I just got a new desktop computer, and I downloaded windows 7 64 bit home premium. when the download completed and it restarted a screen popped up asking for country/date/time, and now the computer is frozen. Is it okay to restart right now? They said not to restart during the setup process at the very beginning, but i don't know what to do, it's been like this for 15minutes. And i believe all the setup is done, once it restarted it just went straight to asking me about the time.
oh, and also i used custom installation becauuse the express one wouldn't work, saying i couldn't switch from 32 bit to 64 bit. dunno if this is relevant, but just thought i'd say.
When I select updates to download it starts preparing for download, but does not download. Said something about internet connectivity. I have no problems with the internet, updates for programs regularly download, etc..On the failed downloads the error messages are: Codes: 643, 57, C355, 9. Updates either do not start to download at all or after about 20 minutes of preparing to download they will download and then fail.
my system is having a very high unstability. I've tried everything I can to make it more stable, yet I am falling into BSODs very often.I am running a Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate edition.I've finally decided to format my HDD in order to destroy all the previous data and start from a fresh table. My problem is the following:I have the serial key for this OS, yet I have lost the media. Is it anyhow possible for me to download the OS and burn it into a bootable DVD?I tried to search from MS store, but they all force me to pay for a new OS.. can not find an option to download the file.
I'm not sure if this is in the right section but here goes.Back in Dec '09, I purchased Windows7 Pro upgrade. I put it on a computer but I eventually sold it (with WinXP). I have just recently built a new computer that needs an OS. I have a key for Windows 7 Pro just sitting around and so I thought I'd use that.Problem is, I don't have an install disk. And I don't have an operating system currently on it so I can't upgrade.I'd like to clean install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on that computer but to do that, I need to download it.I've tried logging into the Microsoft store but it says I don't have any purchase history. I know that is false since I have an email with my information (but the order number doesn't work either). So as you can see, I'm in a pickle. If anyone can suggest how to get a download of Windows 7 pro
Windows Update was telling me it was downloading an update but it just stayed at 0%. When shutting down I get the message Windows is configuring Updates etc. but nothing happens so I have to turn the power off. I tried restoring to an earlier point but it keeps happening, even with Automatic Updates turned off.Which leads me to believe there's some temporary files or something at work here.Currently I have disabled the Update service & everything is fine. What I want to know is which files I can delete which will hopefully solve my problem?
i just installed windows 7 today my system spec is:
psu: 300w e7200 5670hd ati 500gb samsung spinpoint f3 120gb old hdd p5k se epu motherboard 4gb ddr2 800 ( 2 gbs from kinstone, 2x1gb kingmax )
it just freezes when i dl i first thought that the psu is not enough, but my old system was with a pentium D and i think that consumed more though and i didnt have any problems the gadget on the desktop indicated <5% use of cpu and ~20% use of ram when i last monitored it i havent made any updates to windows or motherboard ( the support cd is not supported by the win 7 )i updated only the graphic card?
I'm trying to download multiple files, not from those download sites but these are files full of wallpapers. I've tried the usual 'download accelerators' but they don't work for one reason or another. Is there a download accelerator/plug-in/add-on, etc. That works in Windows 7?
I just rebuilt my system -- new motherboard, CPU, memory, HDD and OS. My previous hard drive died. Fortunately, everything was backed up onto a portable hard drive using Windows Backup in Vista.
I went with a new full retail version of 64-bit Windows 7 on my rebuilt system. I now need to create the other User Accounts and restore all our files from the Vista backup. I want to make sure I don't mess things up, so I have two questions:
(1) Is there anything I need to do to make sure my Windows settings don't get messed up when I use that 32-bit Vista backup to restore my files onto my new 64-bit Windows 7 system?
(2) There are 4 user accounts on the backup (mine and 3 others). My account was, of course, created during the installation of W-7. Should I create the other 3 user accounts before running Restore, or do they get created automatically during the restore process?
