sometimes if I hit the button to eject the drive, it acts like its about to eject but doesn't, and if I try again the same result occurs. If I hit it two or three times it will eject but it doesnt always at the first push of the button.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to load battlefield bad company 2, sims, dvd's, and cd's on my computer, but when I go to My Computer and double click the dvdrw's, windows says it needs to format the disk.
if I press format, it has an error, if I dont, it also has an error.
I have installed 3 dvdrws that I have tested and had working in another computer, and the same goes for each one.
When I insert a disk, the mouse cursor shows the little CD right by it, but nothing happens after it blinks a few times.
Bios recognizes each dvdrw drive, they will boot windows 7 disk before loading windows even, disk management shows each one is working good.
I got one dvd to read through a third party program called dvd decrypter. I didn't go as far as to see if it would copy to the hdd, but it showed all the files.
I used another third party software to analyze the sims2 disk to see if it could copy (i didnt have the full version so I couldnt copy it onto the hdd) but it did show the files as well.
I cannot see any music disks, cdrws disks, dvd's, etc in itunes or windows media player.
My external dvd rive is not working due to a bad drive I assume. How do I fix?
View 8 Replies View Relatedmy transcend 16gb pendrive connects n disconnects constantly.when connected eset smart security 5 detects it but when scanned,says error opening.the pendrive is not seen in any other windows except in device manager,while not in storage.I tried in safe mode too,but still the same.It shows the same signs in any other computers or laptops.I have windows 7.The pendrive doesnt gets heated however long u keep in ports and shows blinking of light as usual

I shut it down for tyhe night and the next morning, when I started the computer, my mouse and keyboard lighted up.How can I manage to recover windows ?or enter windows 7 to undo the driver update ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOccasionally, my laptop's touchpad won't work on start-up. This does not happen all the time, it appears to happen every other boot. I can plug a USB mouse at any moment and have that work fine. This also only happens on Windows 7 from what I can tell, as I dual-boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu has never given me this problem before. I can also use safe mode with Windows 7 and have the touchpad function fine all the time.

I initially got an error on both drives for "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. (code 52)"
Both listed the cdrom.sys driver but also the unsigned file GEARAspiWDM.sys in the windowssystem32 directory.
I figured I'd rename the GEAR file and uninstall/reinstall the drivers for the optical drives, but it just tells me that it loaded cdrom.sys but can't load any device driver for the hardware.
Device manager shows them with yellow caution tales and lists both reasons as "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)
On the driver details tab both show C:windowssystem32cdrom.sys as the driver and it shows it as signed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 Dell Studio 1550 laptop computers disc drive has been acting up for a little while now, like having to insert a DVD twice before it starts to autoplay with Windows Media Player (WMP). Just little things like that. Now when I try to play my audiobook I got today and it isn't recognized by WMP. When the look in Windows Explorer the files it contains are garbage- default style files of size 1kb with default track names like: Track01, Track02....Thinking that it could be that the CD might be readable on normal car CD players and similar, I double check with an old CD that I burnt myself a couple weeks ago. It doesn't recognize that either and it Win Explorer displays the same garbage.WM Player does literally nothing when it is told to play to it, and VLC tells me that:"Your input can't be opened: In desperation I try the original CD in my gaming tower. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been unable to access my F: drive. When I double click on the drive I get en error that says "Application Not Found". I can, however right click on the drive and open it that way, it's just extremely annoying. It doesn't matter what device is set as the F: drive, be it a UBS drive, a virtual drive, or a CD/DVD drive, it gives me the same error. At first I thought maybe there was something wrong with my USB drive, but if I use the same USB drive as E:, G:, H: etc. it works perfectly fine. The problem seems to lie specifically with F: drive itself. I've run all my virus scans (Norton and Malwarebytes) as well as PC Tools Registry Mechanic and found nothing. I even restored my system to about a week ago with no results.

When I click on the lower left file icon (next to the start button) It of course opens up a window to view my hard drives, favorites, desktop, etc. The issue is it now opens up an additional window every time I click on something I want to browse in my hard drive.For instance if I want to watch an episode of Family Guy on my PC I first click on the small file icon then " Fmovies/Family Guy/Season 10"I have 4 separate windows pop up to finally view the file I want to reach and have to close each one whenever I'm done. Some files are deeper embedded in my PC so I sometimes have to close up to 6-7 windows. It's an extreme annoyance. I clearly remember when I first installed Win 7 that it would just open one window and would browse anywhere in my hard drive and wouldn't pop open any additions windows.

I wonder if it could maybe that these are from a different windows based os and maybe incompatible with this computer? could it be a 32bit/64bit problem? or maybe a different file system?
