yesterday I have bought myself a new headset which is well known for its fairly low price combined with a good quality device. I'm talking about the Creative Fatal1ty headset. The reason I bought this headset was because my laptop's built-in mic is from a very crappy quality (the quality of the recorded audio is very poor). So now I have this headset there is one big problem, whenever I record sound or speak through Skype with my family/friends the headset is plugged in (and yes, I have plugged it in the correct headphone jack and microphone jack) into my laptop. But the sound that is being recorded is still being recorded by the built-in microphone and not by the microphone that is attached to my headset. How do I disable the built-in mic?
I recently installed Windows 7 (build 7100), and now am unable to get the mic to work on my headset (Creative Fatal1ty).
I've changed it to the default, but it's just not picking up any sound. Tried it with skype, ventrilo and the speech recognition software and nothing. I've also checked everything is connected correctly and have pretty much run out of ideas.
I know Creative have released a beta driver for this headset: HSHP_W7DRVBETA_US_1_01_0003.exe
Link: Creative Worldwide Support
However, I'm just wondering if its worth it?
Windows 7 picked up the headset fine and everything has been working "straight out of the box".
I only had to change the name of the device in audio properties to distinguish between speakers and headset. Mic has worked perfectly and sounds fine with no adjustments. (Tested on ventrillo)
The only thing drivers/package seems to offer is changing EQ settings or various "technologies" available which im not interested in.
or is there something else i'm missing which I would need the drivers for?
I recently wiped my laptop clean and reinstalled with windows 7 and the driver for my built-in microphone is not showing up and I can not use my microphone in any program.

I have this carte Creative SB X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion
Since from the site of Creative, it has only driver available for windows 7 x64, so i installed the driver. It works great, then the console can work too, but he can't starting automatically when windows boots. - i have to start the console by my-self and he can't be in tray bar (notification area) either.
Then the second thing is ... the remote doesn't work.
PS: I have used the update tool from Creative and all seem that all driver or soft is updated.
Anybody has a solution to make the remote works again in windows 7 ?
I have a Dell Vostro 1500, running 32-bit Windows 7. It came with Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 a couple months ago, which I think is causing the issues I'm experiencing. According to whoever I'm speaking with, the sound for the microphone built in to my webcam fades in and out and gets really loud randomly. In an attempt to solve this, I bought an external microphone which also does not work. The sound driver is the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, version 6.10.0.5614. When I tried to update it through Windows 7's update driver software it says I have the best version for my system, but I still suspect that this could be what is causing the problem.
I bought a Steelseries Siberia V2 headset (non usb model), and the headphones work fine, but the mic doesn't seem to respond to any applications at all.I have updated my audio drivers and tried different audio jacks on my PC but nothing will solve this problem.I have gone into recording devices in Windows and ticked "listen to this device" and I can hear myself speaking through the headset, but when I try and use it on Skype or Steam chat it is non responsive. The volume bar next to the microphone in recording devices doesn't go up when I speak even though I can hear myself speaking.
I just bought the Turtle Beach Z2 gaming headset and I've gone through numerous different processes of trying to get the microphone to actually work and can't seem to get it. The sound out of the headphones work fine but my computer isn't recognizing the sounds from the headset. I have IDT audio on my inspiron 15r if that helps at all. Lastly, the computer has a built in audio input which it recognizes fine.
I recently buy a headset with microphone with the Pink/Green jacks The earset part of them works fine, but the mic part doesn't at all.The system doesn't even pick up that a mic is plugged in. I have tried both the front and back jacks of my PC with the same issues. Under the Recording Tab in Sound it reads, NO audio devices are instaled, and I have the Show disabled devices checked. My biggest issue is I use gtalk and can't talk on it with this issue.
I followed this step>>>>
1. Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices".
