View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is running on windows 7 64 bit and it has microsoft office 2010 starter pack built in. One day my co-worker gave me a CD to install a full version of microsoft office 2010. I thought 'why not?' but after the installation, it asked for product key which I do not have so I uninstalled it (not knowing it will affect my pre-installed microsoft office 2010 starter pack).
Days after I uninstalled the microsoft office (full version), I went to click on microsoft word (starter pack), and it needs a product key (it was pre-installed so there's no way for me to know the product key) and in the end I decided to uninstall it so I can install other working version of microsoft office. It probably leaves trail of registry maybe on the inside and also it has drive Q which I can do nothing about. So, I used "YourUninstaller" to completely remove anything related to 'microsoft office' and it did remove everything but when I tried to re-install different version (or even the same version) of microsoft office, it WON'T let me do it. I kept on getting errors, fed-up with the errors - I did a further reading on the net and found that I have to change the registry file in order to install microsoft office back to my laptop.
I turned the windows installer point to '0' in the regedit thingy (as this is what I read from the net). The default point is 1. After changing the windows installer point to 0, it really did let me install the microsoft office back into my laptop and I thought the problem was over but I noticed my windows now boot-up very slowly, it isn't normal...... and then I changed the point back to 1.
Everything works out fine until I noticed another problem. Every windows start up, I noticed that my razer synapse 2.0 driver now keeps updating. It's like every freaking restart or start up of windows, the razer synapse will update itself so I thought I'd just reinstall it and see what happens. It won't let me uninstall it with the Error 1612: The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
I used to be able to see the html in win xp.I don't know how to see the source in windows 7. I can't find the "source" button.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying for around 6 hours today to get my new computer up and running, but I've run into a problem, my sata disk wont be located during the windows 7 installation. "No drives were found" I've turned on AHCI and I've downloaded drivers from Gigabyte's homepage, but I get the message "To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable Windows installation." Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have seen a thread on this topic, old (312 days) and didn't report a clear solution. I intalled quite some time ago a Windows7 RC1 64 bit, which worked fine and honestly was not bad at all. Unfortunately I didn't use it for a while and now I discovered it expired, so I need a new clean istallation to do my job: find compatibility issues with WIndows 7 professional edition. I received a new DVD with activation key (i guess it must have been downloaded from MSDN) for the purpose.
I'm running windows XP 32 bit right now, but can't install windows 7 because after booting from the DVD it says it can not find a suitable driver. What is this about? I can see all my 4 HDs and the 3 DVDs (one is a Blue Ray driver less than 9 months old ) 2 are sata drivers (a Plaxtor burner and the LG BDD); the 3rd one is an old Toshiba IDE DVD rom (still the faster of the 3). In the installation windows I can browse all drivers and directories, I have unzipped the X58 matheboard drivers in a directory. The installation program can load the drivers (even very very slow).... I tried to load several drivers, but I can't figure out which driver is needed; a DVD rom driver is not available
i recently got an SSD therefore i wont to migrate my windows to it, I have a program which does this for me but when i go into my c: the "Windows" Folder is 37.7GB. But after looking on the web i noticed that most users installation size is around 10-15GBs
Note: Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit.
i bought a student window 7 last night
i downloaded and make an image and burned it on to a dvd
how ever the problem is when i am installing window 7 .. it says i don't have or it can not find my dvd driver...
i do not understand why it needs my dvd driver when it already is using it ..
my dvd rom is a SATA and its simply just plug and play there is no driver..
does anyone know how to solve this ?
I purchased a vizio all in one desktop model CA24-A2 , with windows 7 installed. I upgraded it to windows 8, but decided to return back to windows 7 because the Metro UI always crashes on me. I purchased a windows 7 disc and booted the computer off the disc. When the installation asks which drive to install it to, nothing appears. For some reason, the installation disc is not reading the drives. I've checked vizio's page, but didn't find any drivers for the hard drive that would work. I check the Bios menu and both drives appear. I've read on other forum about changing the bios mode (AHCI,IDE), but my bios menu is very restricted, and i dont have that option available. I used MiniTool Partition wizard on a bootable cd, and it was able to see my hard drives as well. I added some pictures below. When i try to boot windows with windows 8, "bootmgr is missing" error appears. After restarting my computer several times it seems i only have access to the bios menu f2, and not f8 for recovery.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a new custom PC from ebay, a shop called FreshTech Solutions, so when it arrived I tried installing Windows 7 Home Premium (came with it). Obviously I need to do a custom install, as I'm not upgrading from anything, but when I get to the screen where it asks where I would like to install Windows 7, nothing is listed. I've tried loading from the disc that came with the motherboard, the Windows 7 CD itself, even the C drive (said it needed to format it, but couldn't).

