1.Click the start button
2. Search "windows Anytime Upgrade"

I have a dell mini 1018 which got dropped and now has HDD issues. This happened in july 2012. I tried recovering my files and it didn't work. SO i put it in the cupboard and was going to send it away to recover my files but since it was a hardware fault the thought of 300 for physical recovery made me a little sick.Anyway, thought i'd give it another go and luckly i have managed to recover all my files. I dont care about my programs as it was fairly new and not much on there. The netbook contains 1 HDD with 2 PartitionsThe netbook doesn't have a cd/dvd drive and instead uses a recovery partition. I have brought the exact same HDD and am trying to image the drive but i am getting CRC errors. My question is if i manage to image both the partitions and the recovery partition has no CRC erros then i should be able to use the recovery to reset back to factory settings on the new HDD ?Im using DriveImageXML to backup each partition but how would i loading them onto the new HDD, would i have to partition the drive first ? i guess it would have to match the same setup as the original.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron Mini 1011. It has installed on it Windows 7 Starter 32 bit. I'm trying to do a complete system reset on it to wipe everything and bring it back to factory settings. The computer doesn't have a cd/dvd drive. I don't have an external cd/dvd drive. The computer doesn't have a restore partition. From what I gather I need to download or create the iso for Windows 7 Starter.I can't find this iso. I can find the iso for home premium and professional, but not for starter.

View 5 Replies View RelatedUsing the Windows 7 DVD that came with the machine I went through the repair Windows procedure 3 times. The first time it searched for restore points of which there are none because the machine has Rollback Rx installed instead. It then restarted with no change. I went through the same process but this time it said it had repaired Windows however; restarting gave me the same missing OS message. On the 3rd attempt it displayed the restored OS as being on D:. I ran the diagnostic tool and it said no errors were found. Restarting gave the same error.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell N5110 with a failed hard drive. I bought a new hard drive, reinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I then downloaded all the drivers from dell. I followed the Dell recommended install order. After all the drivers are loaded, I go to Device manager and it says I am missing a network controller driver and I am unable to access wireless. I press function + F2 and I can turn on the wireless, but I am unable to add a wireless network. I have tried numerous network drivers from the dell site - doing a win reinstall before trying a different driver, but none are working. I have reformatted the machine again (for the 5th time) and I have no drivers currently installed. Where do I go from here?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a computer for free, a Dell Studio 1555. When I got it, it would try to boot, then come to a screen that said that bootmgr.exe was missing. Sometimes I got a message that said something like mpio.sys was corrupted or missing. I have a Win 7 disk, so I put it in and tried to repair the installation. Each time I ran it, it said that the repair had failed. I tried to reinstall windows 7, and It made it to the first restart in the process. It showed the "Starting Windows" screen, but the colors of the windows logo never appeared, then I got the missing bootmgr screen. I decided to install Ubuntu and see if that worked, and it did (I installed it alongside the Windows installation). It was Ubuntu 10.04. I thought, "OK, so i'll just use this as a Linux machine"...and I decided to go back and reinstall so that I could use the entire hard drive. It never worked correctly again. Each subsequent time that I installed Ubuntu, I was told something along the lines of "Gnome Power Manager did not install correctly" and got a slow and choppy Ubuntu installation.Tried to install 11.10, and it failed completely. I opened the Ubuntu live from my usb drive, and opened the disk utility. I now cannot format, reformat, partition, or delete partitions on the drive. Is all of this just a case of a hard drive on its last legs, or is there something else going on here?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy daughter had received a Dell Inspiron mini with Windows 7 starter preloaded. At some point it started crashing when attempting to connnect to our network (in home) to get on internet. I also noticed it would not run windows updates. After some research discovered possible virus. I did run several spyware, malware programs and was able to remove fake trojans. Everything seemed to be going well until I rebooted. The system now boots to system recovery options. Knowing there is nothing really on the computer to loose, I have tried ever option. When it runs startup repair, it is unable to repair the problem. I have tryed system restore, I picked a point previous to problems start, it said it restored it but it still boots back to system recovery options. I tried the image recover and factory image recovery. If i go to command prompt I even started the setup.exe and was going to reinstall but it says it needs some drivers and for me to insert dvd/cd. I dont have one since it came preinstalled, or at least I have never seen one with this machine. I can view in dos prompt everything on the machine. Every time I reboot it goes back in to repair cycle with no repair.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have my brothers laptop and the laptop is sitting at BOOTMGR is missing, I can get into BIOS. It will not see recovery disk and will not go into safe mode!!!
It is set to boot from CD Rom but does not see the recovery disc. Is there anything that I can do? As I am now stuck
My husband's comp crashed...he had Win7 Os. Recovery did not work! I tried to reintall Win7 got as far as formatting the hard drive. I then reinserted the cd to reinstall and now all I get as far as "Press any key..." I press a key and "BOOTMGR MISSING" press ctrl + alt + del to restart. Of course this doesn't work.I have reset the bios so that cd-rom is the only bootable device. It will not move from the bootmgr missing screen. The cd is a legal bootable copy, the hard drive and dvd player work I have tried them in another comp.System Configuration[CODE]

View 11 Replies View RelatedHer computer is an HP laptop it is runnung windows 7 . I have created the recovery disk( 32 bit) from online as that is what most sites said to do. After it said it was loading the windows files I clicked next. Then it said system recovery options. In the box it says (recovered) 292135 MB (d Local Disk. It is checked on use recovery tool taht can help fix problems starting windows. I click next. I get a pop up that says this version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair,So then I made the 64 bit recovery disk & restarted. I was unsure if it was 64 bit or 32 bit to start.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst off, why is reinstalling windows 7 such a pita? I've done it several times and it's soooooooo bad. With that aside, tonight I was attempting to reinstall 64 bit from 32 bit. I reformatted my hd using dos because advanced recovery simple does not work. After formatting and restarting I'm getting te bootmgr error. After reading countless threads with fixes nothing is helping. I CANNOT get past this error. I have the disc in, it won't go past the error. Pushing f2, f8, and f12 does not work. I can't do anything in the bios. Most of the solutions simply assume you can get PAST the error.
The next step I tried was unplugging the hd I formatted and installing to a different hd. This gives me an error of missing a device required. At this point I have no idea what to do besides maybe reformatting the hd again using another pc. Is there a recovery program I should dl to a blank cd?
i make the partition as active by going to computer managment-> disk management got this popup message, Only make a partition as active if it contains a functioning operating system. If the partition lacks an operating system. marking it active might cause your computer to stop working. Do you want to continue?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a very big problem with my reinstall of Windows 7 Pro. I have now lost the bootmgr and am not able to "see" my SSD. Ouch! I searched the forum for my error: 0x800704f and couldn't find it nor could I get to see my SSD and am therefore not able to use the tutorial to "get it back." Well, I am at a loss at this point. I was originally trying a fresh install of Windows 7 pro. But, just prior, I got an error box that the Catalyst Control Center was not working properly(or something like that). But, when after all my efforts seemed to take me further down the rabbit hole. I concluded that I must post this thread!I built it myself and know just enough to make me dangerous!