2. Right click on the blank place in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
3. Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
4. Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
5. Click Apply.
6. Select Microphone and click on Properties.
7. Click on Levels tab. The default Microphone Boost is set to 0,increase it.but after Right click on the blank place in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".I do not find any Microphone.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-13P and I cannot get my built in microphone to work. I know next to nothing about computers so I've been googling and messing around with settings to try and get it to work, I've even uninstalled and re-installed the sound and webcam drivers, but nothing is going on. Basically, I'm trying to use Skype and I can see and hear them, they can see me, they just cannot hear me. I've tried the tests and stuff on the computer seperate from Skype, but it's still not working. Also, I don't know if it helps at all but the microphone is Realtek HD Audio?
I HAVE HCLME LAPTOP WITH WINDOW 7 BUILTIN MICROPHONE SHOWS NOT PLUGGED INMY SPEAKERS RUNS PERFECTLY ASWELL AS MY WEBCAM.MY AUDIO DRIVER REALTECH AUDIO. I GONE CONTROL PANEL THEN IN SOUND GONE TO RECODING TAB BUT THERE MICROPHONE is GREY DOES NOT HIGHLIGHT ANYTHING ONE RED ARROW SHOW NOT PLUGGED IN it is enable also i have installed lastest sound drivers also
I have a Windows 7 64bit Dell Studio 1535. Recently, the microphone does not work. I'm not sure what to do since I can't "see" the device in device manager and I've downloaded a large number of drivers (anything audio related) but that does not seem to have fixed the issue. All I know is that I have an "array" microphone but besides that, not so much. Am I missing drivers? Are the webcam and mic drivers the same?
I have a Toshiba Satellite a300 and it was originally with Win Vista.A month ago I installed 32-bit Win 7 and the only thing that doesn't work is the mic! As you can see on the picture: http://tinypic.com/r/ie1jxi/6 there are 2 mics and the one that is the default is the headset one, which I am forced to use. The other one is "currently unavailable" and I think this is the built-in one! It sounds really stupid that the built-in mic is unavailable (it shows it even if the headset mic is unplugged.)
The built-in Microphone for my HP G60 Laptop is not detecting audio. I can run an external mic without problems so I don't understand why I can't run the built in mic as well. I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with a Conexant Pebble HD Smart Audio sound card.I've updated the drivers from HP's website and I have played with most of the settings, still nothing, not even static.
my lap tob has a built in microphone and speakers some thing happened i do not know it which muted or cancelled the micro phone however the voices of music can be opened. on chating i cannot hear wheather my voice in the microphone or even the ithers voice
i want to capture audio input from Internet. i cannot do so without also capturing ambient sound in the room, because the built-in mic captures and records the ambient sounds. if i disable the built-in mic, the audio capture software doesn't work. is it possible to mute the internal mic without disabling the sound card entirely?
We have this headset. In the sound menu, it says not connected, while I did put it in the computer? (And I didn't put them the wrong way around, and have checked all my drivers.)
I have Macbook pro and useing windows 7.I have bluetooth stereo headset model SX-910A when i do all the All steps for adding the device and I can add it but when i go the sound-playback it shown that the headset is not plugged in also I dont have option of default device to set to bluetooth stereo audio
I have a Toshiba Portege R835 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I am using a Medialink BT Adapter 3.0+HS Class 2 specs. I am able to pair with my Nokia C3 00 mobile but my BH 503 headset cannot even be detected by my laptop. what drivers need to be downloaded for my BH 503 to be detected.
I have inbuilt bluetooth in my laptop (running Windows 7 ultimate) with HP/widcomm drivers installed. I have Sony HBH-DS980 A2DP capable stereo bluetooth headset. I want to use it with my laptop as stereo headphones (listening music) + internet telephony headset (voice chats, skype etc). First of all it was pain to connect the this headphones with laptop. It took me many many many tries to pair this correctly. Now that its connected, I cant get it to make a connection between laptop and headphones. I tried pressing the button on headphone to initiate a connection, and also tried to make connection by pressing the connect button in headset's bluetooth control window with no results. However it does connect once in a while (I would say less than 10% of the times). The same setup used to work fine when I had vista. What is wrong with Windows 7?
