Cd/dvd Rom Not Show In Device Manager Or In Computer
Dec 28, 2012
I have a hp pavillon dv-9000 running win 7 pro.......this laptop when give to me was in bad shape.... At one point i had the cd/dvd rom drive working yet in the middle of loading windows files it stoped working.... Knwoing the bios has only the driver for win vista i thought the driver for cd/dvd might not work.. So i droped win 7 on a usb flash drive..... The os is up n running.... So far no real troubles.. Ive had to jump around to find drivers for this..Any ways i still dont have a cd/dvd driver nor any place in the device manager to even update the driver..Gren ligh on cd/dvdrom door..... Oh and i have a replacement cd/dvdrom drive. That when i install i no longer have a green light on door it is red..... Funny thing is it dont show in my computer or device manager yet in the bois it is enable.. Yet dont read in boot list? Humm wait now my head forgot if it reads in boot list or not... Ill check it again to make sure im right... So thinking this over...
Opened up Device Manager to look at settings for the various Com "Ports" in use and just can't see any listed. Here's a snap of what I have.Where do they show, or how can I make them show up?
I installed a new driver for u-lead but it doesn't show in device manager as unknown or usb. Windows 7 shows that it is compatible. The program won't work.
Just reformatted my alienware laptop because I haven't used it in months. Now I don't even see "Network Adapter" listed under device manager so when trying to install the driver i don't think it had any effect. Running m15x windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
I cannot for the life of me get my internet to work.. more specifically it keeps telling me I need to install network drivers.I checked BIOS and LAN settings are all good.I've tried installing a realtek driver update. On my device manager not the network adapter tree does not even show up. I've done 2 full re-installs of windows 7 and no luck.I'm using an ASUS M4A89GTD PRO mobo, running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
First my two DVD burners and blu ray burner were gone in Windows, then most of my hard drive partitions disappeared..BIOS shows the burners OK.Partition Manager shows only C, D and E, and the rest as Unallocated (540Gb).Burners do show up in device manager but with exclamation marks "no driver".
my brother's hdd in his laptop was going bad, it kept failing to boot. so i replaced it with another one. when i turned the laptop back on it started installing all the drivers for his hardware (windows was already installed on the 2nd hdd) and prompted me to reboot. after i did windows failed to start several times. i re-installed windows from scratch, and now his graphics card isn't showing up in device manager and windows cant find a driver for the network or ethernet card.
his specs: gateway windows 7 professional x64 ati mobility radeon hd 4250 broadcom bcm943225hm (network card) amd phenom II x4 n9790 4gb ddr3
Have recently purchased a small usb inspection snake camera with led light and when testing it plugged it into two desktops computers (one xp pro not sure of the other as it was a network work computer) It automatically loaded the drivers and brought up a screen automatically with the realtime image.(no driver disc came with it). However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?
after sp1 troubleshooter says you might have a device problem and it searches for drives but my computer has no issues just windows 7 saying i do and checking for drives all the time freezing system for 1-2 secs
Computer shows generic pnp moniter in device manager im not getting the fps i should in games resolution gives me my zoran tv. i updated my drivers to my best knowledge i believe and i have resolution issues and it wont read a second moniter. i have a Nvidia Geforce 550Ti graphics card, and a AMD fx 6100 6 core processor from cyber pc. i dont know if that helps but. i cant get this resolved.i also have it hooked up with hdmi cable for the tv hook up. for my second monitor VGA cable.
For he past 3 days my Slimtype DVD player was not noticed by my laptop at all. Even worse, my device manager does not recognize the DVD drive even though the drive is in working order (i.e. it can still open and close). This drive has worked well enough for the past five years and has been working properly until I installed some updates from the Windows update center. But I don't which update(s) caused my DVD drive to disappear. So after numerous attempts to fix the problem through Microsoft's Fix It Service (Boo!) I decided to restore my computer to its factory settings (OS: Windows Vista 32-bit) hoping that would restore the functionality of my DVD Drive. Alas, that did not even work! The only remnant of my DVD's functionality with Windows a registry key :
as shown by the following image but nowhere else. I have tried everything to fix this problem from the removing the upper filters and lower filters to reformatting my computer. Is their any other possible problem with my DVD?
I just bought a new ASUS computer with Windows 7. I have a Macbook Pro and would like to transfer my photos and music onto my new computer. I have 2 external hard drives that work perfectly fine on my mac as well as other PCs. When I plug either of my external hard drives in they are recognized in device manager and say they are working properly but are not recognized in disk manager or under my computer...
I have a hp pavilion dv9700 running windows 7 home premium, and the atheros wireless device keeps disapearing out of the device manager and stops working sometimes it works again if i reboot ,i have tried a replacement but the same happens.
How do i figure out what driver or even component windows wants software for when in the device manager under other devices it lists an unknown device and windows update cannot find anything.
Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have not experienced this problem on any other pc running any version of windows 7, oh and the same happened with build 7264 x32 and the current install of build 7600 x64.

