Fast User Switching Without Password?

UAC Switching User's Passwords?
Dec 12, 2011I'm having here is that my user accounts have sort of switched themselves. To clarify, my Administrator account had a password, my other user account did not. I woke up to find that the Administrator account no longer had a password, and the user account was now passworded with the administrator's! Now I can assure you that nobody is playing a practical joke, because I am the ONLY person who knows the Administrator password, therefore there is no way anyone else could set that exact password for the user account.

Now when i try to turn on my computer, the whole process of turning on Windows repeats all the time but it doesn't want to go to my account.

May 14, 2011I have Windows 7 Professional x64. There are three user accounts: Daddy - Administrator...this is my account; Child - Standard User; and Visitor - Standard User. (These are not the accounts' real names.)
I really should be a Standard User for day-to-day computing. There are two ways I could go about doing this, and my question is: Which way is better? Daddy will continue to be an Administrator. I will create a new Standard User account for myself. Daddy will transfer all my documents, pictures, music, etc. to my new user account; or I will create a new Administrator account and then demote Daddy to a Standard User. Are there particular pros and cons to these methods, or does it not really matter?
One thing I wonder about is that I have used the Daddy account to install certain software 'for this user only' (i.e., Daddy) . I did this for software that needs Administrator permissions and rights, such as my antivirus software. Will a new Administrator account automatically have this software installed, or will it have to re-install this software?
Switching User Profile In Registery?
Jun 21, 2011doing a domain change over and all the client machines are windows 7 and we are moving them from a server 2003 domain to 2011 domain. i have been testing this on some dummy profiles on my laptop which is attached to the new server domain and normally to make a profile change over easier you could "hack" the registery keys by changing the profile target inside the key.in win xp for example i would have gone to regedit key_local_machinesoftwaremicrosoftwindowsntcurrentversionprofilelistand then copied the original domain profilefor example: profile a's (old domain) profileimagepath key data would be copied to profile b's (the new domain)but now in windows 7 there is of course the added security etc. so its not that simple, because when i do attempt to login to that profile after a full restart it will login to the temp profile and give the there was a problem and you have been given a temporary profile error.

Apr 26, 2011I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate. After reinstalling and re-creating the user accounts I noticed that I could no longer use this PC as a host for Remote Desktop as I had before.
Also, I can no longer switch users, instead I have to Log off each time a user wants to log on. I have done the gpedit.msc (policies/templates "hide entry points for fast user switching" which is disabled.
I have also added a registry HideFastUserSwitching. These two tips are offered in a few places.
I have also deleted the original user accounts and remade them just in case there was a corruption. I keep all data in a data partition so I just point the newly created accounts back to that partition. Could that have something wrong with it?
User Switching No Longer Works After SP1 Install
Mar 21, 2011Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit. Not on a domain. After I installed SP1, "Switch User" disappeared as an option. "Hide entry points for Fast User Switching" in GP Editor is set to Not Configured.
I also checked the Application Information service as Andre suggested, and it was not running. I started it, set it to automatic startup, and rebooted. Still no joy.
I have uninstalled SP1, and I now have the option to switch users as I did before installing SP1.
I'd prefer to keep my system updated, but for this system anyway, the ability to switch users as opposed to logging off is more important.

I am trying to find out how to keep my Broadband connection active when I switch users. I have 4 accts. on my computer, one for each family member. Whenever I switch accts, my Broadband connection shuts down. You can start it up again after the switch with no problem. I would prefer, however, to have it stay connected during the switch, as this would just make my life easier. For instance all users connect to the same torrent software, and I have the files for it synced. So, no matter who is logged in, the torrent info is the same. When the connection drops, the torrent software has to reload all the DHT info. I have googled this, to no avail. I assume it is a matter of where the BB Modem Drivers are installed? Or maybe a Registry tweak.
Prevent Screen-shutdown When Switching User?

Switching Between User Profiles Makes Wlan Disconnect
Sep 9, 2010I always used "switch to other user" when I left my laptop behind for a while (i.e. when I was going to sleep or leaving the house). As I never turn off my laptop (barely never), the point is that I don't want to get people to use my laptop without my permission browsing through my files etc. It's not like I've got something to hide, I just don't want it.
It used to work before, without making the internet disconnect. I made sure that Windows is not configured to turn off the network card when idle for some time.
Make The Settings Permanent By Switching User Controls Off?

The problem is that setting it up requires the program to write some things to the registry, which apparently is being blocked, so I have to go through the settings every time I load it. In Vista I could make the settings permanent by switching User controls off while I set the program up. With Windows 7 I find that even with it set to minimum, Ember can't write the values.

Mar 28, 2011I have a desktop and a laptop both running Windows 7 Ultimate x86. My desktop is being primarily used as a media server with external hard drives attached to it. I was able to share my external hard drives over the network and my laptop was able to detect them. Right now "password protected sharing" is turned off, but I want to turn it on so that no one except me can access that network.My question is, what is my user name and password? It asks me for my user name and password but I never set one up. Is there a way to find out what my user name and password is? And is there a way to change it so I can pick my own user name and password?

The problem when I got to user account to change pw (I am the only on on my pc) when I go to change it the first thing happens is user account goes in to not responding then I get this message Unsupported Keyboard Layout Then it tells me on how my pw will not work on preboot security which I don't have on then it tells me to view a list of keyboard layouts it goes to not responding right away never get keyboard lay out screen. then I get password you typed does'nt meet requirements.

Jan 25, 2012We bought as exdisplay PC & they told us it would be restored to factory settings. When i start up it immediately tells me user name & password is incorrect. I click okay & it wants me to log into kiosk. From there I have to switch user. I've looked in user accounts a dozen times - there is only on user account (admin) & it's in my name. So where or what is kiosk? I've done the whole "regedit" thing but I don't have a default folder under profiles.

All of the technicians are on vacation now and the school board is also closed. There is no technician to help my father. The computer technician has set up his user name and password. It has been working for the last few months but suddenly, a few days ago, when he types in his password, he gets the message that his username or password are incorrect.
I have tried starting it up on safe mode, but it is still asking for his login and it is still incorrect. I have tried logging into the administrator password but it is not a blank password and nothing I have put in works. I have also tried switching user but there is no other user. I have tried restoring the computer but it states that I need to have administrator clearance to restore. I have the windows 7 disk but I am unsure how to activate it. My father has not made a password restore disk and when I tried to follow the instructions of saving the password on a usb or a disk, it did not work because I did not have the password disk.
I am currently trying to reinstall Windows 7, as that is what a lot of forums were telling me to do but it is taking forever. I am hearing people tell me to download recovery tools, but I have no idea how to do this as the only computer I have currently is my father's computer, which I cannot get onto the internet! (I am typing from an ipod). How do I download ISOs and recovery files when I cannot access the internet?
