I am having issues with a few programs, namely Google Chrome, IE 9, and Windows Media Player, that just plain refuse to run. Every time I try to open any of them, I get the "a problem has caused the program to stop working correctly" message, so I have to hit the "close" link. I have tried fixing this issue with iolo's System Mechanic, but it doesn't work. I always keep all my programs as well as my OS updated, so I don't think that's the issue, and I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Chrome and IE, but to no avail. All other programs work just fine.
Specs:

-Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Programs I usually have running:
-Comodo Internet Security
-Zemana Antilogger Free
-ExploitShield
-Secunia PSI
I installed Ashapmoo Office Trial Version. I unstalled it but when i right click on my desktop and move my pointer to "New" I get this goddamed Ashampoo Planmaker and Textmaker along with other usual items
Some drivers are not signed and Window 7 will refuse to load them. What to do? Turn on test signing which allows Windows 7 to load unsigned drivers. To enable this you have to open a command prompt as administrator and type the following command: Code: C:>bcdedit -SET TESTSIGN NO
i am trying to install the ati drivers in windows 7 x32, but they refuse to do so. the hardware manager does not even show a display / graphics adapter
i have a ati 4870 based card, i tried the vista + beta windwds 7 drivers neither worked
I recently downloaded a notification sent to my email box by one of these courier companies notifying me of a mail sent to my home address. Little did I know dat it's a virus(an exe file). on running it , It took over my laptop. I was able to control it to an extent but some of my system files has been erased.my laptop refuse to install new updates.
I have windows 7. I'm getting odd behaviour from my machine. I can only type in search boxes intermittently, other times when I press a letter the shortcut droplist comes on---"F" is find and so on. Only light on my keyboard is Num Lock, so I don't think it's a keyboard issue. When I left click shortcut to open IE(or any program), I get the, "do you want this program to make changes..." message, or I get the shortcut properties box, and if I move a shortcut, it makes a copy---"Computer 2."
It is a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge with a 500 gigabyte hard drive, 4 gigs of RAM, an Intel i5 processor, and an Intel Graphics Family video card that was bought from the company's online store. A few days ago I took the laptop out and started up as usual. Once logged in and at my desktop the computer refused to run any programs or even open the start menu for 15 minutes. After things begin to respond the computer runs fine but this worries me. It still continues to do this daily. Today a message appeared at the bottom right corner of the screen saying " Windows 7 Not Genuine Error 7601" I believe. The reason I cannot be more clear on that is because that went away. Since then, I, in a total panic, did several internet searches on the problems but was only directed to either one, but never both. I would like avoid contacting a technician so I came here.
I'm having some weird problem - probably caused by a virus or something. Anyway, I have scanned my computer, with 2 different Anti-Trojan applications, both found many infected items and removed it. Now everything seems to be cleaned. Thing is, while trying to load google or bing - both sites wont load - it just hangs. I tried from 3 various browsers. When I put both sites IP addresses in the host file - it works! How can I get rid of this hassle?
As it stands right now, my Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Card will not allow me to plug in my headphones via the front panel of my desktop. (This makes sense, as the onboard audio solution was disabled upon installation of the card.)Thinking that this would only be a minor setback, I purchased a simple Y audio cable that enabled me to plug in both the speakers and the headphones at the same time.Unfortunately, this does *not* work as well as I intended. (It merely reduces the output of each, while simultaneous emitting sound. Nothing is muted.) Furthermore, it seems I can not get my card to actually *detect* the headphones.
When I type in Word 2010, frequently my keyboard will refuse to type. It will type a couple letters and then I have to wait to get it to go on. Then it will type a few more, etc. Another time it will type without an issue.I have changed the battery.
A few days ago I installed a USB 3.0 card (to be precise, this one: 2-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCI-E Controller Card - Free Shipping - DealExtreme). It uses the very common NEC PD720200 USB 3.0 controller. I installed the required drivers for Windows 7, and the card worked fine for the first day or so. but not since. Whenever I plug in a USB 3.0 external hard drive, I get a false "This device can perform faster..." message, as if I had plugged the drive in a USB 2.0 port.
The external drive I am using is a Western Digital MyBook Essential 1130. It is definitely a USB 3.0 drive, and came with the required USB 3.0 cable. While the USB 3.0 card was working, I got full-speed transfers to the limit of the hard drive's ability, about 90-100 MB/s. Now I can only get USB 2.0 speeds (33-34 MB/s). Windows insists I have the drive plugged into a USB 2.0 port even though it is plugged directly into the USB 3.0 card.
Things I tried so far: -rebooting and complete power cycle. No difference. -plugging the drive into one port or the other. Also no difference. -Looked in Device manager. The controller is recognized as a USB 3.0 device is using the proper NEC drivers.
Other info that may be important:
-No overclocking settings in use.
-I made sure the cable was plugged in all the way. It's in as far as it can go, but the ports will still only act like USB 2.0 ports.
I might as well throw the card away if it is only going to act as a USB 2.0 device.
