View 9 RepliesThis all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.
Before
After
My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
Windows 7 64-bit I can adjust the display so it's large enough to read everything but the text. For instance, now have it set at 150% of normal and the title of this post is large but what I'm typing now is so small it's barely readable. MUCH smaller than 10-point.There is a way to customize the display, but anything more than 150% is so large it overflows my wide-screen monitor. Surely there must be a choice between way too large and way too small, but I can't find it.A message on my screen now says to run TSG Sysinfo Last time I downloaded something similar, here, I ended up with a $40 Uniblue program on my computer that I had to fight like crazy to stop invading my world. I never got my money back, either.

On Windows Vista I had made my taskbar thinner to be about the same size as the taskbar in Windows 98 etc.I cannot remember how I did it, but I was just wondering if it is possible to do the same in windows 7?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Gateway laptop. Installed Windows 7 home premium 32-bit that came with it. Once in a while, after I close the lid, my desktop icons will change size, sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger. It's really annoying because when it's really big, the icons move around. I'll have to change them back to the size I want and move them back to the place they were. I've updated everything i.e. windows update, hardware drivers etc. I've disabled desktop gadgets but it still does it.

They are just TOO SMALL to see, and they make the image look like 16x16 images, is there anyway to make them SLIGHTLY bigger? Maybe a regedit hack of sorts?
How do I change the size of the font for my viewing and composing emails? I cannot tools/preferences to change these settings.

View 6 Replies View RelatedLaptop running Win 7 Pro'm a bit unsure of how the hard drive is divided, and what each partition is doing. When Win Explorer open, it shows C drive (67Gb) and D drive (66.9Gb). However, on expanding the drives, ie in the left hand panes, D drive says 'empty'Having now downloaded Easus Partition Manager, it shows what apparently looks like 4 partitions, and I assume one of them is the Recovery (15Gb, of which 7Gb is used). When adding up the Gb showing in EPM it suggests a 250Gb drive but I have seemingly only got 66Gb accessible.I'd like to re-organise the drive/partitions, so that I have increased storage for general use, and the Recovery partition.

what it is is when i change the 128 x 128 picture's size to 64 x 64 and set it as user account picture and see the log on screen, it doesn't actually shrink. instead what i am getting is a blurry version still with the size of 128 x 128.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor months now I've been fighting that my hardware cursor disappears in World of Warcraft on my home theater system and time I switch modes to full screen and sometimes even in windowed mode and the reason for this is apparently due to me setting my display text size to 150% or 125%. I did find via some searching WoW customer service forums that if I set it back to 100% (default) OR 149% customized, my hardware cursor works again. I'm going to leave it at 149% because I really do need the larger text size on my HDTV and using 149%, I don't have to change back to normal, log out, log in, then start my game.

View 10 Replies View RelatedStarted with a 500 gig hard drive, was able to shrink it to half. My goal is a partition size of 100 gb. The entire contents of drive is less than 50 gb. I did away with the page file so as not to cause a problem as a none move able file. No hyber.sys file either. So right now the size of the partition is about 238 gb, but when I try to shrink it further it tells me that it can only be shrank by 7 more megs.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a MSI K9N Platinum mainboard with 2-Gig of ram (chosen so that I can over-clock the board if I choose). I have the NVIDIA 570 Chipset with an AM2 AMD Athlon(tm) processor. I had it set up with a 128-Gig partition that I set up when I had Vista Professional (64-bit) installed. A year ago or so I upgraded to Windows 7 Home which worked out much better (even if the mainboard was pre-Windows 7). I installed a PNY Nvidia 210 video board (but am having some trouble getting the driver to work with Windows 7).
My main harddrive is a Maxtor 500-Gig ATA drive that is partitioned with 128-Gig for the C: drive which was the maximum I could use at the time with Vista Pro. I also have a 1TB SATA drive installed for data storage and another 1TB Seagate USB drive for media storage. There is also another 1TB backup drive (Maxtor) connected to my Fios Router.I am having problems with the 500-Gig ATA C: drive - bad sectors or corrupted data. I've isolated most of the data but can't remove it. I need to keep the computer up and working and have wasted enough time with the bad drive.
I want to use the SATA drive installed on the MSI mainboard. Can you tell me what the largest partition size I can have to install Windows 7 Home (assuming I can remove it from my main hard drive on this machine before or after to allow a new installation). I use the primary drive mostly for program installation although Windows 7 generally places all of the libraries on the same drive as a default. If it won't slow me down, I would like to use as much of the 1TB SATA drive as possible. Is there a maximum partition size that I need if I convert the SATA drive to replace the C: drive or boot drive?
I just did a clean install of windows 7 and now I have a problem with file associations. AVI files for instance are set to open with WMP but I want them to open with BSplayer. If I click "open with" I have the recommended options MWP and WMC but Bsplayer isn't there nor under "other programs". If I browse to bsplayer and click it nothing happens. It wont change anything.
Now with .srt files for example. They are no set to open with any program, and I dont even have an "open with" option. If I go to properties and try to change the file association I have notepad on the recommended programs but if I select it no thing happens. Is there a way to completely reset the file associations or to fiz this issue. I went to the menu were you are supposed to be able to set associations with all your programs but my installed programs like utorrent bsplayer and that stuff don't even appear there.
I am trying to find the registry key that will change the desktop icon size to small.
This is mainly for new users, or for the default user. I have workstations that have several people sharing them and need this for everyone.
I have looked in these locations: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellBags1DesktopIconSize And HKey_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowMetricsShell Icon Size I played with both these settings for myself, and the desktop icons do not change. If I reboot, the first key value goes back to 32, and the second key stays at 96. But my icons never change in size. I am looking for any way to do this in the registry. I could try copying the ntuser.dat but fear I will still have issues with paths, and other defaults that will cause the same problem I had originally.
I have various educational CDs that work on the older 32bit Windows OS, from Win95 - Win2000.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been running build 7260 for awhile on my Asus notebook (see system spec) and so far have not had too many issues with it. Since I have done several succesive upgrades: Vista Business > Windows 7 build 7227 > Windows 7 build 7260 I have noticed some bugs creeping in (apps and games are crashing periodically or not loading correctly, gaming performance could be better). I attribute this to the string of successive upgrades.
I am going to wipe the drive and do a clean install of either the 32 or 64 bit RTM build in the next few days as it becomes available. One of the main goals is to increase performance with both applications and games. I use this laptop for work doing web development and heavy photoshop and graphics intensive work. I typically have many applications open at once using quite allot of system resources.
For this project I am going to:
A: Add another 2gb of ram to bring the total from 3gb to 4gb, or
B: Add a fast 16gb sd card to the system for the ReadyBoost feature, probably using around 6 to 9gb for this feature
For me to add the extra gig of ram it becomes more necessary to install the 64 bit build. If I use the 16gb sd card for ReadBoost, I can probably stick with 32 bit. None of my apps are currently 64 bit anyhow so I am not sure 64bit is the way to go right now.
I would like to hear people's thoughts on this and what others experiences have been especially using ReadyBoost on systems with over 2gb of memory..
Is it possible to transform your 64bit into a 32bit I've heard of a thing called "Dual-Booting" is that possible, if so how can I do that?
