I've got a new PC running Windows 7 Home 64-bit. It works well and I'm very pleased.I've just tried importing my Outlook.pst file from my old computer (ran Win XP Pro) which died (partition got partially deleted). I've managed to access it using "Find and Mount" which will display the partition as a drive in My Computer and I can access all files bar those in "Documents & Settings" which it comes up saying I don't have permisson to access.I've tried to take ownership of these files, however I get an error saying "The media is write protected". Is there anything I can do to recover the files?
I had about 15 files recovered/saved by an abnormal shutdown. These were named File0000. chk to File0014. chk.First I tried renaming them with the likely extensions I use most often, such as .xlsx and .docx for Excel and Word. This successfully recovered over 1/2 of my files. Now I have 5 files remaining, which aren't yet recoverable, even trying other extensions like .pdf, .txt, and .jpg but no luck on those.I also downloaded and ran the free UnCHK at ericphelps.com and this recovered 1 more file. url...With my 5 remaining files, I tried joining some of them, thinking that maybe that might solve something, but that hasn't worked yet.I haven't yet tried joining different combinations of 3 file fragments into 1, as the permutations of 3, 4, or 5 files would be time consuming.
Here is an example of the code to join 2 files. copy /b file0099.jpg + file0001.chk test. jpg..The above would take the partially recovered file0099.jpg file and add the contents of file0001.chk to it, storing the result in test.jpg. You'd then have to try opening the test.jpg file to see if that helped.
I had a hd go out on me. So I order a new 1.5 tb hd and install win 7 fresh on it. When I try to access my old hd it just states it has drive I with no info and ask to be formatted before used. I want to recover my old files off of it.
had to use cyberlink on startup menu to get around s.m.a.r.t. hdd virus. selectes save ibfo fron c drive before reformatting startup menu, how can i retrieve info from d drive now, already tried once?
I am using Windows 7 OS. I had two logical partitions, E & F. I saw an unallocated free space on my disk. I tried to to mount unallocated drive to another
logical drive , it asked for the folder, where I wanted to mount I gave one folder in E drive. it asked if i want to format...i said
no. and thats all, process completed! And just then I saw there was no other logical drive left...neither E nor F. Now I can see only C drive and nothing else. how to recover my hard drive and the files now?
run ComboFix to get rid of the spyware, I got rid of it but in the process ComboFix deleted some of my files and placed them in Qoobox. How can I get those files back? Its really important as I invested lots of time on working with these files, they are .xml type ones. Also for finding them I used Pandora Recovery, I was able to recover these files with it but they were all 0KB. I have also not found any of this files in C:\QooBox\QuarantinePandora recovery shows that the files are located at C:\Qoobox\Test, but there is nothing there. [URL]
Recently the external HD with my complete iTunes library crashed and could not be repaired/accessed. Fortunately one of my children had a copy of it - but had deleted a substantial amount of classical music that did not interest him.But after the deletion his HD had only been used to play the songs, nothing was added or edited, so I thought it would be easy to undelete or recover 'my lost music'. My first disappointment was that the good old UNDELETE command in MS-DOS no longer seems to work in Windows 7. Correct?I found Windows 7 information that deleted files can be recovered with the 'previous versions' option, but for my music no previous version could be found. Or did I look the wrong way? Then I used three different file recovery systems: minitools data recovery, file recover, recover my files.
All three found tons of files (90% the same ones), but hardly any usable music. Most was crap - and you can only find out by testing each individual file.First of all, the files names were often not the songtitles, but something like $BN76GTP4A. If a property field contains a song title and/or artist name and/or duration, it is often the incorrect one. The file itself too is often crap: it starts in the middle of a song, then after 10 seconds switches to a complete different piece of music - and so on. Unpredictable result.I always thought that recovering/undeleting data from a 'non-affected' HD was easy as drinking a cup of tea. Apparently not. Where are the days that it was enough to run MS-Dos > Undelete and find ALL deleted files complete and unharmed, with only the first file name letter replaced by _ or $. Those days seem gone. Why?
chkdsk ran on a FAT32 SD card. It recovered two directories and several files which it put into files. How can I recover them?
