the same Win 7 CD I used on my primary computer.I own a small home recording studio, where my console houses two computers with three monitors. My main computer is my Digital Audio Workstation(DAW) and as I am a professional Detailer, it also is my 3D graphics workstation. The other computer is for Midi, Internet, HTPC, and various other things, although both computers are networked through a router and can access the Internet. However, for security reasons, I don't use the DAW computer on the net except to download various upgrades/drivers etc.Because of ergonomics at the console, I would like to access both computers with only one keyboard/mouse. While doing research on Win7 Remote Desktop, I discovered that Win7 Home Premium will only allow this computer to be a Client, but not access a HOST, while Pro/Ultimate will allow a computer to be a host, but will not allow you to access a CLIENT, which is ODD, as if you pay premium price for Pro/Ultimate, it would seem you would want to use it to access a Client computer, not the other way around. Currently, my secondary computer runs XP, and since Home Premium will not allow my primary computer(client) via Remote Desktop to access my secondary computer because it isn't a HOST, I'm looking for an alternative.
I have been researching Team Viewer, as I need an App that will allow me to teach my daughter Sketchup, as she is an Interior Designer. However, she is 500 miles away, and uses a Mac Laptop. Hence my research, which tells me Team Viewer might be ideal. But it dawned on me that maybe Teamviewer might also solve my other desire. Can anyone provide some insight into the pro's/cons of TeamViewer vs Remote Desktop. I had considered purchasing Win7 Pro for my secondary computer just to access it from my primary computer, which would still run Home Premium, and it would be the client, which again, it seems Remote Viewer via Win7 Pro is backwards, but maybe I'm missing something here. Any info would be appreciated as I am semi retired and my income resources are limited. And then, I have a THIRD computer, running XP, that isn't on the net. I was wondering if I can use the same Win7 Home Premium CD to load Win7 on that computer too, since I don't access the net from it.
i want to share desktops in local network. is there any way or any application by which i can do this without using internet connection. i mean if there is only local network exist.
Running Win7 Ultimate 64Bit.I recently installed adobe photoshop cs6. When viewing .jpg files in explorer they are associated with windows photoviewer. If I right click on a .jpg file and go to open with, the CS6 executable does not appear, so I select "choose default program", "browse", make sure "always use the selected program to open this type of file" checkbox is checked, go to the .exe file for CS6, select it, and it takes me back to the "Open With" window but does not allow me to select the OK button to make the association. It's like I never chose an .exe to open the file with.

I recently built this machine, about a month ago. The video card and power supply were used from an older desktop, all other parts are new. I've attached a zip file with the output of the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app, and a System Health Report.

Im running Teamspeak 3 and I use stereo mix to stream sound to my friends, the only problem is that whenever they talk Stereo mix plays their voice back and causes insane feedback. I would just mute everyone but that would mean I cant hear them myself. Is there any way to change it so that stereo mix wont pick up their voices let me still hear them?(I have 2 recording devices, Microphone and StereoMix. I have 2 playback devices, my HDMI to the TV and a Speaker output.) I use VIA High Definition Audio as my drivers.
I left my PC in the company of someone who might have done some meddling. It is configured to require the password upon re-opening it, but it is my understanding this can be by-passed. And, if true, knowing the time this would have occurred, can I use the Event Viewer to determine what actions might have been performed? Or is there a simpler method?
if i replace the shimgvw.dll in Windows 7 with shimgvw.dll from Windows Xp Will i get picture & fax viewer instead of photo viewer? or how would i go about installing the Xp One and removing the Win7 one
it says that in order to clear events, go to the Action menu and click 'Clear'. I have already saved everything in an external file but in the Action menu there is no option to clear.
Using Event Viewer/Applications I was getting 5 error events each day. This had to do with a "search" for a file on an external HD. I have just formated the HD and now I get "Warnings" about the the same files. The HD is now blank.
i've just installed a fresh OS, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and i have a error message when i reboot or turn off my PC. The error appears then disappears so quick i can't read it. Then in Event Viewer i have couple of Error ID 10, and i think that's the error message i get on rebooting/shut down, my PC.
