BSOD Using Firefox And Sometimes On Chrome?
May 8, 2012
I am getting BSOD on my Asus U56E. This is a refurbished laptop i received and BSOD has been happening since day 1. It often happens when I use Mozilla Firefox and sometimes with Chrome. First the mouse pointer freezes up and thereafter BSOD comes up.I had called up Asus customer support and they helped me update BIOS and keyboard driver but it still keeps happening.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Java won't run in IE9 but will run in Firefox and Chrome. When I go to Verify Java Version at Java.com in Firefox and Chrome they return Version 7 Update 9 but the test never returns a result in IE9. I uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Java add-ons are enabled. Security settings look ok.Some sites return "An add-on for this website failed to run". Same sites in Firefox and Chrome work fine. Java games don't work in IE9 but same games play in Firefox and Chrome.

Right now I'm working with Internet explorer. Firefox and Chrome don't open any websites. I changed the internet settings in control panel but it didn't help. Some people tell it's about antivirus programs. I am using NOD32 antivirus?

I am running windows 7 pro 64 bit and recently been having some issues I first noticed with firefox. Computer boots up and loads the main screen but then when I try to open firefox or IE nothing happens. some applications work fine (chrome, garmin training centre) but others will not open at all including the restore application, Itunes, msconfig and others.
The network and sharing centre icon in the tray had a blue circle over it as if it's trying to do something after 10minutes that is replaced with red cross and then after a further 5 minutes or so the red cross goes and all the things I was trying to open actually open.
If i open in safe mode with networking it is all fine and I can open everything straight off. The only new thing I have installed is nebak replicator a device that is meant to back up folders to a NAS.
I have Zone alarm anti virus and firwall latest version and that hasn't picked up anything. I have also scanned with spy bot and nothing there. attached is hijack log

One of the features I like about FF is that it gives you the option to remember user names and passwords. Not sure if the latest Chrome and IE do the same??

I have a laptop from my company and I have a problem accessing the internet:- When I'm connected to my company network : everything works fine.I go on internet through IE, Chrome, Firefox etc.- But when I'm at home or in another company or my 3G usb stick:Only IE works for internet. Firefox and Chrome display error page like I wasn't connected to internet. It seems not related with browser's proxy setting. (I have tried all options and moreover, my home connection doesn't require proxy settings for example)

My laptop has Windows 7 and IE, Chrome, and Firefox wont open. I always use Chrome. Its really weird because my laptop says it is connected to the internet through my wireless router. It loads for a while and then says "This webpage is not available." Im thinking maybe a virus has switched some settings, beacuse I ran Mal Ware bytes and something came up that I deleted.

This morning all my browsers have crashed, IE 9, FF and Chrome on my desktop. When it happened to IE, I thought it was a bug of some kind then checked w/FF and Chrome and they all went done. After restarting each browser they all work fine. I'm in the process of cleaning my system.

I randomly receive "server not found" while browsing on IE, Firefox, or chrome. A refresh or 5 usually does the trick. Even when that works most of the time the webpages arent fully displayed . Sometimes I'll have to reset the router and that is only a temporary fix. I've called Belkin, Geek squad ETC. exercised my options.
Laptop is 2 mos old, (wifi). my desktop(wired) doesn't seem to have these issues. My iPhone 4 when using the wifi has the same random" server not found" issues.

I have the following configuration on an assembled computer:
PHENOM II X4 + Gigabyte GA 88 GMA UD 2H
Seagate HDD 500GB Sata
DDR-3 Corsair x2
HD 6850
Cooler Master SMPS 500W
Windows 7 64-bit
My issue is that computer freezes when I browse the internet with Chrome, Firefox and Explorer. I can work with Explorer with one tab as of now - I can't open more than one because it freezes the entire computer in a minute or two after opening additional tabs. I have tried System Restore, Registry cleaner, defrag, anti virus scans Mbam scans etc but nothing works.
A few days ago I had shifted the computer to a warmer room and stupidly put the chassis next to an inverter which emits heat. I used to have freezes earlier but it was a rare occurrence maybe just 1-2 times a week - but yes it used to be there before. Opening many tabs as I wanted in chrome, firefox or explorer was never a problem earlier. I have the problem is only with internet browsing - playing videos, music, work on excel, ppt etc is no problem.

If I connect to my work VPN, then IE refuses to load any pages (inside the work network or outside). It doesn't even appear to try, just goes immediately to "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." I was able to connect to the computer with teamviewer remotely, name resolution worked properly, I was able to ping the web server etc. all fine, even brought the page up in FF and Chrome with no problems. I turned off all add-ins and restarted IE, same deal. If I disconnect from the VPN then IE works fine again. I was running IE9, I tried uninstalling it but having the same issue with IE8.

