Can't Set Default Recording Device?
Jun 19, 2012I can't set stereo mix as a default recording device. It always changes back to microphone when I reboot my system.?

[DEVICE] No Icons Present Under Recording Tab
Jul 5, 2012I have a system running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit which does not show any icons whatsoever when right-clicking on the speaker in the system tray and then clicking on the RECORDING DEVICES option. There doesn't appear to be any devices disconnected and none that are disabled. There simply isn't any type of device listed at all.
This particular user is about to buy and connect a USB microphone to this system. Will he run into problems with no devices listed in this area? Is there something no correctly configured in the BIOS? He is using an ASUS MB, but I do not have the model number in front of me at the moment. The sound, however, is onboard (no separate sound card installed).
I should also note to you that he has full sound capability, full CD/DVD playback sound, full Windows theme sounds, etc.
An Audio Recording Device Cannot Be Found
Nov 10, 2012I'm quite puzzled with this problem. I'm trying to fix a microphone to my PC (Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound > Manage audio devices) and try to configure the "Recording tab". In the tab, the message says "Realtek High Definition Audio Not Plugged In".

Sep 23, 2012Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on HP-DM1-4050us laptop, disabled a couple of unneeded services, now headphones not working, no idea which service caused this but I didn't touch either of the two required audio services (Windows Audio, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder). Audio now plays fine through speakers, but plug headphones in and it's mute. Headphones work fine with other audio devices like my phone, though. Triple checked I'm using the right jack and plugging in completely. I ran the Audio troubleshooting wizard, and it appears the problem is that there are two devices, "Speakers and Headphones" and "Communications Headphones", and the former is the default audio device, the latter is the default communications device, when the latter needs to be both. However, right clicking the latter device and hitting "Make Default Audio Device" has no effect, the former option remains the default audio device. Anyone know what the problem is here, why the default audio device can't be changed, or what windows service could have anything to do with this (besides the two primary audio services)?

I try it again the look at my system and the CPU light blinks a few but not long and still nothing. I put the icon on the desktop and do the same thing, nothing. Most of the time, my computer audio output is set to my on-board motherboard audio connected to simple speakers, but I frequently switch the default device to digital output through my sound card (HTO Striker 7.1). In a perfect world, it would switch back and forth between the 2 settings that I use, but I understand that it might be too much to ask for. May 25, 2011im having trouble with my headphones mic which from some reason recording volume is very low . so low that in game (by using TS [teamspeak]) when other people have the game sound , they can bearly hear me. i set my mic to 100 volume and the boost to +30db but thing stay the same.when i test the mic with recorder the bar even dont rised a little bit .ohh , and by the way , in case anyone thought the problem isnt in the mic which is new due to the fact that after this problem happend at the last microsoft headphones i had, i bought new one (forgot the model).

Mar 27, 2010when i record screen with any screen recorder (camtasia,camstudio) it records slow choppy, especially when i drag windows they move at 5 fps , it flickers. all in all is too slow. I have the same issue on 3 different computers. one with p4, one with core 2 duo 2.8 ghz with 9600 gt 4 gb ram, and on a q9500 ati 4770 4 gb ram. the same results. I believe it's windows 7, coz this is impossible. the same thing happened with windows vista, but they record fast in windows xp , even on my p4 machine. all computers record the same on windows 7. Do not tell me to adjust the setting coz i will laugh at you. I been douing that for 3 years. camtasia forums and support are not helpful. their products sucks.or can you recommend a different program (free or trial)?

Oct 18, 2011It would seem that 7MC won't utilize both tuners when recording back to back programs on the same channel. What it will do is use one tuner and cut off the first program and start another recording. Its really not apparent when there is a 6 minute commercial break between programing, but it is apparent when one program ends and the next starts right up. I have played around with the "padding" under recorder defaults and have set them to 2min before and 2min after, going as far as 10min before/after trying to force the thing to switch tuners and nothing works. It simply cuts short to first program by 10mins.
I've tried playing with the "priority" settings and it seems to me that "priority" has no effect whatsoever. I've tried going into the "series settings" and having it end 5min after without the "when possible". It would seem that the "recorder defaults" over rides the series settings. I am quite sure the 2 tuners are configured correctly because I had to set them up with 2 stb and IR blasters and I can start a manual recording on channel 269 and then watch channel 5. It simply won't tune both tuners to channel 5 simultaneously. I don't remember having this problem with XP or Vista. My tuners are Happage 1850 hybrids PCIe 1x with just the analog tuners having signal. The HD broadcast tuners are open.

Mar 6, 2012My issue is that i would like to be able to have media center audio play only through my tv and not through my pc main speaker system, tv is hooked through hdmi output on graphics card, speaker system through 5.1 output on motherboard. I have tried the audiorenderupdater extender but all that does is set default audio out for entire system, so when itunes is used or game is played on computer audio goes through tv. I would like all system noises, media player, and game audio to run through pc speakers and simultaneously all media center audio (recorded/live tv) to go through tv audio, so i can watch sports center while playing mass effect and have audio from sportscenter on tv audio from mass effect on pc speakers.
Also is there a way to separate media player's actions from media center's. For example if you are laying music in media player and then open media center and play a tv show, music playback stops, not a big deal just like media player better than itunes and would like to be able to watch tv in media center while playing music in media player rather than itunes