The two directories it saved are in files with the same name as the directories used to be (i.e., "Masterpiece_Mystery_Zen_Ratking_720p_20110731_TTL", "Phantom"). Directory Phantom had several subdirectories.
The files saved are named FILE0000.CHK, FILE0001.CHK, ... FILE0045.CHK. They were all put into a directory called FOUND.000.
I installed windows 7 on my computer and all of my files are gone. I have been reading online that you can install an undelete program, but I'm still not sure, the other option was to take the hard drive out and connect it as a slave drive to another computer and use a undelete program on the computer. Please help me, I dont want to mess this up anymore that it is. What should I do, and can I recover the files?
I was installing windows 7 on a mac. Complications arose and i just formatted the hard drive and installed windows. I just realized i left a few files on the mac side that I need. I know that you can recover stuff after deleting them as long as you dont overwrite the hard drive, the problem is, i partitioned it for windows. Can i still get those files back even tho i partitioned it?
I was running vista til my had to do a fresh install of windows 7. I had been backing up with nt backup and still have those files. They were under an administrator account. When I attempt to restore them I see the files transfered but am unable to see them in the folder they were transfered to.The size of the file is 50 gigs so I know they are in there but cannot see or acces them. I have changed ownership to the new admin account in 7. tO NO AVAIL
Today I accidentally deleted my folder on the desktop of windows-7. The files are not there in the Recycle Bin. There are some .pdf files and .jpg files in the folder which is too important for me. I just copied the folder with files from external source. Now, I don't have that external source from where I can recover or get my files. Which software will work to recover the folder. I tried some recovery software which works for the files. I am not able to find any files. It shows me recover the files which are deleted before a week. But, i am unable to find the files which i deleted today (Shift+Del).
I have a crashed Lacie network storage device, something in it's networking board is fried. It's comprised of 2 separate HDD's, both 500gig. I was afraid they were going to be stripped but it appears they hold their own complete files. I was able to look at the files through a file recovery program on Hiren's bootdisk. Said program was unable to keep file structure however. It seems theres no way to activate it to be read as a disk in windows. Computer management reads both of the disks as having 5 small partitions and a large (476gig) partition on it. No real way to look into that partition though?A couple other programs analyzed the disk and tell me it's 'linux native'. how to pull the files as well as folder structure out of it?
My harddrive have 3 partitions. I accidentily formatted the one that I need. The Windows files are not in there, but almost every programs that I installed is installed in that partition. Now, I could launch any program, it says Avast snxhk.dll is missing. If I try to launch a portable program from my use, I get this "file system error (-1073741515)" message. What should I do?
I noticed I had two copies of the My Documents folder, one in my user folder where I want it, and the other buried deep in my pictures folder (I think I accidentally dragged and dropped it there once when I was trying to change the order of icons in the navigation pane). I deleted the one in my pictures folder, and both folders disappeared! I closed the screen out, re-opened "my computer," and see both My Documents folders back, but empty.
1) How can I recover my files? My last backup was last week, and I've written quite a bit since then. I was actually about to back up again when I saw the annoying second folder and deleted it, not realizing they were linked. The folder was too large and bypassed the recycle bin.
2) How can I fix the two folders issue? I have the same problem with my music folder also, and have had problems with the folders under my username seeming to disappear, reappear, and move for no apparent reason. The computer has Windows 7 Professional.
recover my files doesn't search on C: drive. The hard drive have C: and D: partition.Win 7 runs from the C: drive.Recover my file and some other programs doesn't search on C: Recover my files cannot find Crive, but works on Drive.I have some other recovery programs and find my files,pictures-BUT they not completely recovered, so cannot open them.Had same problem before. Somehow Recover my files did make a better search and was able to recover the picture files fully.
I do not know how or why but some files that I have been using were just gone when I went to find them. The files where in a word document with other files which are still there.
