View 1 RepliesI recently bought a DELL STUDIO 1555 on June 12.
Since Free windows upgrade is for the systems purchased after June 26 i am not getting a upgrade.
I am from INDIA. I contacted Dell Customer Service here. They said i cannot purchase it from them also. Actually they had very less information about Windows 7. All they just said is that since my system is bought before June 26 i am not eligible. They had no further information about it.
I have Two Questions
Q1. Why Can't i purchase OEM version of windows 7 from DELL?
Q2.Since my laptop is shipped with OEM version of WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT SP1, if i purchase a WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM UPGRADE PACK from Microsoft / Amazon etc,.
Can i install it on my machine ??
Can i install WINDOWS 7 by formatting C Drive or should it be installed over Vista ??

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe CNET site, Studio 1535 review shows my Intel T8100 as a 64 bit VISTA OS but is came with VISTA 32. I would like to reformat and load a fresh 64 bit Windows 7. Is this possible, and will 32-bit Vista drivers work with a 64 bit Windows 7 OS?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to have gotten myself into a problem. I bought a computer with Vista 32 bit Home Premium installed. I wanted a 64 bit OS, so I requested & received a 64 bit version of Vista from Dell. My Windows 7 upgrade discs arrived from Dell, but they're for 32 bit Windows 7 (based on my original configuration) and not 64 bit. I've been told that I need to custom install Win 7 and format the partition that has the 64 bit version so that I don't lose my "free upgrade" status. Does that sound right?
SEcondly, is there another way around this? I have some upgrade discs from other systems, can I use those & just enter the product key from my 32-bit Dell discs?
In general, can Vista drivers be used in Windows 7? I notice some of my equipment has drivers for Vista, but not W7. Is this because the manufacturer simply has not got around to producing W7 drivers?ermissions - Is there a way to take ownership of the entire hard drive? It seems like every time I turn around I have another folder that will not allow me to interact without changing the permissions.

I am unable to log into my laptop I am using an older Dell with Vista SP2 now.and evidently having trouble with this keyboard.running windows 7 64bit SP1
I accidently set it up that I would have to log in .I haven't found a solution to remove this until last night through a "tweaker" I found.Unfortunately I can't remember the name. They had an option to remove this password which I clicked on. When I tried to log on tonight the log in was still there and on top of that my old password did not work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having this really weird problem.
I am currently running a GeForce 9500 GT on vista and have tried upgrading to Windows 7 release candidate 1 from Vista. The problem is, Windows 7 doesn't like the Nvidia drivers I have on my system. So I uninstalled them. Completely. Restarted. Tried the upgrade again, and boom! Still can't upgrade because Nvidia drivers / nview desktop manager (yes, that is what it says).
I have literally restarted my computer 20 times, uninstalling, reinstalling and whateverinstalling. I have no idea what to do in order to upgrade to windows 7. The drivers or my actual hardware is not letting me upgrade.
my web cam is no longer working after formatting my machine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Studio XPS 435MT 920 i7, 6Gb, Vista 64BIT SP2 has motherboard Nvidea High Definition Audio 0-3 (total 4) Channels-Driver 1.3.12.0 in Device Manager and Realtec High Definition Audio x1-Driver 6.0.1.6602. All are indicating Working Properly. But my Vista system sounds and all audio movie/recording playback has suddenly vanished. I've tried to make sure all the software audio systems are not muted or turned off, disabled, all turned to max volume. The stereo/bass sytem works fine on another PC and that other working system also doesn't work on the Dell 435MT. This also happened some time ago and a system restore recovered it but now my restore has not worked (not old enough?). The only recent events are normal updates on system and drivers and a fault with an AcGenral.dll when an exe file is launched. The motherboard seems to work ok as tapping the microphone leads to sound out on the speakers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new video card for my old Acer M3100 that I dual boot the original Vista and Windows 7 on. I bought a new Asus Nvidia GeForce GT 610 video card to play Skyrim. Windows 7 will install the drivers with absolutely no error messages but upon rebooting they won't load and I'm stuck with basic VGA. I booted out and back to Vista and loaded them and they installed fine as well and upon rebooting into Vista they actually load! My Windows 7 install is a recent clean install because I tried upgrading to Windows 8 and didn't do a clean install and it borked itself on all my legacy hardware. Does anyone know why a clean install won't load new video card drivers but my old Vista install loads them fine? (Yet another reason not to abandon the Vista Beast, Vista is the last OS that recognizes my (2) Rio Karma MP3 Players.)I downloaded the latest drivers for Windows 7 Pro 64Bit directly from Nvidias website and installed them and still get a "No GPU detected" message when trying to run the NVidia software that comes with the drivers.
NVidia Driver Version: 306.97
I've just updated my Acer Notebook to Windows 7. I've installed all the drivers that Acer supplies for Windows 7.
But what about the drivers that are not supplied? Should I install the ones that Acer supplies for Vista or stick with the 'pre-installed' drivers by Windows 7 ... Everything seems to work with the pre-installed ones.
And how do I check wether or not the Intel Turbo Memory is working correctly?
I have been trying, for the last 2 days, to install Win 7 (64 bit) to my Dell XPS 720. I performed the pre-install check and it reported no problems. As I was going from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit I knew I would have to perform a clean install.
I have installed about 6 times over the last couple of days and the system seems fine for maybe 20 minutes at which point one of two things happens. either
1. it reboots after a brief blue screen message regarding BAD_POOL_HEADER (too quick to read)
2. it hangs and performs a dump with a BSOD regarding NVSTOR.SYS
I'm assuming that the problem is with the NVSTOR.SYS driver(s) for the motherboard NVIDIA RAID arrays. I have 4 disks in 2 RAID 0 arrays of a 1TB each.
Dell does not list the PC as Win 7 compatible and there are no Windows 7 64 bit RAID drivers listed although it does list Vista 64 bit drivers as a download. I have tried these but Windows 7 doesn't seem to want to update the driver saying I already have the latest drivers installed (from the Windows 7 DVD).
Anyone else had this problem and been able to cure it. I'm writing this from the PC with the 32 bit version installed and working fine. I need 64 bit to address the 8gb of memory for some very intensive video and photoshop work I do.
Can someone confirm whether i should use XP or vista drivers for my devices in Windows 7, i have used XP where i can so far and have had no problems?

And, my PC has low framerate in Flash Games ( When intense ), but that isn't normal is it? The flash player version is 10.
I currently have a HP Pavilion dv6799ep running Windows Vista Premium 32-bit, but I got a new license for Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and I would like to know if the Windows Vista 64-bit drivers will work on this version.
