Backup Operator Group Not Running Back
Jan 10, 2012I am trying to setup a Win7 Pro PC backup so that the primary user does not have any admin rights. Setup Standard user login and then another separate login for file backups.
Created a new login called Backup1, and assigned this User Account to the Backup Operators Group, and Users Group. Rebooted, and logged in as Backup1. Attempted to run Backup.

Feb 12, 2012I just had a scary experience with my Toshiba A665-S6095 laptop. I had it running this morning and closed the lid, which hibernates it. About 3pm, I opened the lid and hit the power button, whereupon it gave me the "Windows did not close properly.. ." message. What? How? All I did was close the lid.So anyway, I choose "Start Windows normally". Get blank screen with cursor blinking in upper left corner, but Windows does not boot. Disconnect power cord and removed battery. Waited 10 minutes. Put battery back in, inserted power cord. Turned on. When BIOS icon appeared, hit F2 to enter BIOS. Checked everything; all A-OK.

May 2, 2012After restarting Windows 7 it gets to the login screen (the one that says "Windows 7" at the bottom) that is supposed to show the available profiles. But no profiles are shown. After about 30 seconds an error message pops up that appears to be in the "Wingdings" or some similar font. It's gibberish. I can't find any info on this anywhere.I was able to get into a command prompt by booting to the repair console thing from the Windows disc. Startup repair did nothing. I tried the fix mbr, rebuild bcd, and fix boot commands and they didn't help. I actually started getting a black screen at bootup that saied winload.exe cannot be verified. I seem to have "fixed" that but now am back at this error message. It's the oddest thing I've ever seen.It does the same with "safe mode" (minus the error message) and even with "last know good...". the cursors stays on screen and can be moved, plus every few seconds the screen flashes black very quickly. Does the error message look familiar to anyone (except for the font used of course). Note that going into the repair disc and using start-up repair did nothing.

I found I am able to log in after selecting 'switch user' and then attempting to log in again, so I believe Windows is getting confused. The PC is on a domain so I cannot turn off the option for it to prompt for a password, and I do not wish to turn off the option for sleep mode in order to save power.

After doing so, I cut/pasted my photos folder into my new user directory (or whatever, I'm not very techie..). I have thousands of photos, my BF is a photographer, and I can view most of them. However, in one particular folder 90% of them aren't viewable! Says I don't have permission... When I log back into parents windows, I can see the photos in my directory (as they are no longer located in theirs) but there are little gold padlocks on the ones I cannot see on my log-in. I've tried changing permissions, ownership, you name it.. I've looked for help on line and tried everything. The only thing that seems to work is if I right click on each individual photo and change things that way.

Aug 9, 2011Win 7 Pro, Boots up shows "press ctrl+alt+del" screen, Once this is pressed, the prompt for the password does not show (mouse moves not frozen) Unable to recover from rescue cd After toiling with this issue for some time I found that when the computer is shut down properly, the next login does not show the password prompt. If the computer is shut down via a 5 second power-button press, the password prompt appears the next time the computer is turned on after the "start widows normally" dos screen. I had an older image of the os on a harddrive (replaced HD with solid state) that I used to "restore" from. The issue happened again some 6 days later. I can not keep restoring/backing up all the time as it is very time consuming (there is a lot of changing data on this computer and having to back up like this all the time is not a realistic solution).

Jan 19, 2013I installed a new motherboard, ram and graphics card yesterday. Installed all the drivers and everything was working fine. Got up today turned pc on freezes just after I enter my login password (i had not touched with the PC in between). I run it in safe mode, runs for 2-5 minutes then freezes. I flashed the CMOS to see if resetting the bios would work, it works to let me log in and then 2 mins later freezes just the same. Hard restart after this then turn the PC back on freezes at the login screen again. It has on occasion frozen before the login screen, ie when it shows the motherboard company logo.