Yesterday while using Firefox I noticed it kept crashing, with the cause being a "BEX Event". I try opening it to no avail, everytime terminating immediately after I clicked on it. I tried Chrome and Explorer, but both of them suffered the same problem, immediately crashing due to the BEX error. I restarted my system multiple times to see if it subsides, but it reappeared promptly everytime for ALL three browsers (!) I tried Safe Mode with networking to see if its gone. Nope, same problem, with Explorer and Firefox collapsing instantly, while Chrome seem to take around 10-12 seconds of surfing before flatlining due to the same cause.
I then decided to use System Restore and managed to take my whole system back to 5 days ago when none of the problems were happening. Tried again, but nope, same issue with a BEX event. This time it seems Explorer would display it as BEX64 instead of just BEX. I tried resetting entire settings for Explorer, but the BEX error would always prevent me from doing so by shutting down the whole things before its done. I thought, maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with a faulty DEP on Explorer, and added it the list of exceptions for DEP. Still didn't work, and the system wouldn't let me add Chrome and Firefox to the list either. I tried to see if maybe I can download some new antivirus or antispyware programs off the net, except that none of my browsers work, so I have no access to the Internet in both normal and Safe modes.... Sufficient to say I am typing here from a library's computer.

There are two Win7 machines on my home network. The "Old Machine" is a Dell Dimension 8400 with a newly formatted disk and Win7 32b. All connections to the net with this machine are nearly instant. The "New Machine" is a user-build i7-860 based box with Win7 64b, 8g ram and fast video card - about 1yr old. In the past few days I've noticed slower and slower web-returns. In the lower left corner of the browser I see "Waiting for tomshardware.com..." and it can hang for MINUTES. I'm posting this message via the "Old Machine" as I couldn't get here from the long waits. The Bad Machine has latest network drivers, all Windows stuff is up to date, latest firefox and chrome. Each of two virus packages were run independently - each found a Trojan and it was removed. Both programs are now disabled. I swapped the Cat5 cable on the switch - no change. If I boot that machine in Safe Mode w/Networking - the response time to web connections is excellent - no 'Waiting for..." messages. When I boot back to full Win7 the slowdown is back.I keep thinking this might be a NIC failure - it is Realtek motherboard chipset.

I'm running Win 7 64bit and this past week I started getting BSOD restarts several times a night, mostly when using Firefox 5. I just uninstalled/re-installed it and got a blue screen 20 minutes later. The message that pops up after the restart shows two files, one a minidump but I don't know what to do with it. I've updated my graphics drivers, Windows update, scanned with Windows SE and Malwarebytes with nothing being found. I don't know what steps to use to start diagnosing the problem.

I have been getting BSOD's only when using Firefox. Started happening about 2 - 3 months ago. Stopped using FF and have been using IE 9 for the last month and have not had one BSOD since, but I really hate IE. I downloaded the latest version of FF yesterday hoping that a new version might have fixed the issue. Five minutes later and BSOD again.

I have been experiencing BSOD on my windows 7 x 64 system. The computer is a home built computer as follows system built in november of 2011:
MB: Asus M5A99X EVO
CPU: AMD FX 8120
Memory: Patriot PG34G1333EL
Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 6970
OS Hard Drive is a Seagate ST310005 28AS SATA Hard Drive
I have installed the latest drivers and BIOS
The problem occurs when I am running Firefox 10.0 or Adobe CS5. On the surface I am guessing that I am having two issues one with the memory and one with a conflict on the video card. What I am not sure is if one problem is causing the other to occur. The Blue Screen message is MEMORY_Management I am also getting a message when Firefox crashes that it is a conflict with the video card. On occasion when I start adobe Photoshop CS5 from Adobe bridge I get a message that Photoshop has temporarily stopped GPU on the video card. I have run Memory checker and it finds memory problem but it is not specific if it is the RAM Memory or Video Card memory.

I have a problem. FireFox on both my laptop and my stationary comp triggers a BSOD instantly when started.
The stationary runs Windows 7 Ultimate RTM 64-bit and the laptop Windows 7 Pro Retail 32-bit, both from MSDNAA.
BSOD: BAD_POOL_HEADER
Firefox version is 3.5.2 I think.
Atleast on the laptop FireFox runs fine on XP.
I have Reinstalled FireFox (not saving anything, clean version) to no avail.
Since it's the same exact Blue screen on both machines I'm ruling out any hardware-problem.
Yesterday everything worked flawlessly on both computers.
6 hours ago FireFox stopped working on my laptop.
It still worked on my stationary until 30 mins ago when I rebooted it and it started there too.
I've searched all harddrives on the laptop with Macbytes MalwareBytes, SpyBot Search & Destroy and Avast! anti-virus with no results.
My guess is that some update to FireFox/Windows 7 all of a sudden made
this happen, which only came into effect when I rebooted.
Anyone else have this? How could I solve it?

I've got a new system, and almost at random I get a BSOD on occasion. No excessive system load, and the only correlation I can see is that Firefox had been open each time. I've included CPUZ screen shots in addition to the dump files.

