was interested in), but upon my reading him the part number, he confirmed the HDD was compatible.The Sony rep then suggested I either recover the system to a previous version/date and see if the track pad is working. (he seems to think some software I installed might have prevented the track pad from working) He also suggested I could reformat the HDD and reinstall the entire OS. I've balked at doing either, as I'm guessing there is an issue with the registry.
