Can't Download ANYTHING From Interwebs?

I was able to successfully download around 3 programs (a copy of firefox, abelton live, and flu.x) until my computer (and all related web browsers) just stopped allowing me to save any type of file.Lemme describe it more fully-- say I'm downloading 'Funkytown.exe' in firefox. The normal 'Do you want to download Funkytown?' window pops up. I click yes. In the download window, however 'Cancelled' is under 'Funkytown.exe'. So when I click the 'restart download' button, everything downloads smoothly-- until it's finished. Once it's done it's no where to be found on the system at all-- as if it's been deleted permanently.Even if I change my download destination, security settings, etc.The only way I've ever been able to override this is if as SOON as I click 'restart download' I right click and click on 'Open containing Folder'-- but even when I do that, after downloading the file disappears.Attempting to use IE to download anything produces a "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded."

I am running windows 7 home 64, and every time I download something the download window that shows the progress of the download goes blank once the download is complete. This is very annoying because I have to open up the download folder again in order to open the downloaded file.

Using WIN7 64 bit and Thunderbird. it will say downloader.app not working trying to solve problem.then just escape that, and do nuthing.i think my little brother deleted something trying to get a mod for his game called minecraft. i also play this but i know how to put mods in it. i just didnt want to put the mod he wanted in it.thats when i think he tryed to do it himself.

I cannot download any files from the web. I have a dell inspiron 537s and am using windows 7 home 64 bit. I've tried to download both on mozilla and internet explorer. When I try to download I get the dialogue box that shows the download but underneath it says canceled. I try to click on it anyway, it looks like it is downloading but it does not.

After installation, in IE8, I can initiate a file download and it will proceed to DL the file but upon finishing, the file disappears from the saved location. I then installed Firefox from a flash drive without issue but when I DL a file in Firefox, it also proceeds to DL the file but upon the end produces an invalid file with 0 bytes.

Every time I try to download something I get taken to CNET home page. I have tried every solution listed under help and they have not worked. I tried emailing customer support and they told me I have to talk to a specialist and there is no way I am paying $38, refundable or not. I have tried google chrome and firefox. Using IE is out of the question. I might as well throw my laptop out the window. It will probably do less damage.

well the problem is i went to my friend today after a long night trying to fix the problem from the first thread which didnt work and everything was okay since then, thats the last time i touched the computer and when i was at my friend's house i wanted to download an mp3 and didnt figure out why it downloads it perfectly but then i saw on the firefox download statusbar "file size: file not found" so i checked my desktop and found the file which was named like it should be only at the end was ".part" which as i know is the temp file being downloaded. i tried changing its name to .mp3 and it didnt work, i also tried refreshing the desktop which made the file disappear! now im at my home again and i tried to download it again assuming my friend's router was maybe malfunctioning but the same thing happens now at my place.what is wrong with my new computer?!i googled the problem and found out that memtest would let me see if my ram is the problem. i downloaded memtest which doesnt work on my win 7 coz its 64 bit and memtest doesnt support it at all.

I am super computer illiterate. There are 2 specific DOS games that I want to download to my computer, but I have Windows 7 and of course W7 is so advanced DOS needs special stuff to work in it. So I was really just hoping someone could provide SPECIFIC instructions on how to download the games Castle of the Winds 1and 2 and Wolfenstein 3D on to Windows 7. I know they are both shareware (free) so it's perfectly legal to download them.

Computer was working fine two days ago, but yesterday I noticed that I can't seem to download any files anymore. I've tried with Chrome, IE, saving/opening the files, restarting my computer, saving to different locations (both C: and D... I have also run a full computer virus scan using Avast; a full-malware scan using Malwarebytes; disk check (x2); system check; restarting computer on safe mode with networking... all to no avail. Problem still persists.When I save to the desktop I watch the file - and once the download finishes the file completely disappears. Opening via Chrome says that the location can't be found. When IE is used and I uncheck the close box dialogue, it just blanks out on open folder location. This is really interfering with my ability to download lecture notes for class...Attached is an error I get when scanning using HijackThis, and its subsequent log. Also, the results from my disk check (I'm not sure if it's pertinent).

I have tried system readiness tool, and also microsoft fixit program. neither have worked. Have checked in services that windows upate and base intelligence are running and on automatic. i have tried a clean boot to see if that would help. have deleted 7gigs worth of unnecessary files and still nothing.

My daughter has a download of a paid for app stuck at 100%. If we reboot the computer and go to the download site it comes up at 100% and spins. We cleared the browser history and rebooted also same thing. Is there a way to delete what's already been downloaded and start over.

When I had XP I could save animated pictures in my computer then use them in my emails. Made my emails fun. Now I have Windows 7 (W-7) and find that when I try to save them I only have Bitmap and *all* to save them in. In XP it gave me other choices like .gif and .jpeg. When I try to put them in my emails they are no longer animated. Is there a way to save them in W-7? Do gif and jpeg have to be downloaded into W-7? If I can download these programs, where can I get them? Also, I noticed that some pictures do save to jpeg and gif but I can't figure out how they are doing it.

In both Mozilla Firefox and Window's Explorer, when I download ANYTHING by right-clicking-save-file-as, it won't allow me to.In Mozilla Firefox the little window will kick open and instead of downloading automatically, it says canceled right away. I double click on it and it appears to download. I wait for it to download and when it's done, the file is not there, and cannot open it.First I thought it was the site, so I checked another site, and same thing. Then I tried in Explorer:There I got an error message that says, "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded."YESTERDAY, this wasn't an issue, and I made no changes to any security settings. Today, I can't download anything.

my windows update is stuck on 0%, as is avg update. i can google but some websites dont work or are slower and some videos don't load.