I downloaded the new iTunes 10.7 a few weeks ago and since then my computer has been crashing multiple times per day at what seems to be random times during the day often when I am using Firefox. I have tried re-installing iTunes and going back to old versions as well as restoring my computer to previous restore points but no luck. During this time I was also without any antivirus software but I almost positive that I don't have a virus and I am now back to using Trend Micro. At the blue screen i get DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message and NETw5s64.sys although I'm not sure if this is relevant.I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I have tried updating some of my drivers because this was a proposed solution on the iTunes discussion board to a similar problem I was experiencing.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Bought as a student upgrade edition online. The computer is mostly new. I put it together myself and it hasn't had any problems until now. I had League of Legends up in the background, and I was surfing on Firefox when my mouse cursor...changed. It looks glitchy, becoming white/multicolored lines and looking fuzzy. I know that isn't right, so I immediately restarted my computer. After a few minutes it BSOD'ed, and now I am officially worried.

These BSODs dont let Windows finish to create a dump file...as you can see in the pictures, it always hangs in the "Initializing disk for crash dump..." and then reboots. Only one time it finished, and it was something related to Ready Boost (which was never used or allowed to be used in the system, so I am considering this as not related to the problem...I already looked for BSODs related to Ready Boost, and it came in no help). So, since the Windows dont make a dump file, I am afraid the dump files collected from your "tool" are not related to this problem. I also believe that the Bluethoot devices listed as problematic in the diagnostic tools are not related to the problem also, since I almost never use any bluethoot device with my PC.After the system reboots from the BSODs it looks like the BIOS is weird, it usually says that "no operational system was detected", so I have to turn off the PC and then wait some time and turn it on again, and usually this makes the BIOS "see" the Windows again (sometimes I have to unplug the power cable and wait until all the LEDs are off). Just a couple of times the messages were different, like "The CPU could not be overclocked" opening another BIOS screen from American Megatrends.
These BSODs usually started just after I opened Firefox...my Firefox is with a little problem at the first start up...it starts to consume 25% of my CPU and hangs...I have to kill the firefox process and then open it back again to use it (the second time it loads fine)...if I didnt I would have gotten an BSOD in just a few seconds. This happened in a few other programs too, but randomly, first the process hangs, then the entire system and then the BSOD cames. Almost all the BSODs had no usefull data on them as you can see in the pictures. But since Firefox is a memory hog and some times I got KERNEL_IN_PAGE_ERROR and KERNEL_IN_MEMORY_ERROR (I dont have that picture I think), I started to believe that the problem may be in the RAM timings, or some other RAM related problem...Now with these new Ram timings I let firefox consume 25% of my CPU, at the first start of firefox, for minutes, and the system doesn't crash anymore. Also the only 2 times Firefox had set an BSOD it came with a message from Windows before, saying that "Instruction 0x123456 (i dont know the number :P) could not be read" and then it crashed explorer.exe and then the computer crashed. As I said, it's more stable, but still not "stable".

My laptop was left on yesterday with numerous firefox tabs open (x20) for various websites, although no one was using the computer and this is a regular occurrence without fault until yesterday. I'd gone out fishing and noticed the BSOD and took this photo of the screen showing the full error as "stop 0x0000007A (0xc0487688, 0x3e5898c0, 0x96ed7e3e)"
I had altered the BSOD settings in the past to stop the laptop from restarting in order to have time to take note of the error codes in case of future failures, although I hadn't had any BSOD for over a year. The previous BSOD's were 0x000000d1 (netwLv32.sys) and 0x0000007e (Volsnap.sys), unlike those BSOD's, the one shown in the photo doesn't have a description other than the error code.
I had turned off the laptop while in BSOD, having completed dumping physical memory; subquent restarts were only reaching here followed promptly by a black screen with the flashing white underscore, which I could escape by alt+Ctrl+delete. At one point the laptop did load and somehow I was able to access System recovery options and selected startup repair, which I viewed the log prior to restarting and everything completed successfully and although I did restart the computer, I haven't been able to proceed further than the initial loading window or the defaulting black screen that follows.
I've tried running the BIOS setup utility, with the hard disk self test diagnostics, though this failed each time.
Not able to provide any debug logs until I can proceed further. Have the windows 7 back up DVD disc, but not sure if my DVD drive is playing up, as when I push ESC and enter into the boot menu selecting the Atapi cd/DVD rom drive, it only goes to the prior mentioned black screen and remains there long after 5 mins. The disc drive is heard to be working if the disc is within, though nothing results on the screen. I had recalled some difficulty prior to this BSOD with the CD/DVD rom, having decided it was either only a driver or possibly registry error or required itunes reinstall, as afterwards having successfully read a music cd with itunes.
I don't think I have the windows recovery discs or system restore discs, as I tried some I thought were these, but nothing occurred and I figure they must be from when I tested the windows 7 beta or W7RC or such. So only have the legit Windows 7 back up disc (32 & 64 bits), which I was running 32 bit. Only twice has it shown up "Press any key to boot from disc", although there was no response and it doesn't always reach this prompt.
