Disabled Administrator, Can't Re-enable

Dec 1, 2012

The built in Administrator account is disabled, there is a user Admin account that was enabled with a password, and one Standard user account that is enabled. While logged into the Standard account, I ran elevated command prompt meaning to run:"net user Administrator active:yes"but instead I had a brain fart and ran:"net user Admin active:no"Now all that is active is the Standard account, which requires Admin's password to perform just about anything. Running in Safe Mode didn't reveal the hidden Administrator account, allow me to run elevated command prompt again, or allow me to log into Admin to fix the problem.

Sleep Function Disabled / How To Enable

Aug 24, 2009

I downloaded the RC over the summer to try it out, alongside linux mint. I like it so much that I've decided to abandon the linux distro for now and let Windows 7 take over my whole hard drive. The one thing remaining before falling in love is the lack of standby mode. The sleep function is grayed out in the start menu, so I can't even put it to sleep. This is annoying because I'm using a laptop at school, which I would like to put on standby (instead of hibernating) between classes. This is a 100% fresh install. It was the first thing I tried once the install finished, because I had trouble with the previous Windows 7 install.

Enable / Activate Administrator Account?

Feb 13, 2011

I tried to enable/activate my administrator account by following these steps:

1. Open the Local Users and Groups manager.

2. In the left pane, click on the Users folder.

3. In the middle pane, right click on Administrator and click on Properties.

4. To Enable the Buit-in Administrator Account Uncheck the Account is disabled box.after creating enabling the administrator account I just rename it to my interested nickname and I set a password for that. But I still have to run some programs as "Run as Administrator" while I am in administrator account!. I can also see and access to all of stored file and folders (which I saved as Administrator in my document) when I log in as a standard user!I also enable / activate Hidden Administrator Account by this way:

1. Type "secpol.msc" in RUN dialog box or Startmenu search box, it'll open "Local Security Policy" window.

2. Goto "Local Policies -> Security Options".

3. Double-click on first option "Accounts: Administrator account status" and select "Enabled" and apply it.

How To Enable Administrator From Basic Account

Nov 22, 2011

I currently have a Non-Administrator account and so very limited what can be done on the computer (i.e., cannot install or uninstall software). The hidden Administrator account has been disabled, along with any other account which may have access to perform Administrator commands (even the guest account). Is there anyway to get around this problem, through the likes of command prompt which will enable me to gain full Admin rights once again?

Why Doesn't Local Administrator Group Have Full Administrator Rights

Feb 22, 2010

A little background and info: I support a number of people who for one reason or another need to be able to do things a local admin can do like install programs and start services (or more accurately allow a program they're running to start a service). All users are in the local administrators group. The local admin account is enabled (and renamed) so that we as administrators have local access when the machine comes in for service. The machines are joined to a AD domain so that we can control a lot of the security via GPO. Everything worked fine in XP.

We are getting a few different "you do not have permission" errors. When the user tries to run OpenAFS (which starts a service) they get a "you do not have permission" error. There is no way around this error.

Also, when the users try to run Lotus Notes they get a "you do not have permission" error. When we go into compatibility mode and check the "run as administrator" (or just right click and "run as administrator) it works fine, but they have to click the elevated privileges. The program was installed while logged in as the user.

Again, all users are members of the local administrators group. When the local admin account logs in all these programs run fine. This behavior started in Vista and I chalked it up to "vista sucks". Windows 7 so far seems to be great, except that like in vista, members of the local administrators group are not really local administrators. How do I make them true local administrators?

Drag & Drop Works For Hidden Administrator But Not For Administrator User?

Feb 14, 2011

I use an old XP app (JetToolbar - available at JetToolBar - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com) and do not want to change but I cant make it work on Windows 7. The application installs and starts up just fine but it is not possible to drag icons/programs/files to the toolbar - I just get the 'no entry' sign (Circle with line through)However, the application runs fine when logged on to the hidden Administrator account. If I set up the application in the hidden Admin account and then log on as a normal admin user and run it from that account, the icons I set up are just not visible. So what do I have to change in my normal user account (member of administrators) to make this drag and drop work?I have tried 'Run as administrator' but that made no difference. Ive read about dropping to 'Run as User' apps from 'Run as Admin' apps but that's not the problem (at least problem occurs when app is run as user or run as admin)

Program Won't Run Correctly Unless UAC Is Disabled?

Feb 4, 2011

I have a program (written by a community member for this game) that hooks into the game itself, and grabs the onscreen text. Now, the program itself works, but only when UAC is disabled. I can run it as administrator, and approve the changes it makes to the computer, however it still won't work unless the UAC is disabled.Do any of you guys know what the problem is? When UAC is off, the program does not need administrator priviledges. When the UAC's on, when the program starts up it the UAC makes its appearance and asks if you'd like to allow this program to make changes, and i always click "yes." So I don't understand why, even though i allow it to make changes, it still can't do those changes. My friend, the one who showed me it, runs XP and has no problem with it. if you want the link for it, if you need it, i can get you it. It's pretty simple really, just the program and a .DLL file that goes with it.

LAN Connection Gets Disabled By Itself On Idle?

Feb 21, 2012

A few days ago I tried connecting a MBlaze modem to my laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit) to access internet. But it resulted in instant BSOD everytime. I deleted the modem software after that & didn't try to connect it again. But now, whenever I connect using my LAN broadband, connection works fine as long as I am continuously browsing something. But as soon as I stop browsing and it goes in idle mode in about 10-15 minutes, the connection gets disconnected and in the Broadcom Netlink Ethernet properties it shows "No drivers are available for this device". The only solution to this is a forced shutdown & restart, after which it works fine untill not idle. I am not able to download anything because of this. I tried many things like reinstalling the network adapter driver, unchecking the power management feature, resetting the connection, etc. but nothing is working.
