DNS Server Not Responded Or Ip Conflict?

Dec 15, 2012

I am having 2 issues with my computer and because of that I am losing internet connection intermittently.

1) Problem 1 - I lose internet connections very frequently. My PC drops connection and connects back with in 1 min. When I checked system event I see the log as below. -- Name resolution for the name dns.msftncsi.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. here dns.msftncsi.com is just one server, but I do see logs for other server as well.

2)Problem 2 - Time to time I get IP conflict issues. I don't have fixed IP address. The system detected an address conflict for IP address 192.168.0.4 with the system having network hardware address 90-21-55-E8-29-C8. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.

Initially I thought both problems was todo with my ISP provider, but I begin to think it could be issue with my computer as my ISP provider tried everything from their side such as changing modem, router..etc.

My computer is windows 7, intel core i7 Q720@1.60GHZ, 8GB Ram.

Video Driver Conflict

Nov 21, 2009

I have just assembled a Tiger Direct barebones kit with Win 7 64 bit home premium.

ASUS motherboard with onboard ATI graphics, and a Radeon HD 4350 graphics card to boost graphics performance. The machine tends to shut down with a BSOD which provides this error message.

I can't access the two help files--not sure what to use to open the .dmp file--I don't see a Windows 7 version of software to open than, and while I am the administrator for the machine under my own login, I'm told I don't have admin rights and need permission to open the file. I reviewed the permissions and don't see any more I can have, so I'm perplexed.

At the same time, my tech friends suggest my problem is likely to be a driver conflict between the onboard and the video card and I should work on resolving this. When I check DM the Radeon video card shows no conflicts and says it's working correctly.

In the meantime, my digital monitor works on the analog video outputs both from the motherboard and the graphics card, but neither DVI output works. I've got the latest available drivers for the Radeon card and the Windows 7 check for Samsung drivers says the PnP driver is the latest available. Samsung shows no new drivers for Windows 7.

NIC Conflict Is Affecting Photoshop?

Apr 7, 2011

I noticed a couple weeks ago that my mouse/pointer was moving erattically in photoshop. Upon a left mouse click, whatever tool I was using would jump where it should not be (eg the move tool would displace a layer after a left click, or the brush tool would add a swipe of color where it shouldn't be, or the marquee tool, refusing to de-select because it would add a new selection at a new mouse click)--and this has been causing massive frustrations to say the least.I'm on a Windows 7 64-bit install, Quad core, 2.8Ghz, 8Gig RAM system. After chasing the problem for a few days, it appears to be caused by a PCI network interface card. If I remove the card, the behavior goes away... But if I only disable the card in devices, the problem persists. I've tried updating the drivers, but this doesn't help. The problem card is a Rosewell, which uses a RTL8100C chipset. I tried a Belkin PCI NIC to see if that would help (chipset 8139a), but it causes the same erattic behavior. So, I'm looking at a system problem (not a photoshop problem), maybe a hardware conflict. Photoshop is the only program in which I've noticed the behavior. My first step has been ordering an Intel PCI-express card, which uses an Intel 82574L chipset (rather than Realtek).

PCI Fax Modem Could Not Be Opened - Possible Hardware Conflict

Oct 16, 2012

I want to use Windows Fax and Scan on an HP desktop computer running Win 7 Home Premium. I bought an inexpensive internal PCI fax modem and installed it, which seemed to go without problem. Device Manager reports it is working properly, but when I use the Diagnostics to query the modem I get an error that the port the modem is attached to could not be opened because of a possible hardware conflict.. The modem log reports the following:

10-16-2012 12:20:39.662 - Modem type: PCI SoftV92 Modem
10-16-2012 12:20:39.662 - Modem inf path: oem28.inf
10-16-2012 12:20:39.662 - Modem inf section: Modem3
10-16-2012 12:20:39.662 - Matching hardware ID: pciven_14f1&dev_2f30&subsys_205114f1
10-16-2012 12:20:39.724 - Opening the modem device failed with error 000005aa

The computer has no built-in COM ports (strictly USB), and the modem, like almost all internal modems, installs iteself on virtual port COM3. When I try to change the port to *any* other COM port, I get an error that the port has been opened by another application.

Belkin N+ USB Wireless Causing Conflict

Dec 6, 2009

I'm having a problem with using USB network adapters, I've tried three different ones and they all end up shutting off my computer every few hours. It is some form of USB conflict I can't seem to fix.

I tried switching to a PCI card, but since I happen to be in a corner in the house having the wireless adapter on top of the desk is the only thing that seems to get me any sort of signal. But the USB Adapters all persist in shutting me down. Just a hard-shutoff with no warning, all of a sudden bam, its just powered off.

Right now I'm using a Belkin N+ USB Adapter. Any ideas on how to correct this issue? I have several other USB devices plugged in as well: KVM switch, external hard drive, webcam, mouse+keyboard.

Different Conflict Between Headphones And Onboard Speakers?

May 26, 2012

I've been using an Asus ROG G51J gaming laptop for a while now, and a couple months back, I noticed this weird problem. Occasionally, when my headphones were plugged in, I'd hear this popping noise. Sometimes it was just one pop in minutes, sometimes it sounded like machinegun fire. After a bit of investigation, I realized that for the duration of each pop (a fraction of a second, at most) my computer would play sound through its onboard speakers instead of the headphones. It didn't seem to change based on what programs I had running or what devices I had connected to the computer, and restarting the machine entirely only temporarily defeated the problem.

Conflict Between USB Input Device And Digital Receiver?

