Windows 7 - No Boot After Deleting DR0 With TDSSKILLER
Aug 21, 2012Anyway, I'll get straight to the meat. I have in my possession a Gateway laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. The person who owns this laptop ran TDSSKILLER, and deleted the TDL file system it detected (DR0). Now, naturally, it will not boot into Windows. To be more specific about the OS, it is Windows 7 Home Premium OA Acer Group. I do not have the original OS media. What can I do to get the system back up and running?

Ive decided i want to get Vista off this PC.
Can i just format the vista partition and add it to the Windows 7 partition?
Seeing as Vista is the original OS i was afraid i might loose valuable info,im not too worried about applications or documents,i mean drivers etc.

Is there anyway i can put Vista on a CD incase i ever want it back?
I have made a recovery disc,can i boot from this?

Sep 29, 2011i had multiple systems (3) on my computer but mainly 1 i use everyday, so i formated the two partitions with the systems i dont need after a reeboot (like i ecpected) i had a bootmbr missing error. So i went and tryed using the repair function of the dvd but that dident work. So i installed a complete new system on one of the new partitions (i left the old one allown), after i installed the new system i booted up and installed easy bcd and added my old partition to my boot manager, but after i boot up I can see the boot menu and select the old system i want to start up from but it brings an error and tells me to enter the dvd and repair the system. I am so lost on this. why istent it just taking the files and booting? what did i do wrong

May 7, 2012I am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual.It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.

Jun 20, 2011When I first set it up, I said yes to IE's, "Do you want IE to remember this info....." Now that user id is no longer used, and it is a real pain because it starts with the same letter as a currently used ID, and when that letter is typed in, the old one pops into the sign in box. Then of course, I have to type in the rest of the ID until the correct ID is recognized. I've tried to uand it says I need to go to User Accounts. I can't even figure out how to do that

Apr 13, 2011In error from a brand new hard drive (and build), I installed the 32-bit version of windows 7 onto my SSD. Upon the product key screen was when I noticed the issue. I input my product key, got windows loaded and then booted from the 64-bit CD instead.Here I chose the custom install feature and went to overwrite my old partition from the 32-bit version but it would not let me. I tried deleting it as well and I could not. I've since loaded 64-bit windows but I do notice that approximately 8Gb is down on my SSD.So at this point, I think I may have 2 options but I'm not sure how to go about either:1) Format the SSD completely so it is in a state like it came out of the box.2) Delete the old partition and gain 8Gb of space on the SSD while using 64-bit windows.

Aug 20, 2011I recently had major problems accessing the internet and some other problems, so I reinstalled Win 7 Home Premium. I had problems reinstalling anmd had to do it a couple of times. I now find in explorer that I have Windows.old, windows.old000 and windows old.001. They do not shown in uninstall. They are taking up a lot of space and when I try to delete them I get messages saying that I need system permission to delete some files, so the folders will not delete. How do I get rid of them.I originally wanted to reformat the hard drive (after backing up everything I wanted on an external HDD) but at teh command prompt I was told thatI did not have sufficient privileges.Can anyone tell me how I can get the privileges to reformat the HDD.I have also found now that my internet connection is running so sloww as to be useless. It is down loading at about 600 BYTES per sec.

I have a problem now, I don't know how to delete a network on Windows 7. If someone could help me as google was of no help to remove a single network (as there are important ones, mostly because of the college).
I'm using Windows 7 Pro x64 and when I try to remove the network, I firstly don't know where to go to find it, and when I thought I had found a way to remove it and tried it in the "Merge or delete network locations" link on the "set Network Preperties" Window, it didn't work.
Deleting OS Without Formatting?
Jan 26, 2012Okay, I want to do a fresh install of Windows 7 onto an SSD, then use my HDD which currently has Windows 7 on it for extra storage. However, I don't want to be prompted about which drive to boot from, nor do I want useless OS files on my spare drive.I don't have another drive to backup files to, so backing up then formatting isn't an option. What can I do to delete the OS files entirely and structure the drive like you would a typical backup drive?

This needed to be done as the virus that got that computer was next to impossible to get off. After re-installing (twice to make sure) there are still files from the original install over Vista. The windows.old and windows.old.000 files are both referring to Win7. What I would like to do is this: Uninstall everything from Win7, taking me back to Vista, doing a recovery (alt-f12) so I have clean Vista then install Win7.

Today, I took out an old DVD disk that had files written on it previously by NERO in XP, and added files to it. That was OK. But then, I need to replace one of the files, so I went and delete it, but I can find anyway to delete the file, now can I add any more files to the DVD it seems.
I went back to XP and use NERO on the same disk, deleted the file, replace it with new one, and all are fine.

Nov 15, 2011I recently got a program install package (ThumbsPlus, so reputable.) that will NOT install. Cerious support, BTW, is tragic, but at one point in this ongoing saga they suggested getting the MS Install CLeanup utility - ran that, and the original install error was then replaced with one about a registry key it apparently needs to open but can't. I located the offending key from the error message, but it can't be deleted (or opened). I have tried everything - given myself full permissions, added a new Admin account using the elevated command prompt and so on, as per another thread. I couldn't follow the MS information referred to in that thread.

Jan 12, 2013when I update a driver or go through the Windows Update, what happens to the old Driver? Can I delete/uninstall the old Drivers once I update to the current drivers?
Essentially, am I losing Hard Drive space after each update? Since as I update, I install which overlaps the older Drivers, so the size just keeps getting bigger and bigger after each update?

When I try to delete them the message is, "You require permission from "TrustedInstaller" to make changes to this file". "Unlocker" can delete these files but only one at a time. Windows 7 Keeps Deleting My Files
Jul 2, 2010My windows keeps deleting files with an .lz extension right after they are downloaded to there . It deletes them for ABSOLUTELY no reason . The antivirus doesn't scream , nor the folder and files are in C: or in a system folder. The folder is mine and those files are needed for a game , so every time i start the game it downloads them again and again. I Observe how they comeup in the directory , and right after they are downloaded , windows deletes them (they dissapear).

May 15, 2011I am helping my girlfriend installing Windows 7 on her Lapptop. What i/ we wanted to do is remove 'everything' from the laptop( os, programms, data ) and install the new OS.
I managed to install Windows 7 but was under the impression that it would delet all other data by doing so. Now we have a C: drive with all the sensetive data ( program files etc ), and a E: drive which has all the old data( not programms ) from before the new OS installation.
We have allready made backup of the data we need. I want to remove 'everything' from the E: so that all the space will be available. How can i do this? Can i just Ctrl+A and delete eveything or is there some other way to clear out the disc?
Deleting Win 7 Beta Partition
May 7, 2009I am currently running XP as my main OS on one partition but I also have Windows 7 Beta on a separate partition on the same hard drive. Right now I cannot currently access Windows 7 when booting up, I have no clue why that is as I used to be able to do that.
What I want to do is delete the partition Windows 7 Beta is on and install Windows 7 RC as my main OS. I have tried booting to a disc with GParted on it to delete the partition but it will not boot to the cd, I know my BIOS is in the right order as I can easily boot to the Windows 7 RC dvd I have made. When I try to use something like EASEUS Partition Master or the Disk Management on XP, the delete option is greyed out when I right click on the Windows 7 Beta partition. I cannot figure out how to do delete it so I can extend my XP partition to the full space on the hard drive and then install the Windows 7 RC.
