View 1 Replies View Relatedi set up my shortcuts to be opened by Adobe reader (by accident). You know how you can left click on an icon and select from the menu OPEN WITH..., well by accident i clicked on a shortcut and selected it to be opened by Adobe reader, And now all my shortcuts in START menu are being opened by Abobe reader . Of course it doesnt work. I dont know how to reverse it... Please let me know how to make shortcuts to be opened by shortcut exe. This is my work computer and it is very annoying that none of the shortcuts work in START menu. I have to actually go to the C drive and find the folder with actual program im trying to use. I tried creating a new shortcut just to see if the new one will work and it would creat it with adobe reader icon. I click on it and it says that it cannot be read.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I define keyboard shortcuts for different open application windows. This is something I do in Linux and it helps a lot when I have many windows open. Example: I have Internet explorer open, I give it shortcut Ctrl+Shift+A Then for example VLC player is open, I give it a Ctrl+shift+B
Then I can just press these keys and go from one window to another. This makes a lot of sense when I have 40 windows open. Pressing Alt+tab is not as efficient as this.
How do I disable the infernal obnoxious and useless desktop cleanup that keeps deleting the shortcuts I put on the desktop.

With Windows XP, I used to just drag an icon there and it would stay. I haven't been able to do that with Win 7.
I'm not sure if Quickmenu is the right term. I mean a portion of the taskbar that holds icons so one can conveniently launch one's most often used applications from there when the desktop icons are hidden by already open windows.
If I right click on the desktop/new/shortcut, nothing happens. Before I had a window open to input the data for the shortcut.

Tried Sondle Virtual Desktop Assist Software but that just switches between same desktop but session only open/close of availiable programs.

Using Windows 7 Pro (32 bit) Everything going on well then all pf a sudden, I lose all my short-cuts on my desktop.
I know they are still there as I can see them in the Desktop folder in my branch of Users (I am the only user!)
If I try to put another short-cut on everything goes ahead quite normally until I complete - and then the screen is still blank of short-cuts, but the new short-cut is in my Desktop folder as it should be It's just as though they are hidden.
Is there any known reason and fix, when Windows 7 Enterprise desktop shortcut key stops to work?Win+D doesn't, while Win+E works.When hiding other applications and revealing desktop, application shortcut keys don't work from desktop but start from task bar icons.

I went to my start and my computer/destop/documents files weren't there. I tryed ctrl+alt+delete i opened up taskmanager and it closes really fast. Also a erro spams my screen- Windows-Delayed Write Failed - "Failed to save components for the files \system32\00002cd4. Tje files is corrupted or unreadable. This erro may be caused by a PC Hardware Probem".

Somehow I ended up with duplicate shortcuts and icons for each one that was originally on the computer desktop (even those I was not moving). These duplicates are not useable - they cannot be right clicked; they do not highlight when hovered over.
