View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know what is my problem because is not the first time that usb external hard drive is working fine until get damage and said " it need to be formatted " and lost all the INFO because I have to format again the disk to be usefull. Also it is not the same hard disk.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a new 1 TB WD HDD (internal) and have connected it internally in my PC to my motherboard using the spare power and SATA cables within my PC. (This is the second internal disk ) I booted on the PC (windows 7 (64 bit)) - the new HDD was detected and i continued to format the disk using quick format option with NTFS (allocation cluster size 4096 bytes). I have not made partitions on this and therefore this is essentialy one large 1 TB partition.
I then loaded all the data that i wished to back up from the 3 partitions of my older existing 500 GB disk as the purpose of acquiring the new 1 TB was exactly this. Till now all is fine.
3 days later i wished to transfer some of backed up data files (on my new unpartitioned but formatted new 1 TB disk) to my Toshiba laptop (Win 7 64 bit). So i discconnect the new 1TB disk from the PC and attach it using a USB 2.0 TO SATA/IDE cable to the usb port of my Toshiba laptop. The disk is detected but a message pops up saying that the disk is unformatted and the disk management tool in Windows shows this as a basic disk (RAW).
In case you'd like to know what cable i am referring to - here it is Brando USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Cable
PS: I have tried formating the disk via the USB cable (as requested by my laptop message) but then when i attach it back as an internal disk in my PC it (the PC) detects it as an unformatted RAW disk (the vice versa problem) and requests me to format the same!
What i want to know is how to make this HDD usable both as an internal disk drive as well an externally connected USB drive? What i am doing wrong?
PS: Many years ago i have done the same without any problem with an IDE HDD
PPS: I have done the same exercise using win XP PC but i get the same problem
Is it a bios setting, OS issue, partition table issue or what?
By mistake my external hard disk formatted by clean and clean. How to recover my all file Inside now when I connect the pc its detecting hard disk but not showing its connected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using build 7229, and it has been absolutly brilliant.
Now, apart from that, i have had general probs, one of which forced me to reinstall everything (Kaspersky 6.0 does not work properly with win 7, well i did'nt with me, had a BSOD when i rebooted, one of which explained a process that had been terminated, process that the CPU runs, anyway the HDD is formatted and i restarted again), this has now forced me to make a disk image incase something happens.
No what i wanna know is, can i use that disk image or a back-up and flash that onto an RTM version (when there released), so's i don't have to reinstall everything. i.e. the back-up or disk image does it all for me. Or is this not possible.
I have a disk with MS Office 2003 on it. My CD/DVD tray is not working right now. I was thinking I might be able to copy the disk to a flash drive and load it that way. Is that possible? How would I do it if it is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Imation Usb Flash disk 4GB nano pro, everytime I plug in to my Toshiba Laptop A300 using Windows 7 it says windows update cannot find the driver , so it say usb device not recognized and I cant see it in my Devices with removable storage.
When i go to device manager, i can see the unknown device as nano pro but no driver installed, it has an yellow exclamation mark. tried update driver but failed because Windows 7 cannot find it online.
When i run Ubuntu OS on the same laptop, usb imation is working so i guess theres a problem only with Windows 7 driver or Windows 7 OS .
Also, i tried a different brand usb flash disk and its working on Windows 7 only this Imation brand.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have bit of a trouble with installing Windows 7 on my new ASUS X501A freedos laptop. Since the laptop has no disk drive I am installing Windows via USB device.
Everything goes smooth with the installation until it reaches the second step, asking for a cd/dvd/flash driver, not recognizing the USB device that is plugged in.
The other night I was putting something on my 8gb sandisk flash drive. My pc shut off randomly and I go to recopy the files onto my flash drive and the drive keeps saying the disk is write protected. I cant format the drive because it says the disk is write protected. I've tried going into regedit and making the write protect reg key. Didn't work. The flash drive does not have a little switch to make it protected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've built a brand new PC and decided that I would like to install windows 7 64 bit on my SSD, I got a disk+key from my university before christmas so that'd i'd be ready once i'd built it.
I built the PC yesterday and realised that I'd left my external DVD drive at my university accommodation, I'm at my parents house for christmas break so that's a few weeks left. I can't really wait that long so I used my parents laptop (which I'm posting from now) to turn the disk into an .iso and use the microsoft USB utility to make a USB stick that i could install from.
However when I tried the install gets to 'installing features' and gives 'windows cannot install required files' error code 0x80070570 I looked the code up on google which sent me to a lot of threads here, so far I've tried:
Taking all but 1 stick of ram out and the graphics card. Reseting the bios to default Installing again without rebooting after error. using cmd to select the right partition

Alas it was not and had some very important folders in it.I started to install windows and got to the drive option and formatted it and as soon as I had I realised which drive it was. I did not go any further with the installation so nothing has written over it.Can anyone advise what my options are if any to recover this drive?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make my 1TB eGo USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive bootable. I am running Win 7. The bios hardware supports booting from a USB drive, and I am able to select the USB drive from the boot menu. But when I choose the USB drive, I get: A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart I am able to read/write from the USB drive normally via Win 7 with no problems, but I am missing that something "bootable" - what is it? I used bootsect make the USB drive bootable.(the USB drive is formatted NTFS and could this matter my computer is formatted 64 bit and the USB drive is formatted with whatever you get when you select NTFS -would that be 64bit in my case?)
