View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. I have recently started playing Governor of Poker, (the full version). However, although my game saves while the PC is on, as soon as I switch off the saved game is lost, (very annoying if you have completed 3 or 4 levels and have to start again). The other problem is that I can't find the saved game folder. It is not in the usual places ie appdata or programdata on the C drive.
View 9 Replies View Relatedthe Start menu and explorer search bars will only return recently saved or modified files, dating back perhaps a month.
I've looked at the settings and they are default. Using the option to not use indexing makes no difference.
I've tried this hotfix Windows search is not working and search is slow or shuts down without success.
Is it at all possible to hide the Downloads, Links, Favorites, Searches, Videos, Saved Games, and Contacts folders (just the folder, not contents)? I've tried just hiding it like any other folder but it won't work.AND if possible, have explorer open in my home folder instead of libraries.
PS: I tried disabling libraries entirely, but it opens to My Documents instead of my home folder.
I'm on a brand new HP computer running Windows 7 and everytime I download a file from the internet or even save files from local programs to my desktop, they are saved as some sort of hidden file...or at least they behave similar to hidden files. The difference is if I open up an Explorer window and browse to my desktop, I can see them there that way, but there is no icon on my desktop for the file. I CAN see the the saved file on my desktop if I turn "view hidden files" on...but when I look at the properties of said files, they are not actually marked "hidden." I can even copy/paste that same file in my desktop and I will see the copied file show up visually on the desktop, but still not the original file unless I browse to the desktop in an Explorer window. When right clicking the desktop, "Show desktop icons" is turned on and I can view all of my other desktop file icons, shortcuts, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a report that calculates a percentage, and in order to do this I have to change the regional currency decimal settings to 3. (It is normally 2). When I make this change, it saves and the report runs fine. But after I log off then log back on, the setting reverts back to 2. I am part of a domain but there is nothing in group policy that affects regional settings. My XP system, which is also part of the domain, is able to keep the setting. Is there any reason why it won't keep this setting? It keeps it until I log off the system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used the temporary internet files very often on Windows XP. It was the easiest way for me to grab images, xml's, flv, swf, mp3's and go on and on. Now I have windows 7 (version 7137) and when I look in the TIF folder, there are no jpg's, no flv's, no swf's and so on.
I was wondering if those images (files) are maybe saved somewhere else? I tried downloading programs that are specially made to grab images from the web, but I can't say that those programs are great replacements.
I've some old sent emails saved to My Documents from Live Mail.I can't delete them.I tried moving them to the recycle Bin,but they wouldn't go.I open them, but no option to delete as with old received emails.I sent them to myself after deleting the original address, but on deleting them in Windows Live mail, they stayed in My Documents.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince last Tuesday's Microsoft Windows Update, my Windows Explorer is experiencing a number of issues. The update hung for hours on "preparing to update" or some such thing.I had to manually shut the computer off several times and finally tried the safe mode start, which warned me that the update was not fully done. Now, when I click on Favorites/My Documents, it hangs; like it is searching but when the shaded bar gets to the end, it stays there and Explorer freezes. When I click on any the window, it goes whitish and a message pops up asking if I want to continue waiting or should the program be closed. I shut the program down.If I click any other item on Favorites or Libraries, even Documents within Libraries, Explorer does ok.
When I try to save a file in Photoshop or Dreamweaver or any other program, a message pops up saying the program failed to respond and gives me the option to wait or close the program.Even if I try to print to PDF, it does the same thing. In other words any time I need to save any item from within any program, the programs freeze. I even changed the save folder in PDF Phantom, from documents to downloads and still it won't save.My next step will probably be PC Restore and to hell with everything.
Alright, I have been looking for a program that will keep my open windows saved when I logoff or shutdown the computer so that when I turn it back on or log back on the windows will reappear...

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 Home Premium Homegroup is not accepting my settings (stuck on its own settings). I'm able to go to my Homegroup settings and CHECK the boxes for sharing video, pictures, doc.s, and music yet, When I Click save changes, it closes-out the window and when I view Settings once more.. they remain the same as before I changed them (stuck on only "Printers"). This goes for other HomeGroup Settings as well. I'v stopped and started the HomeGroup Services "Listener" and "Provider", but the Strange thing is that it is sharing those files in My HomeGroup.. just not realizing it is.. or sumthin?? Also tried Leaving HomeGroup, Rebooted, and Joined. idk, but more than likely has to do w/ the Home Premium version.. because the Ultimate edition is able to see this Home Premium Laptop as if I had my settings changed to share and stream music, etc.. the Home Premium can't see the Ultimate edition in the HomeGroup
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy sister sends me jpeg photos from her phone as attachments in gmail. In the email, the preview pic looks normal. When I click View, the pic is enlarged, but flipped 90 degrees. If I download the pic, it's flipped 90 degrees. If I open the pic in windows live photo gallery, I can rotate it, but will get a bunch of pop up error messages saying This photo cannot be saved because of a problem with the photo's file properties. Then it says there's a problem with windows live photo gallery and shuts down. This pic flipping in gmail started about a week ago. Previously her pics displayed correctly. She says she's doing nothing out of the ordinary. I just tried loading the photo into MsPaint. I was able to rotate it and save it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I save a file to my desktop, I have to go into the folder options for the desktop and select to view all hidden files. The files I save, when I check their properties, are no longer hidden. I have to go through this process ANY time I save a file to my desktop, no matter the file type.
Files saved to other folders aren't hidden.
trying to make some basic changes to the screen personalization but they wont stick. I'm in administrator mode, by the way. Every time I log back in, they revert. In particular, Im trying to change the way a slideshow is displayed. I go to Desktop Background and change Position to Fit. I Save Changes and all seems to be well. I also save the desktop theme under My Themes. But when I log back in it goes back to Stretch. Am I missing some kind of permissions thing? Or do I just not understand how desktop themes get saved?
