Well, every time I download a movie, my movies never seem to finish. The download tab says they're done downloading, but once I play them they are usually only 1/3 or half of the movie downloaded.

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy computer is old and has small hard drive space, and someone recommended I delete my %temp%, my temp, and my prefetch folder, but I was just wondering, since I had to do a whole lot of searching ,and downloading of drivers, (just to make my computer compatible with windows 7), where all my downloaded drivers are? And if deleting any of these folders will screw up my drivers, and give me problems, and I would have to find the drivers again.
(Also I don't really know what the drivers are called, so I can't really search for them) Because I really wanna delete these folders to make my computer faster, because on XP, where my drivers always worked and I never needed to update them, I deleted those folders all the time, and it made it faster because those folders had a crapload of stuff in them, but I don't want my computer to not be compatible with the games/videos/music/etc. I use it for.
I moved the Users folders from C: to D: one by one using the location tab from the folder properties ...When I finished surprisingly I found that the "Users" folder name became "Desktop" with its icon ... However I don't see my "real" desktop - by that I mean the remote machine spawns a sort of virtual desktop and shows me that - I can't run the graphic card control panel for instance - and if a monitor is plugged into the remote machine you just see the login screen not what I'm doing.
So is it possible to see the 'real' desktop using Microsoft Remote Desktop? Or do I have to find some other remote control software - like VNC or something like that.

I have been getting quite sporadic and random BSOD's over the past few weeks. The last piece of hardware I installed was 2x2gb sticks of ram which I installed in November 2011.The only real other hardware/software I installed recently was a Logitech webcam, which I uninstalled yesterday but still received an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD this morning around ten minutes after powering up.I have received other BSOD errors such as :

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
I have the Blue Screen Viewer and all the errors point back to NTOSKRNL.exe with various addresses, so they don't tell me much.I have updated the drivers to everything I can think of. I have ran memtest for a long time on all four sticks and then each stick seperately and they passed without any issues.I also ran CHKDSK and that came back with no bad sectors etc.On certain BSOD or freezes, the pc will not want to boot back into Windows straight away. The fans power up, I can feel the HDD whirring, but I get no BEEP and no signal to the two screens I have.
I'm using Matlab daily and I am using it in Real Time and I have some isues, so my friend told me how to put it on Real Time priorty in Task Manager...
I tried but I god error message: Unable to set Realtime priority. The priority was set to High instead...

The software is a console software (for Windows program it beaves a bit diffrent. only if the main thread make busy-wait without peeking messages it freezes)

Now I was wondering what happens if I had to replace my Hard Drive? It has a recovery partition to reset it to the default factory settings if the system becomes corrupt etc, which I hope I will never use. However, if the drive needs to be replaced (all drives go one day!!) then the recovery partition is no good any more.Pre-installed on the Laptop was the usual software bundles with trialware but more importantly the OS, in my case Windows 7.Would these recovery discs make the(eventual)new Hard Drive a REAL copy of the current one as it was when I first got it AND usable with all the software? My concern is for the copy of Windows 7.What else should I do? How could I save the Windows 7 OS? The manufacture doesn't give real discs any more!! Apart from back up discs, should I make another Recovery one again? If so, how often should I do these?

What I have been trying to do is to copy the "C:Users", "C:Program Files", & "C:Program Files (x86)" to another clean hard drive "D:".I'm doing this to make more room for the OS in the C: drive while date will be in the D: drive. Now I have successfully robocopy Program Files & Program Files (x86). I also have copied most of the Users directory but for this stubborn Realupdate directory. This is I think the real player program. I get this Access Denied and "Error 5" error. I am in elevated command prompt. I achieved this via the Repair your computer prompt on the Windows install DVD.I also have rmdir for Program Files & Program Files and have made a mklink for both of them so windows knows where they will be. But I have not did a full boot because I don't think windows will access my Users directory because they have been moved over to the new drive. What I can only do will have to be via the command prompt.
I can't make a mklink for Users because I get an error saying something about duplicate areas? What I was trying to do is go to this Realupdate directory but even trying to access that directory via cd commands will not work, giving me a access denied. Again I am in elevated command prompt Administrator:X:windowssystem32cmd.exe How can I get to that directory. I just want to delete it now since I have all the files I need. I just want to create a junction point for Users directory linked to the D: drive. I used the following command: mklink "D:Users" C:Users" /JGrant it the D and C are turned around but in Windows Recovery Console it mixes up the drive letters but I know what is the source drive and destination drive. I verified this via the Volume Drive Titles.
With widescreen monitors, which are pretty much the standard these days, there is always plenty of horizontal space, it's the vertical space that is at more of a premium. To take advantage of this I've done 2 things - First, I moved my taskbar to the left side of the screen, this gives me that much more vertical space in all programs.
The second thing is program-specific. I use Firefox and I certainly spend more time in it than any other program. I've installed 2 two add-ons, Vertical Bookmarks Toolbar and Compact Menu. They do just what their names imply - the first places my bookmarks toolbar to the left (or right, if you prefer) of the screen, the second compacts my entire Menu toolbar to a small icon that sits in the upper-left corner of the address bar. Getting rid of these 2 horz menu bars gives one a nice little chunk of additional real estate. It takes a bit getting used to, but once you do, it's great.
I've been doing a lot of research on this and I know this topic has been covered a million times, so please bear with me. I'm specifically wondering about the "file-optimization" features in third party defraggers such as Diskeeper or Iobit Smart Defrag (which I use). I know that Microsoft has refined their own defragger, but it seems to me that it has no obvious file optimization and it of course does not have real-time defragging. I've been using Iobit Smart Defrag for a long time and it seems to do a good job of keeping my computer in shape. But, if the Windows 7 defrag works good enough, I'd prefer to just use that and get rid of Smart Defrag to free up CPU and RAM. I'd obviously lose out on the real-time scanning, file optimization, and the boot time scan that Iobit just added to their latest release. But, are these features really necessary for fast, clean performance of Windows 7? Or are these just gimics from third party companies to get me to purchase their software.

After, I did a spybot scan and it found something like "chameleonman toolbar". I deleted it. Im not sure if it was this program or some other things because I did try other programs earlier.