I got a new hard drive for my HP Pavilion DV6T-6000. Installed windows 7 ultimate and a bunch of drivers from HP's drivers section for my computer and I still have this unkown device. It wasn't there on my old drive so something isn't right here.

i cant install nvidia drivers " this graphics driver could not find compatible graphic hardware", and i can't see my nvidia card on the device manager, and can't get the hardware ID, it looks like my laptop doesn't have this graphic card installed.
my latop is: ASUS - K52JC
2 graphics card, intel shared, and separated nvidia ( 310m cuda - 1GB )
i tried to follow this procedure, Fix Latest nVidia Mobility Driver to Fit Your Notebook
but couldn't find device ID, because it is not listed on device manager
When I disable the network controller in Device Manager, the controller is disabled but nothing changes in Device Manager to identify the device as being disabled. When I used to do the same thing in Windows XP, the device icon turned yellow. Is there some setting to identify disabled devices in Win 7's Device Manager?
I have a small problem with my Windows 7. Here's what happened:Yesterday, my pc was running fine. I turned it on at 10am and it was running well. My sister ordered a new router so I set it up for her (AirPort Extreme). I installed the utility for it, was a simple setup for me. After that, I connect to it wirelessly and I see that windows update has a few security updates. They install as I turn off the pc. I then turn it back on a few hrs later and notice that when it reaches the login screen, it takes a few secs for it to load. This is unusual being that the days before it was always ready to receive input. So I login, get the welcome screen, and my desktop screen. Taskbar loads as usual, however I can't get anything to show up when I click on it. I think at first that its Comodo (is in training mode) so I close it out. Still nothing. I then press ctrl+alt+delete. Nothing. I then press it rapidly to see what happens. After a few mins, my screen turns black. A message then shows up that ctrl+alt+delete has been pressed but due to something that it won't show up. Had to press either the power button or esc to leave the screen. Safe mode works. I do a system restore back to when the windows update and to the installation of the router. I scanned and haven't found anything yet. Today, my pc looks like its running fine but its still taking a few secs on the login screen and the desktop still idles. I'm going to contact HP to see what they can do but I wanted a second opinion.
Here's my specs (looks like this):
HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad Edition Windows 7 Home Premuim 64-bit Intel core i7-3820QM CPU @ 2.70GHz 8GB RAM 1TB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
I installed Windows Vista using my computers recovery disk. Everything was working fine until I updated windows. After the last restart (after the updates) I notice that I am getthing this icon on the bottom right:And if I try to open the Volume controls it opens this window:I removed Windows Vista and now Im using Windows 7 (and thats why I came to this forum) in the hopes that it would fix the issue but it didnt. On Device manager I have no Sound devices:
my Internet explorer 7 has been totally deleted and I think this is most of my problem with my other programs. My device manager wont work at all, the error msg says that it will not work on any Internet exp. earlier than 5.5. So I need to reinstall IE7? How do I do that (free) And my windows help wont work either.

I have an acer aspire 5610z and i know it is not compatable with windows 7 according to acer but everything works apart from the audio!when i go onto device manager there is no audio tab but when i go to system> there is a "high definition audio controller" which i have been trying to install the audio drivers to because the usual audio device is not there in device manager.I have done a fresh install and updated the majority of the drivers but i cannot find the audio one anywhere ive tried downloading the vista one and running it in compatibility mode and it is a realtek one that is reccomended.

I have my Dell N4010 Inspiron 14R laptop/notebook with the OS of windows 7 32bit Ultimate.
My bluetooth was previously working fine with the driver Dell wireless 365 Bluetooth Driver 6.2.1.100 A00 win 32/64bit R273580. I notice that this past days when i connect my N6120c phone via bluetooth, my laptop didn't have any reaction, when i see my system tray no bluetooth icon was presented, previously there it is. So i manually run the bluetooth through BTTray.exe from CProgram FilesWIDCOMMBluetooth Software, but my laptop didn't react to it. So i look at the device manager and there was no trace of bluetooth, previously there was a Peripheral Bluetooth. So i manually re-install the driver and then its stuck on this page, Activate Bluetooth using Wireless Switch, on the lower right it say Cancel Installation.

Looking at Device Manager, I have the following two items with that yellow "!" mark. Might any tell me how significant these are, and what they exactly pertain to ? How do I correct ? Should I bother ?
