View 2 RepliesUpgraded desktop to 64-bit and discovered that my Canon LiDe80 and Canon PIXMA iP4000 drivers are incompatible. So after some research and not sure how accurate, I read that the professional version would allow more of the 32-bit drivers to work.
Is that correct?
Canon Pixma IP4200, anyone have this driver for Windows 7 64 bit? i couldn't find it for the love of God. only found that utility stuff on their site.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBack in the fall when I switched over to Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from Vista Home Premium SP2 x64, I installed the software for my Canon Pixma MX700 multifunctional printer. I used the original Vista driver installer disc, and despite an warning message about a "known compatibility issue" the printer and scanning functions worked fine. I use the Pixma on the LAN via a wired ethernet connection. Worked fine for occasional scanning in November, December, and January. Then for months I had no need to scan anything, just printing over the network with no problems.Last weekend I needed to scan something. I usually just push the scan button on the printer, verify the computer it's going to scan to (it lists them), and away it goes. This time my computer threw an error about the scanner driver saying the scanner wasn't on the network. Huh? If the scanner's not on the network how did the computer know it was trying to send a scan... So I bailed on that and instead used the MP Navigator EX software on the computer. It failed too, giving the "scanner not connected" error, either using Navigator's direct interface or telling it to open the scanner driver which brings up a slightly different interface (when it worked).First I went to the Canon site and d/l'ed all the latest drivers for 7 x64 and installed them. Still get the same errors. Tried setting it up to scan via USB temporary connection. If I install it that way it works, but it's not a long term solution. And it stops working after a reboot. The odd thing is the scanner works over the LAN after I set it up for USB (when using NAvigator, because the scan to lan button on the printer doesn't work of course), again until reboot.

I just wanted to relate my vexing problem and the ultimate solution which I dscovered after half a day, and it's something that Microsoft will probably never admit happens.I installed Windows 7 64 bit OS on my Toshiba Satellite, and could not get my Pixma iP3000 installed. I first tried the disc that came with, but I got messages to the effect that this will not work with my current sysytem. I looked all over the world at Canon download sites and could fine everything BUT the Windows 7 64 bit driver.Everywhere else I got the same tip: Just plug in your printer fresh into a recently re-started computer, and the system should recognize it and install the driver. Well, it attempted to do this the first time, but it notified me that it did not have the driver!Following another tip, I prompted Windows update to have a go. Surprise, it discovered some new updates to install. Lo and Behold, one of them was a Pixma iP3000 driver update! but DAMN, that one update failed to install, and after failing a retry it just would NOT attempt it again. The message was something to the effect of, "We decided you don't need that."The solution: I started from scratch. I re-installed Windows 7 64 bit after deleting the partition. I ran the first run of Windows update. Before installing anything else, I turned on and connected my printer. Again, it said, "Yes, we see this is a Pixma iP3000, but we don't have the driver." Then, keeping the device connected, I did Windows Update again, and several updates, including the Pixma iP3000 driver update, appeared. It installed correctly this time.
I have Windows 7 (7000) installed. Everything working except Windows 7 did not recognize my Canon Pixma iP8500 printer. OK under Vista. I manually selected a driver for Canon Pixma Pro 9500 and then re-configured the printer as an 8500 via the "advanced" tab in printer properties. Printing seems to be OK, but the Canon status monitor application can't seem to talk to the printer over the USB interface. Any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a MG5450 2 days ago and began setting it up yesterday however stumbled across an issue where the printer driver would not install regardless of the compatibility setting. Being as it's a newly released printer I thought the drivers would be up to date and new, however I think there may be a issue with NT 4.0 driver policy as when I try to install the drivers through the device manager, it gives me that message that there's a policy in place stopping me.
Windows update always fails when trying to install the printer, however the scanner, and software included all work fine. I can scan images on wirelessly and have them saved on my computer without an issue, however there is no way to print. I have tried disabling the policing through the 'MSC' and adding a local group policy or something along those lines. However none of this has worked. How can I get the driver to install or disable the policy to allow the printer to be installed. Tried installation of the drivers both through wireless and wired, both come to the same outcome.

View 3 Replies View RelatedVista x64 natively supported a bunch of canon printers with x64 drivers. For some printers this support has gone under Windows 7 x64. Perhaps this will help some people ... .
I mounted a Vista x64 ISO-image/source, extracted the folder with the canon printer drivers and installed the Colorpass Z40e driver under Windows 7 x64. In my case I used this driver für a Canon Colorpass Z400e (Canon CLC 1100).
Extraxct :
- use 7zip
- under options check "wim"
- open the install.wim an verify your vista version (important if there is a 64bit and 32 bit version on the same DVD, in my case there was only a 64bit on the systembuilder DVD)
- choose the right folder and extract the canon printer driver folder with 7zip

I just got a Sony Vaio VGN-Z51MRG/B its running Windows 7 Pro x64 so installed all the software I need including CCleaner, now I do a cmd such as "telnet 192.168.28.66 9100" it connects to my Canon iRC 2880i no problem I get the black in screen in cmd all good.
So now I do a CCleaner clean I did untick in oprions "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours"
I did tick "ISS Log Files" and ticked all IE and FireFox cleaning options
Now I do a registry clean back up onto my desktop, restart PC try to telnet my printer it no longer connects this took me a second VAIO system restore to find out the problem is due to CCleaner cleaning I dont wont to do another system restore how can I fix this!...
Here is the printer specs below
http://www.canon-europe.com/For_Work/Products/Office_Print_Copy_Solutions/Office_Colour_Printers/iRC2880i/index.asp?specs=1
I tried registry restore straight away just after I couldn't tracert the device it didnt help, I then tried windows system restore just one step back that didnt do the trick either... Im guessing CCleaner has removed something important just as it did the first time before I done the Sony System Restore to out of the box 1st time state.
I have another PC running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 I do use CCleaner on it although it does not loose the same printer in the same network I can tracert it and ping the device no problem

I recently installed a Canon MX860 multi-function printer and it's software package, including the app that controls the scanning function. That app, Navigator EX 2.1, won't open. It returns an error message saying the program has encountered an error (unspecified) and will let me know when Windows determines what it is. An older version of the software for an older printer worked fine.On the advice of Canon, I installed the software under a different user account and it worked fine.I've cleaned the registry of all mentions of the older program and have also run Registry Booster to correct errors. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the software several times. Why would a program work under one user account and not another? Both were set up as administrators.

I know there are no Vista (64-bit) drivers either. This is the only piece of hardware which is not functional with Windows 7 RC (64-bit).
This is a great printer, so I will stick to XP if no solution is given by Canon. But maybe someone has some official info from Canon regarding this issue .
Has anyone gotten the 64 bit version of Windows 7 to work with the Canon S9000 printer? There is a add-on driver for 64 bit, but it needs the "regular" driver to be loaded first and I cannot seem to get it to install - it dies at 60% every time.
