Somehow I managed to remove the "Desktop" item on the shortcut pane in Explorer - which also affects Common Dialog boxes. It is incredibly annoying as I use this shortcut all the time.

For internet, desktop is connected through LAN cable and laptop through WiFi. Can I use RDC between them without wired connection and using router/internet?
I have a fresh install of win 7 64 bit Home Premium. When I right click on a shortcut and open its properties dialog, the only tabs i get are "General", "Compatibility", "Security", "Details", and "Previous Versions", but no "Shortcut" tab. I have searched the Web and there are very few instances of this problem and no solution. I have tried everything I can think of with no success.

I could swear when I first installed Windows 7 that it was setup to be a shortcut to the "computer". However, it now always opens up to the "libraries". When you click the folder icon in the navigation area of Windows Explorer (at the top - next to the three arrows), sometimes you get the actual path (I want that to be the default, but since Vista it's not) and sometimes you get a shortcut created in the folder you're in. I never want that behavior. How can I stop it from creating a shortcut (I otherwise WANT to create shortcuts, but never that way.) I want to control the text in the navigation window to ALWAYS show the real path (C:My Games), for example, instead of some useless representation (Computer > Local Disk ( C: ) > My Games), which is the current default.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo here's something weird. On a firends computer, he has a folder on the desktop that appears to be a duplicate of the users folder in the Users folder. It shows it's on the desktop when you open the Computer icon and in your browse window it's there. You can select it and it opens up and it's exactly the same as the user folder of the same name.
If you right click it, you don't reaaqlly get anything. It doesn't have a shortcut display either.If you look at the actual desktop, it's not there. Only in the browse window. I went and switched back to Firefox as default but I have a few internet programs that do not run in Firefox so I had the desktop shortcuts set to open with IE. When I switched Firefox back to default my links switched also. When I open the properties of the link, before you could choose the program you wanted it to open with and uncheck the "make this default" box. Now this box is greyed out.