My old laptop with XP had a picture viewer that when i looked at my pics (mostly holiday snaps) in the slide show mode the picture filled the screen. Now on my new laptop with windows 7 the slide show plays at a smaller size with big black bands down each side? When i click on fill screen with previews up all the individual pics do fill screen but as soon as a start slide show the play back at smaller size. Is there a setting or something i cant find?
I am having a problem with my windows photo viewer on my computer. When I try to rotate a picture it tells me that it cannot save the picture because of an unknown error. I've tried looking for a solution on the internet but I haven't had any luck. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and could help me
im trying to save jpg's from this one site and it wont save the image. when i click the jpg it just says...
"windows photo viewer cant open this picture because either photo viewer doesnt support this file format or you dont have the latest updates to photo viewer."ive saved pics off this site many times before and never had any problems and this is the only site that i have this problem with so im thinking that i need to update photo viewer.
I'm looking for an alternative to the stock windows image viewer that has a good UI, the only one I found was Picasa but it doesn't have many features and I can't open more than one picture at the same time.
Is there a way to delete some or all the entries in Event Viewer / Custom Views / Administrative Events? This things logs a bunch of stuff for Acobat and Spybot and for my 3ware SATA controller card. I do not need all this garbage piling up and was just wondering if there is a way to clean it out once in awhile.I looked and can not see away to do it.
I vaguely understand what the Event Viewer is but I do not have the slightest clue as to what the "events" mean. First I open event viewer then I click Administrative Events and it says that 199 events were found. Most of them are warnings but quite a few are errors. The warning that constantly showing up the most is Gigabit Network Connection Network link is disconnected. Another Warning that has popped up 4 times in a row was Request to physical disk 0 has timed out. The most recent error said that the application specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM server application with the CLSID. What does this all mean and should I be worrying?! I am so unbelievably concerned and confused as this has been my first computer build and I know little on the subject
I haven't used Event Viewer before and I'm not sure how to interpret events. All I want is to establish whether a PC was a) on and b) in use between 00:00 and 03:30 on a particular day. What is the easiest way to go about that?
I am trying to open ANY image with Windows Photo Viewer. When I open the image, it just shows "loading..." and nothing comes up. Now, I can open with and choose a different program, like MS paint (or any other graphics program) and can see the image just fine. Its just with Windows Photo Viewer! I did a lot of research on this. Some people were saying to do a mfc /scannow, some said updating drivers. I did everything I have read and nothing worked. Other people had the same problem, and all they did was switch to another program. I don't want to do that. Everyone else, and I mean EVERYONE ELSE who I had the problem, has the same brand name video card - ATI Radeon! No idea what to do next. I downloaded the latest drivers from the ATI website.
All of the sudden, I cannot view any (and I've tried many) images using Windows Photo Viewer. When I double click on an image, Photo Viewer pops up with the following message:"Windows Photo Viewer can't display this picture because there might not be enough memory available on your computer. Close some programs that you aren't using or free some hard disk space (if it's almost full), and then try again."First off, I have never been even close to low on ram or disk space at any point I have tried to view an image, and in the past I could be running SolidWorks with huge assemblies open, and I could have large images open in viewer without a problem. (is this really just more of a bug?) I saw some "solutions" regarding settings in color management, but none of them worked. The only other thing that might be relevant is, I do frequently plug the HDMI output into my TV, during which it switches to just a solo monitor output to the TV. I still get the same error when using the TV though. And in case it matters, I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 on a Samsung RC512 with 6G of ram and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M.
i am getting atapi errors in event viewer, the other day my monitor would not come out of power save mode. i have tester bother my hard drives and they pass. i have also checked my cables and they are fitted ok. i have never had this before and do not know what to do.
