View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm having some trouble with my screen resolution . i set it at (800x600) cause i'm using a 51 inch big screen hd tv. it go's full screen but then for no reason it puts the bars back on the sides of the screen. i checked and it still reads (800x600) and i can't get it to change back to full screen until i reboot. works fine in vista . i'm not seeing anything about drivers failing so i'm not sure what's happening.

(It worked normal in safe mode) I normally would just ignore this problem and it seemed to go back to normal after a little while. Well yesterday it didn't go away, so i went online looking for a solution, in safe mode. I've read to disable/enable drivers, re-install drivers, just plenty of things. And the result of all this is that my screen resolution wont go back to normal, and there is a black border around my screen, around a half inch. Also, my computer has been running EXTREME slow lately.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a dual Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7 Home Basic booting system on my laptop (VAIO, specs at the end). Each time I switch on my laptop, Ubuntu's GRUB first shows me the options as to which OS to boot from. The choices include Ubuntu and Windows 7. To install Ubuntu,I made a 25 GB unallocated volume on my hard disk. Recently, while updating Ubuntu to its latest version, my internet crashed and the download only partly succeeded. After that, I have never been able to use Ubuntu on my laptop. However, GRUB is still functioning; each time I switch on, I still see the options as to which OS to boot from. If I choose Windows 7, then I get the usual Windows 7 Booting screen.Basically, I now have 25GB of space lying unusable on my machine. I want to merge this with one of my other partitions. However, I fear that doing so would delete GRUB and make my laptop impossible to boot. What steps should I take? Is there any way whereby I can safely delete Ubuntu and change the boot sequence from GRUB to the Windows boot program? (I guess it is BOOTMGR.EXE)

WIndows 7 premium home version on a lenovo laptop freezing at splash screen. I can boot into safe mode just fine. Whereby I have to run a system restore back to an older date but the issue still comes back up and this seems to be especially true when trying to wake it from sleep mode.
