Dell OEM Disk And Retail Product Key Compatibility

From my workplace I have been literally given stacks of Dell OEM (re installation DVDs) Windows 7 Professional disks. I have installed a couple of them on test machines and, naturally, do not pass the WGA. So I'm planning to buy a few 'retail product keys' from eBay to use on my home machines.
I was wondering if the retail product keys (Win 7 Pro) will work with the Dell OEM disks. I have done the same thing with a Dell OEM Windows Vista Business re-installation disk and a retail product key bought from online used with a non-Dell computer with no issues (except the Dell logo is embedded in the Control Panel).
Has anyone tried this before? Because I don't know if Dell has modified the disks to accept only Dell systems and OEM product keys?

can i somehow use my vista disc at some point to allow the Windows 7 retail install to upgrade the Windows 7 RC AND NOT HAVE TO REINSTALL MY PROGRAMS?
i currently have vista 32 bit home premium. i have the install discs for it too.
i want to create another partition and put Windows 7 RC 64 bit on it (dual boot).
i have Windows 7 home premium pre ordered.
i want to upgrade Windows 7 RC to the retail when it comes out, WITHOUT REINSTALLING MY PROGRAMS.
i read the Windows 7 retail discs will allow you to upgrade the Windows 7 RC, but you will have to reinstall programs.
i am wondering if using the vista disc will allow me to upgrade and keep my programs.

My question is; are Windows 7 RTM retail product keys locked to a particular installation CD, or can they be used with any retail installation CD? (As long as they haven't been used before or are associated with a different edition of course).

I have 4 copies of Windows 7 Home Premium on pre-order that should be delivered within the next few days.
I also purchased the $30 "Educational" download of Windows 7 Home Premium, downloaded it, and created a DVD.
I was able to install the EDU version without incident on one PC, however I haven't activated that install yet.
My question is this: Can I use the EDU install DVD to upgrade/clean install my and my family's PCs without activating yet, then just activate later using the RETAIL keys once they arrive?
I'm not trying to cheat anything--ultimately, I will have all proper licenses. It's just that the timing is such that I have the opportunity to do several installs tonight, and it would be helpful if I could install now using the EDU DVD and activate with the RETAIL keys later.

I had a scare with my computer yesterday and almost had to reinstall but realized that my install disk seems to be missing. I was wondering if I borrowed a windows 7 home premium install disc from my friend would I be able to use my product key (On bottom of laptop) to install correctly using their disc.

I was looking at getting windows 7 and hoping to do clean installs on a couple of machines and don't know which version to choose. I was looking at the w7 professional upgrade because I read that you can do a clean install with the upgrade disc and it's cheaper but I was not sure because I have an xp pro upgrade disc which says in the manual you can do a clean install but I could not (tried to put it on my laptop and do a clean install over vista but wouldn't let me.)
If you can do that, what is the difference between an upgrade clean install and the regular install disc? My other question is, if I buy the full retail version how many machines can I install it on and will they go into non genuine mode after the product key is used once?

I Reinstalled Windows 7 on my Dell laptop, using a normal (microsoft) dvd.I installed in 64 bit, while the Dell dvd was only for 32 bit.After 30 days, i got a message that my product was not activated and not genuine. After some calls to microsoft and Dell, they said that i have to reinstall Windows 7 using the Dell dvd.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 and I'm still running Windows XP. I would like to upgrade my operating system to Windows 7. Will this PC run Windows 7 OS? My Dell PC has two hard drive bays; can I simply pick up a generic SATA hard drive on Amazon, along with a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium? Then connect the hard drive and install the new OS disk...? Do I have this right? Will this work? Or should I just ditch this old tower PC and shop for a brand new PC or laptop?

I have a HP computer that needs a clean install of windows. Problem is it has windows vista. I do not have the oem disk for the hp and the restore isnt working on the computer. Sooo I took my dell oem win7 disk and just did a clean install on the computer. Worked fine didnt ask for any sort of cd key for windows upon install either, but under windows activations says it has 3 days till automatic activation... what does this mean>? Will i be ok using this? or do i need to purchase a hp oem disk?

I need to put Windows 7 on a new internal hard drive that's in my Samsung laptop. I found someone who has a Windows 7 disk for sale, unopened, along with the drivers disk, but it says Dell on it. Would it work on my Samsung laptop, even though it's not a Samsung hard drive, or would it only be made to work on a Dell computer?

I have a Dell desktop with windows vista 32 bit on it but only have a 'reinstallation' disk. Is there a way to install windows 7 64 bit upgrade (yes, hardware will support the 64 bit) even though I only have the 'reinstallation' disk....or am I hosed and will have to buy the full install version of Windows 7?

Dell Vostro 1510 Laptop upgraded from vista to win 7 and win 7 only worked one time. Goes from windows starting to black screen. The cursor shows on screen. Will not boot from Windows 7 disk. Opening in safe mode results in black screen.

I managed to fix the cd/dvd drive at first and now it reads cd/dvd with something stored in it. However my problem comes when I try to burn something on blank disk. My computer( dell dimension e521) wont read the blank disk at all.
* I tried the Upper and Lower filter and cleaned the disk lens and saw that all SATA cable are good.

I bought a gateway pc about 6 months ago and I am having major issues with it, I have had a few people I game with have alook and they seem to think its a hardware issue. I have reinstalled windows from the recovery partition once with no change. The machine is taking 20 minutes to post, any ways, I have decided to replace the mobo with a better board form a local electronics store. Will I be able to reuse the windows 7 key that came with this machine?I am not opposed to buying another copy but, That will stop me from upgrading a different system to win 7 32. I know that replacing my mobo will void any joke of a warranty i have left but to be So tdlr is, If i replace mobo is factory build pc. do i need to spend another 100 bucks for a os.I will have to buy the install disk anyways but the "new key" would sure be nice on my old laptop that's running vista now

I made an ISO of my genuine Windows 7 Professional upgrade DVD and then downloaded a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate ISO. While I was deleting the ei.cfg file, I noticed that the folders and files are all the same. So is there any difference between the upgrade DVD and the retail DVD?