So over the past few days it seems that I have lost control of my C drive and all of its contents.I can no longer properly access it, and everything opens in "Read-Only". I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.
Today I decided to install some stuff on my computer as it was out of date..I installed Java, Flash player and adobe reader X but when I go to add/remove they are not showing up in that section?
Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.
I have just bought a new acer aspier 5750z-4830 intel core b940 processor 4gb ddr3 memory 500 gb hdd 3 days ago and I am unable to install any new programs.I have tried to download meny sotwer not at the same time but the results are horrable.google chrome: 7 hours and never downloads. yahoo mesenger: connection is always lost and retrys never work. when i click cancle it says that it maybe my firewall but even when i allow the progrom through it won't work. so i turned if off for a little while still nothing. java: my laptop dose not come with java so i tried instlling it...121 hours to install this is rediclious. The download speed may not be so good right now beacuse we where hit by a storm 3 days ago however i have to ability to downlod but not the ability to install which i think is a bit weird
This fault is occur a after using Iobit Uninstaller. I closed this program before uninstrallation process of selected programs completed. After this only 5 programs are showing. I restore syatem by Iobit Uninstaller. but no any change.I checked registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall). There is only 5 keys. I downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player which is needed to view a file (.swf), and it appears in the control panel as an installed program. However, it does not appear as a default program when I am trying to use the "associate a file type or protocal with a specific program" even when I press the browse list. The program also does not appear when I "right click" the file itself and use the open command. The program also does not appear in the list of programs on the "All Progams: list when clicking the windows icon. So, can someone tell me how to get programs onto the default list....(Please, I have seen a number of threads that talk about how to "set" the default program which I am well aware of...I need to know how to get a program to be recognized and incoroporated as part of the list).
first when I try to open microsoft office starter 2010 a box appears...click to run configuration error....so I went to programs and features to repair it and many of my installed and pre-downloaded programs aren't listed.. they are in the start menu and they work but they're just gone. Microsoft office and all related programs and features are among them....I had about 60 or 70 items before and now 23...I've tried system restore and nothing...
I'm having trouble running most program, specifically the ones I use the most. I can't run google chrome, or world of warcraft, as well as any other programs I typically use throughout the day. Aside from google chrome, everything else runs in safe mode. System restore was unable to fix my problem. This just started happening today. I had problems with my internet so I reset my computer to power cycle my router and upon restarting the problem occured.I've run Avira, IObit 360, and Malewarebytes, all of which were unable to find any problems. I also managed to get one of my regedit programs to run and only came up with the typical fixes(shortcuts, etc). I can't run msinfo32, or the task manager by right clicking the bottom bar. Interestingly enough I can ctrl+alt+delete and get the task manager. All the programs I try and run, show up as tasks.
My computer is infected so I tried to follow the steps on this website for removing spyware, malware, etc. however i am unable to run any executable programs. For example i have tried to run spybot, defogger, dds and everytime I hit Run, nothing happens and then I get a warning that says "Application cannot be executed. The file XXXXX.exe is infected. Please activate your antivirus software."
Also, every 20-30 minutes my computer automatically restarts. Before it restarts thought it goes to a blue screen. On this blue screen it says "The problem seems to be caused by the following file NTFS.SYS. It also says alot more but that is the one thing that stood out to me.
Well, All Programs seems to once again have gone blank. This has happened to me before but it was usually solved by either moving the Programs folder to the Desktop and back or setting it to Hidden but now it seems that neither of these solutions are working. Anyone got any ideas?
My Start menu - "programs" has lost all entries but when I open the folder by right click-properties then there is lots of entries in the folder C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart Menuprograms what can I do?
i just got windows 7 professional. i did the clean installation. unfortunately i didnt save everything i had before i did it. my question is where did my microsoft office and microsoft word programs go???? when it loaded i only had the recycle bin on my desktop. i thought it would automatically include microsoft office, microsoft word...etc. can someone please tell me how i can get those programs back? is there a website i got to download them again from?
The other day I was "caught" by my girlfriend and asked to D/L some legal music files for her. I am pretty familiar with the WAV, MP3 and normal file formats, but I saw MP4. That was new to me. I googled it and found it is an improved MP3. My question is, that my programs don't have MP4. If I use MP3, will they still read MP4?
It was fine last week, but when I came back a few days ago, I noticed that some of my programs won't work.First I noticed that Rainmeter says that it can't find any skins, even though I do have skins and they should work fine. After that I noticed that Guitar Pro won't open tabs and throws an error message. The sounds won't work in GP either. And then I noticed that Minecraft won't launch. So I did a virus scan. Nothing came up. I tried running the programs as an admin, different compatibility and with my virus protection off.I've tried reinstalling the programs too, but no dice. Then I decided to get a new anti-virus program. Once I downloaded it and double clicked the setup.exe, it threw an error. I'm not sure what it is in english, since it's in finnish, but it's something to the sorts of "path can't be found". Just that line of text.Though I did install a game earlier. It did throw some error, which I can't remember now, but it did install.
