I have a Canon GL2 professional camera. I have been able to live record onto a laptop with firewire connection into moviemaker. I am trying to get some external device to hook up to my pc that does not have a firewire connection.

View 9 Replies View Relatedremoved the drive from the enclosure and got a SATA>USB dock thing for it. it didn't appear in the Computer with my internal drives but was visible in diskmgmt as "Healthy (Active, Recovery Partition)" but with the File System column empty and no letter assigned. right click only offers a menu with "Help" on it. used diskpart to assign a letter and it now appears in Computer but says all its capacity (except ~250mb) is free and, when I open it, there are no files to see, only a folder "Recovery", which is empty. in diskmgmt it still has no letter assigned. used a program called Recuva and it shows me some small files but nothing I recognise.

I take out both of my different videos cards and use internal video and it does not crash. The problem is this is my living room movie file player and the video cards make a huge difference....I also need explorer as well....now Chrome works but that is not what I want..

So I looked a bit into this matter and what I have found is that the VLC player that I am using to play the video files runs of the onboard graphics card and not the nvidia 540M card that is also installed in this notebook.

As long as files added to my media library are stored locally on my C: drive, they show up on my console. If I add a folder which is on my external G: drive, its contents appear in the media library but do not appear on the console. I'm not sure if this is because of some security settings on the external drive- I think the problem began when I updated to Windows 7 and took ownership of the external hard drive (because "<unknown contact>" was listed as the files' owner).
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo today is my first day with 7 and overall I love it... but I have run into a strange problem with my video library. I have many videos organized by folders on two separate (but identical, both Lacie 1TB) drives that I would like to add to my video library. I can add one drive without trouble. When I try to add folders from the second drive from within media center, the program seems to be adding it but says 0 videos found and when i check back, the folders are no longer listed under the library (essentially the same thing happens from wmp.)
It doesn't matter which drive I try - as long as I delete the libraries first and only plug one drive in, either will add its folders to the video library individually. It's when I try adding the second drive that I can't add its folders. I can always access videos through explorer and view them just fine - strictly a library problem. I can also add the folders from the 2nd new drive to any other library without problem (there are no folders in either that I included in any other libraries - it's only a problem when there are folders in the same library on the first drive.)
When I try right clicking on folders in explorer from the 2nd drive (after adding the first) and try to 'include in library,' it starts to work and then says "The folder could not be included in Videos." I've tried changing the names of the drives and the drive letters, swapping cables and USB ports and nothing works.
My onboard soundcard isn't working with Windows 7. I really like the performance Windows 7 is giving me for everything, from games (no sound), to processor-heavy loads, but I just can't get the audio to work. I have tried a lot of sound drivers listed in these forums, but they all say the drivers can't find suitable hardware and exits the install.

I have an ASUS P7P55D motherboard that does not show my onboard LAN in device manager. I suspect its dead. I then proceeded to install a PCI type network adapter card in one of the available slots and it was recognized by the OS with drivers installed. I connect the cable which I tested to be working fine on my laptop and it shows the led's working on the card but I still have no network capability. Is it possible to have both the onboard LAN and external NIC not work because of a chip issue, etc.? This is the first I have ever seen both not work. If I need a new board...fine...but I just don't want to waste my money if it can be fixed. BTW, I did check my BIOS and everything is enabled properly.

View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently ran a bunch of malware / antivirus programs to get rid of a zeroaccess trojan. (malwarebytes, mcafee, cccleanter, eset, hitman). Was finally able to get rid of the viruses in the services.exe and desktop.ini files. However once they were cleaned and got everything back to normal, I'm having problems with my video card being recognized by anything. Only recognizing the Intel® and not my Nvidia gtx 560M. It's not listed on the dxdiag page, not showing up as a selectable option for The Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Was working fine a few hours ago. It's listed under device manager just not showing up anywhere else. Just wondering if getting rid of those viruses might have deleted some needed .dll or something

I have found a number of cards that would take care of my graphics needs but all seem to require a much larger power supply. Really having a tough time getting advice on upgrading the power.How important is it to have more power?I have 200w; most upgrade video cards require 350w- 600w. Can I get away with what I have? I wiped the drive to get all their vapor ware off, installed my software and everything went fine. Windows Update recognized the hardware on my machine and downloaded and installed the appropriate drivers after the wipe.Here's the problem. My girlfriend followed suit two weeks later and asked me to do the same thing for her. Our machines were slightly different but for the most part I expected a similar experience. Except it wasn't. This time Windows Update failed to recognize the Video Card after the wipe.So now she has this nice video card sitting in her machine using a Standard VGA Adapter instead of the Radeon drivers it needs. No matter how many times I download and install the Catalyst software from ATI's site it doesn't catch. What am I doing wrong?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi used to play games on this laptop and it was running fine. i will have to say that the most hardcore game i ran on this laptop would be call of duty 4, but other than that, it was just those free mmorpg like maple story and flyff. after i reformat to try windows 7, vista, back to windows xp and then back to windows 7, my card started lagging badly. when i'm in game, it would be fine for about a minute (nice fps), then it starts to lag. and when i ctrl+alt+del, it takes a bit of time before it pops up. sometimes, i have to just power off my laptop.
about 2 weeks ago, i reformatted and installed windows xp pro sp3 to see if it was just the os and drivers, but the problem still remains. also, i can't watch flash video on Internet as it starts to lag, but i'm able to watch .avi and such video with media player classic without any problems.
I have two hard drives on the same machine, both using Lightroom.On one HD when I start up up it say that the video card ( ATI Radeon HH 5570 ) has loaded the ICC profile The monitor goes darker and when I print the resulting print is correct.With the other HD the screen does not go darker and when I print this is darker.I have downloaded the same drivers from ATI.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, my ATI AIW 1800XL finally bit the dust. The TV software hasn't been supported since Vista (and I'd just bought it before Vista went beta...) and I've been using Windows drivers since Windows 7 Beta. Now running 7 RTM.
Today, whilst only playing mp3s with WMP12, the system locked up and refused to boot. Throwing a cheap card in got me up and running, but I'm now browsing Newegg for cards. I've been using ATI for years, but am not opposed to Nvidia (although there are some complaints here regarding driver installation...).
Here are my uses:
I use this system heavily for business. This includes a lot of CS3 use and large, layered image files (blueprints). Since my office is in my home, this machine is not only my main business machine, but it gets a LOT of personal use as well, which includes movies, etc. I have also been known to install a game now and then (but not all that often).
I guess I'd like the ability to run GPU intensive games, but that may not happen (time is at a premium). The games I have copies of at the moment are Far Cry and Far Cry 2 (FC2 came with a 9550 CPU). I've heard good things about Crysis, but again, I may never go there. I guess I'm looking for a compromise? I'd like to keep the cost at around $120 or lower.
