Cannot Boot Windows If USB Port Is In Use
Feb 29, 2012
I couldn't boot windows anymore, I spent a lot of time looking for the cause of the problem when I finally realised that windows will boot only if USB ports are not in use. This means that I have to unplug my keyboard, mouse, and all other USB devices before starting up my computer. Or else, it will get stuck as soon as the windows logo starts to appear during the loading screen.

When i boot the system up it is trying to use the the DVI or VGA port because i am using a HDMI cable and HDMI port on the video card but why is it always setting my main display as a secondary and i can't see anything that is not set rightI have installed the lastest drivers from ATI's website. I have uninstalled the drivers used driver sweep and removed the card booted up with the integrated video then downloaded the drivers again and installed the card and the drivers and it doesn't help.

get a USB 3.0 flash drive to boot from a 3.0 port?I made a bootable ADATA 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive using LIli. Also used Yumi to make bootable flash drive. Either way it will not boot when plugged in a USB 3 port.It does not show up using BBS popup(F8). Nor does it show up in the bios.It will boot when plugged in a USB 2.0 port. Also, I can make a bootable USB 2.0 flash drive and can boot from it when plugged in 3.0 port. It shows up in the bios and the BBS popup. I have tried everything possible. No luck. I'm stumped. I have the latest bios and driver for this Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller.

just upgraded a laptop from Vista to Windows 7, everything works fine except the computer now will only recognize 1 USB at a time, all the ports (3) work, the external hard drive, camera, printer or speakers all work however I can only use 1 device at a time, I just copied a file from my external to a thumb drive, I had to plug in the external, copy the file to my desktop, unplug the external and plug in the thumb drive to copy the file from the desktop, starting to annoy me, I can't print if I'm listening to music, can't listen to music and copy to the external etc etc etc

I'm attemping to do a clean install on my ASUS UX32VD-DB71. The problem is that there is no disc drive on the laptop, and all 3 of the USB ports are 3.0. But as you guys may know, a USB 3.0 port isn't loaded until Windows has booted. Still, the bootable 2.0 USB was able to boot, but after a few clicks "Next", a window appeared saying ""A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive,

If this isn't the specific section for it i'll take my question somewhere else, but I figured this would be the closest. I've spent hours searching high and low for my issue, here and there i'll find someone post the problem but no answer is ever posted.I can't open any ports, everything is perfect port forwarding is enabled, hell I even enabled DMZ on my router. Works on my laptop (XP Operating System) and on my Xbox Live. Only doesn't work on this computer.

Just wondered if there's a way to open 2 ports via UPnP (specifically 113 and 3389) on startup, as my silly router refuses to give my computer the same IP every time. Yes, I know I could set my IP as static locally, however, I move my computer to various locations to "share" things?

Just got a new Asus Zenbook UX31E and am having a certain problem where if I plug my external drive (Samsung S2 1TB, USB 3.0, 2.5") into the 3.0 port windows tries to install a driver for the new device but fails. Now the drive powers on when connected but wont load up as an accessible drive and is not found is disc management.I've tried the HDD successfully in another laptop with USB 3.0 and it works fine on my Zenbook's USB 2.0 port so I'm guessing there's no problem with the HDD itself. Also I have tried a small flash drive in the Zenbook's 3.0 port which worked fine.I have tried updating the USB 3.0 driver to the latest version via Asus' driver database but have got the same result.I would of thought with such a prestigious laptop someone else would of run across this problem but all my googling has turned up ziltch.

I have a Sceptre X20WG Naga 20.1" monitor on a DVI connection with my EVGA GTX460 card. I was using it yesterday while studying for finals and decided to hook up my 37" Westinghouse TV via VGA connection, using a VGA-to-DVI converter to plug into the graphics card, as the card only has dual-DVI and mini-HDMI outputs. It was working grand as a second screen, no issue at all. Now, today, I turned on my computer and my Sceptre Monitor wasn't outputting any images at all, it just said no signal detected and then went to sleep, though my computer was still on.
So I turned on the TV out of curiosity and found that the TV was now the main screen, still with the VGA connection, and I hadn't unplugged anything since yesterday. So I logged in and right-clicked on the desktop, went to screen resolution, and here it says that the TV is the only screen detected, even after hitting detect. So I unplugged the VGA from to TV and plugged it into the Sceptre Monitor. Turned on the computer and the monitor worked like a charm on the VGA cable. I also plugged the DVI cable that I was using for the monitor into the TV and that worked like a champ too.
The only reason this is bugging me is because I won't always be using the TV as a main display because it's kinda of a pain to sit close to a screen that big. So I am currently on this forum while my monitor is using the VGA connection. It also seems to vary from which DVI port I use on the videocard because if I plug the VGA cable with converter into the 2nd port, there is no video output, but if it's in the first port, works great. I'm going to try just the DVI cable to the TV on each card port to see what the deal is there.
So basically:
The cable isn't the problem.
The VGA needs to be in the 1st DVI port on the card to work.
The DVI doesn't work at all when hooked up to the monitor.
What I want is to be able to use DVI on the monitor and VGA on the TV.
Specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Q6600 2.4GHz @3.0GHz
8Gb Kingston ValuRam DDR3-1333
Asus P5G41T-M LX Mobo
EVGA GTX460(2x Dual link DVI and 1x mini HDMI)
Windows 7 Professional x64