Apr 30, 2012

I do use a online USB foot pedal that is used for transcription. I have two plugs powering the system, one for the monitor and the other to the CPU, connected to a extension cord with 5 sockets. To the rest of the sockets I had my DTH (digital tv receiver) and a small tv connected. With this setup, when I am working with my footpedal, it works for 1/2 an hour with proper play, rewind, and forward controls. After 1/2 an hour, it starts acting weird and begins to control itself in that it plays stops rewinds continuously by itself making it difficult for me. At first I thought it is driver issue and reinstalled and installed and tried all methods. I do get lot of errors at such times if I change the USB port for the pedal during the times of this issue. However, the moment I switch the DTH off from the power source. It all seemed to be working fine again without any issue.

Considering that, I thought it may be due to some voltage problem with distribution of power and I connected the DTH set seperately out to an entirely different AC wall socket but same room. Again, for the first half an hour the pedal controls works fine, and then the same thing happens and the moment I switch the DTH receiver off, its all back to normal.

Geforce GTX 590 In Conflict With Windows During Triple Monitor Setup

Dec 1, 2011

It may be because there are 3 DVI ports on the one card but Win 7 does not recognise all 3 monitors, only 2.

On the contrary the Nvidia control panel recognises all 3 monitors and I am able to configure all 3 screens with a res of 5760 / 1080. All is fine until I reboot and then nothing. All monitors blank. I can only assume that it's because of a conflict with the Nvidia driver (latest) and windows.

My question is, is it possible to force windows to recognise all 3 monitors?

Windows 2008 Server Or Linux For Server

Oct 16, 2009

Have been a LONG LONG user of Linux as a server (hosting VM's XP / Windows 7 mix) and file / print sharing.

I used to avoid MS like the plague as far as SERVER environments are concerned - probably because my first experince was Windows NT (Windows NeanderThal or Windows No Thanks) which was SO HORRIBLE that it put me off Windows servers for ages.

(Note I'm using a server in a HOME environment where we have around 8 machines (most of which are actually mine for testing -- not a corporate environment which has other considerations).

The problem now with the latest Linux distros that they are trying to be "A Better Windows than Windows". You can of course customize them but I haven't got the time or patience to do this any more. To select what packages to install / leave out now is a 100% pain and if you do it wrong the chances are the system will give errors.

I've looked at the new SUSE 11.2 -- slick and polished - bit I don't NEED "an alternative Windows".

I've just been looking at Windows Server 2008 R2 (got it from Technet) and I'm REALLY IMPRESSED with it so far. I've installed the STANDARD version - you don't need datacenter or Enterprise version for a home server.

It runs vmware server on it just fine (although I might go the whole hog and use the Hyper-V virtualisation -- need to do a bit more research).

I'm quite happy letting MS do the updates than having to mess around with Kernel compiles etc.

Incidentally as a HOME server there are some considerations that you might want to do to make it more like a Desktop OS than a pure server for example add multi-media to it.

This guy does a great job at this .

Convert your Windows Server 2008 R2 to a Workstation! - Multiboot Installation

Windows 7 VM's run just fine on W2008 server (they should as there is a lot of common code).

Missing Dns Server, Missing Rpc Server No Internet?

Jul 16, 2012

i have a 2006 acer laptop that just recently decided not to get onto the internet. it will connect to the network but no internet. i have looked at more forums than i can count but to no avail. i will try to list the problems/symptoms but i am not familiar with programming language and don't know exactly what all the command prompts are suppoed to achieve and the like.-isatap ipv6 adapter is not working (some people say it does'nt matter but???)-ip address starts with 169-ipconfig /release and release6 does not workbecause "an address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint"-ipconfig /flushdns does not work because "function failed during execution"-cannot displaydns because "dns cache is unavailable"-cannot registerdns because "rpc server is unavailable"-checked my services and found some dependant ones that i could not manually start ERROR1075: DNS client service, tcp/ip netbios helper, routing and remote access, internetconnection sharing (ics). all failed to start with the same error code 1075-ERROR 10022- netlogon service-tried "netsh int ip reset" but reset echo request failed. "access denied". i am the admin for this computer. it worked the first time i tried it with no errors. now i get the failed echo message.

-cannot setclassid "as know adapter is in a state permissable for this action"-i saw something about the dhcp-read on one forum that people were having trouble after deleting norton(symantc) programs. i have deleted norton programs and think i got all of them (how to be sure?)-netsh winsock reset successfully-tried regrepair, regseeker, and a few of those "free download" programs that say they will fix your problems after you register/purchase them. i figure if the computer can stop working so easily i can get it to start as easily. maybe that's naivety speaking.-i have scanned my cpu for viruses (naturally) with 3-4 different programs (maybe norton would have found something).clean-thought it might have something to do with the registery since i had a nasty virus everal months ago that i think changed it somehow.-of course my system restore points are dated after this problem occured.-i bought the computer at staples and it did not come with a windows startup disc.

i can't think of any more though i know i've tried more than is listed. the dns and rpc servers seem to be the main coulprits but how do i fix that? also possibly the norton issue? i've read so many forums i'm seeing triple and everyone seems to suggest the same things. i've tried them so many times (to no avail). i've even changed the network adapters ipv6 and ipv4 adresses to 208.67.222.222 with the alternate. nothing. there has to be something i'm overlooking but what

My wife primarily uses the VM so I'm not sure exactly when this stopped working, it used to work fine. When running the troubleshooting tool it tells me the Firewall may be preventing the program from running, so I turned the firewall off but that didn't change anything. A second problem the tool indicates is that "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)". I have tried releasing and renewing my ipconfig, also to no avail.