I'm in desperate need to recover things from my corrupted D drive. When I click on it, it says D: is not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. When I restart it always does chkdsk for that drive, but it can't repair the corrupt master file table, and it's the same result where the drive is unreadable. I used the Getdata recover my files software to recover the drive. It didn't find the things I desperately need, and I noticed a bunch of files it recovered is now corrupt. The most important thing I need to recover is a windows movie maker project that I've spent hours upon hours upon hours on for a music video. I so desperately need that .mswmm file. This software found just about all of my windows movie maker projects except that one, just my luck.
The second most important thing I need is my Adobe Audition session files along with the wav's for the sessions. I have a new computer I should be getting today, and my friend will be over in 2 days. I need to figure something out quickly cause he will need to format the drive which will make it lose everything. He is pretty sure that the drive will be unreadable on his laptop which he's bringing over.It recovered 2 936gb files and a 465 gb file with no file extensions that were labeled $BadClus~$Bad_1 $BadClus~$Bad_3
I deleted my partitions by mistake. Drive originally had 2 partitions, 100MB (Windows 7 setup partitiion) and 930GB (Data storage partition). In summary:
1) I deleted the 100MB partition (because disk is(was) now storage disk) and 930gb partition were deleted too. 2) I started following a guide from microsoft and re-create the 2 partitions as RAW (without format). 3) I deleted the 2 raw partition and created a full space partition to the disk QUICK FORMATTING NTFS. 4) Started to try "Recuva" but most of the files recovered (1,000,000 files) are broken, i tried the option to recover Folder Structure but fails.
Is there any way to recover the files and Folder Structure properly? Except of the partitions deletions/creations I didn't write anything inside the disk.
I've been using a flash drive for coursework and transferring data and windows 7 suddenly decided it was corrupted despite me finding no problems with it. So me being me decided to allow it to try and fix it and guess what happens, I wind up with a file with the same name as the folder it decided to remove and a new folder full of what looks like setting and configuration files (got a cog icon, cant remember what extension they have). How do I recover files that haven't been backed up???????
i recovered from a "windows restore (or) system recovery" virus the only way i could get to work.that was restoring to a restore point. Except i had to try 2-4 different points before the computer finally booted normally.I dont back up files daily, therefore, the day the virus got thru (Webroot) was the same damn day I finished and saved final changes on my last 2 midterm projects of the semester. i had just saved the final changes minutes before the fake windows restore virus shat all over me in every way possible!!! It sucked.... still does cuz i have nothin in the grade book for either midterm, except a fat old ZERO.
By mistake my external hard disk formatted by clean and clean. How to recover my all file Inside now when I connect the pc its detecting hard disk but not showing its connected.
I am familiar with System Restore, selecting earlier times, and the often-available option of undoing a System Restore. But I found out (too late) that according to Microsoft, System Restore done in Safe Mode is not able to be undone.I lost 1,000's of photos doing the system restore, now the only restore point option visible is what I believe to be the new one after I did the restore. Prior to me doing the System Restore, there were a number of times from me to choose from, I just chose one that was 10 days ago. Is there any software, method, or hack that I can use or do to recover the thousands of photos that were on my desktop and that were in folders on my desktop? It's a 1 TB HD?
I have a SanDisk 16GB microSDHC Memory Card and it worked well all the time. Unfortunately, I formatted it yesterday and all the files are gone. I want to look for some free software to recover my files.
My old windows 7 install wouldnt boot up, so i installed windows 7 over it so all my items get saved to the windows.old folder. Now when i go to my windows.old folder i cannt find my: pictures, music, e.g.I remember doing the same thing with xp and i had to take owner ship of the folder. I think i have took owner ship of my user folder and i still cant find my stuff. Im adminI was admin on my last installI know the stuff is in the folder due to how much space is took up on my drive and when i slect the folder to make it not read only it says mine craft is there.
I am running 64 bit version of win 7 ultimate build 7600. I cant access some files, such as c:documents and settings, which is actually a shortcut. When i go to"users" the files there have a small lock on them but i can still open them up so why cant i open up c:documents and settings? I tried right clicking/properties/security and making changes there but they wont work. I get notices that i cant make any changes