It'ts running win 7 ultimate, all h/w is detected ok apart from the integrated network card, therefore i cannot connect to the router and onto the internet. Since Windows 7 is not auto-detecting the integrated NIC, is their a file on the Windows 7 disk i can point it to when i manually try to install it?On a separate note i can connect to the net via my vaio, in case you can suggest where i can d/l a file from.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEven though Windows Update may fail to find them many newer drivers for Windows 7 are available for manual download at the Microsoft Update Catalog website if you manually search for them. You'll need to use IE to use the site. I found WDDM 1.1 drivers for my Intel G33 graphics that were newer than what I could find anywhere else. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog to search.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I'm playing Counter Strike Source, I am able to join a server just fine. HOWEVER, when that server changes maps or I choose to change servers, the game freezes. Specifically, it gets to the part of the loading screen that says "Sending Client Info" and freezes with no error messages. It then does not allow me to close the hl2.exe process by any means and I need to force shut down my computer. The game ran perfectly fine up until about a month ago when this began.

Ever since buying a laptop for myself (May '11) I have been having an issue with playing any online source game. I have a Samsung QX410-S02 which is perfectly capable of running more intense games than CS: S, TF2, or L4D1/2. I have played COD4, BLOPS, BF: BC2, SWTOR, EQ2, D3, Guild Wars 2, etc running fine. The issue is that every 30 seconds to a minute, I will skip 3-4 times in a few seconds, making it impossible to do well in Valve's online shooters.I have tried running the game just the intel graphics card, and just the Nvidia (through Optimus controls) and no change. Running hl2.exe in admin, Windows XP SP2/3 also has no effect. I even tried dual booting with Windows 8, same issue. Unfortunately cannot try XP on this machine as I have issues finding drivers for my HDD.

Intel Core i5 m480 @ 2.67ghz

I have a new HP 6200 small form factor that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64bit. I installed our corporate copy of MS Office Pro 2003 and then installed UPS Worldship 2011, which requires an ODBC to connect to our Access database. When I go into the ODBC to set up the connection under System DSN, it's completely blank. No Access DSN, no Excel DSN, completely blank. If I try to ADD a DSN the only options shown are SQL DSNs which I can not use.Initially, I called UPS Worldship Support. They referred me to Microsoft. After nearly 2 hrs on the phone with MS, they told me to call HP since HP preinstalled the Windows 7 and they handle anysoftware/warranty issues. So, I called HP. Their support is the pits. Nobody I talked with even knew what a DSN is (they kept telling me it was DNS not DSN and they are 2 different things!!).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI wondering if anyone can help answer a problem I am experiencing with using Windows 7 own backup tool.
I have two 500GB hard drives in my system. Drive 0 is partitioned with 390 GB as the C: drive containing Windows 7 and user data, the remaining space is unallocated ready for me to install Ubuntu 9.10. Drive 1, as D:, is the full 465.8GB and is planned to store backups. Before my initial backup this drive was empty.
In the past I've used Acronis to backup, but my version is old and before purchasing the latest version I thought I would try Windows own backup as I have got the impression that it's pretty good.
However, backing up my C: to D: takes up more space than I expected it too.
C:
Size: 390GB
Used: 185GB
Free: 205GB
D: after initial backup (drive empty before then)
Size: 465.76GB
Used: 320.01GB
Free: 145.75GB
Is there something I doing wrong? or is there a reason why it is nearly twice the size? I chose the recommend option and let Windows decide what to backup, was that the wrong decision?
If it helps these are the three files/folders I see at the root of D:
MediaID.bin, WindowsImageBackup and LIANLI-QUAD (my computer name)
