I had a few BSOD's and was going to do a system restore as I could not even get to post the dmp files up here coz the pc kept restarting with BSOD.
Upon starting the system restore to factory setting i got another BSOD. now the laptop only turns on to a black screen asking for windows 7 install cd which i do not have. can i jus get any windows 7 installation cd to reinstall.
I am trying to fix a Toshiba laptop that failed during a factory restore by the customer and would not complete the restore. I have since tested the ram and hard drive and they are ok. I replaced the faulty cd drive too. The factory restore worked this time, but I keep getting a blue screen during the 'Checking System Performance' stage of the recovery. Windows is installed and all drivers are in as I can see in safe mode but if I try to boot to normal Windows I get the BSOD boot loop and don't know how to bypass it. I have attached a html file of the crash reports from BlueScreenView. The problem appears to be with the ATI display driver, but I am not sure how to update it in safe mode.
I have a windows 7 Advent quantum q200 laptop. Every time I log in I get the BSOD, so just wandering how I can factory restore my laptop, because 1, it's incredibly slow and 2, I don't mind losing personal files.
Additional info: I can log on in safe mode I cannot system restore because I do not have a previous restore point.
I got the smart hdd virus last night, I tried to install malwarebytes but it was blocked by the virus, so I did a system restore from safe mode to 5 days ago. When the restore finished, it booted and said that the restore had not fully worked, but it appeared to have had, with all my files visible again, same with my programs. I then installed malwarebytes and restarted. In the middle of booting windows, it bsod'ed, I did not catch the error message. It does this when I try to boot every time. When it goes into system repair, this message:Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change may have caused the problem. To fix this:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2. Choose your language settings, then click next.
3. Click repair your computer.
If you do not have this disc, please contact your system admin or manufacturer for assistance.Status: 0xc000000e Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessable.I do not have a Win 7 home premium disc, only a win7 pro disc. I am able to make a clean install if required with the pro disc. Will this work with the windows 7 professional disc?
My notebook (HP Envy 14) had been attacked by malware, and after eventually destroying the virus, I've realized that the system files/programs were severely damaged. For instance, when I attempt to open Internet Explorer or Firefox, a window appears, asking me to browse for a program to open the "unrecognized" Internet Explorer with... and this process applies to most of my programs, such as Microsoft Word (in order to open Word, I must indirectly open a word file document, it's impossible to simply click on Word from the start menu). So, that's why I decided to return my notebook to its original state, using the System Restore factory option. However, when I attempt to run system restore (after saving all of my important files onto an external hard disk), an error message comes up: "Error: Recovery Manager cannot run from the hard drive. Recovery Manager must be run using recovery media to perform a Factory Reset." What exactly is "recovery media" and why is this message appearing?
Having a little trouble restoring my computer to factory settings. I dont know why but I cant seem to just do it through the advanced menu because it says i dont have a restore point. Does anyone else know how to Restore my computer totally without having to buy a new operating system, Or even Just using a old one.
My problem is with my hp laptop running windows vista. laptop is hp pavilion dv6225us. OS was upgraded to windows 7 ultimate. was getting messages saying this version of windows 7 was not genuine so i tried to restore my laptop to factory settings. this failed. do not recovery disc; could not get recovery manager by pressing f11 at boot up. now at boot up i receive this message 'remove discs or media; press any key to restart. pressing any key nothing happens. how can i get to recovery partition to restore to factory settings.
I recently had a virus/malware attack on my system, removed it, but the system is damaged (Security center & updates cant be started etc) . I want to restore the comp using the acer feature "restore to factory settings". But I wonder, must I have a Win7-installation CD after the restore?? Because the computer came with preinstalled Windows 7 when I bought it. Keep in mind that it's a factory settings restore not a complete format c (i think) I've done a backup on hardrive "D" of my current system in case of anything going wrong. If a Cd is required, could you tell me another way to format the comp without buying the CD? My security center is damaged, so restore to point doesnt work either. If you got any solutions to how to start security center except setting it to "automatic" in services.msc (Since this doesnt work), please post 'em.

Okay, my computer is very clogged at the moment and I would like to do a complete restore, but I have some files that I need to keep. Is there a way I can do a complete restore but keep some of the files (no external hard drive).
I have a dell Inspiron n7010 and im trying to reformat my computer. I backed up all my personal files into an external hdd. However when I try to restore my laptop to its factory settings, I get stuck. Upon booting up my computer I press f8 to get into the advanced boot menu. From there I select system repair but after selecting that, it always gets stuck at windows is loading files. It doesn't look my computer is loading anything either and it doesn't make sounds as of it were.
For a variety of reasons, I want to do a clean install on my laptop, which is a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7. I don't have any Windows disks (it's 2 years old and I'm fairly sure I wasn't provided any), so I'm trying to do it through advanced boot options. When I hit F8 during startup and select repair, I am shown the screen "Windows is loading files..." and then the system starts as usual, rather than giving me options for a fresh install, which the description (and every set of instructions I've seen) would suggest.
i have changed my hard disk on my dell inspiron 1440 but and i have install windows 7 ultimate x64, but when i activate my windows, my laptop does not boot. its probably about my bios since i have install a new hard disk and i need to restore my factory image
My computer has been slowly deteriorating the last few days. It first ran a system repair every time I started the computer and would then boot to the desktop, then it would just loop through the system repair screen over and over. I am thinking that my last option is to restore the computer to it's factory default since I have everything backed up on an external hard drive.
It was working great and I noticed that it would not recognize an external drive I was going to install some progs from, even though I can go in to Admin Tools and see it there, and then I tried taking it online and it says Windows Explorer not responding all the time, so I think the best bet at this point is to restore it back to out of the box condition.I just started tweaking on it, so it's not like I'll be losing much work.
So im looking to restore my PC to its factory settings so i saw from a video that says all i have to do is go to, Control panel->System and security->Backup And Restore->Recover system settings or your computer->Advanced recovery methods->Reinstall Windows (requires Winodows installation disc) so yeah, will this work? im pretty sure the disc i have that came with my comp is the right disc, on the disc it says"microsoft windows 7 Reinstallation DVD", Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
let me know if this is the right disc and if this is the right way to reset to factory settings that would be super awesome!!!!
1st off, My user name is not a joke. I have a hp G72-B27CL Notebook that was purchased online from aGoodwill auction. The notebook looks brand new & in their listing for the auction they said it just needed a hard drive so I put my WD 500 GB hd in it & attempted to do a system recovery. It went through the whole process & ended with Welcome TO YOUR NEW HP COMPUTER, About a minute later it was showing Restoration Incomplete with the options to Retry or try to find out what the problem was, Well it would only allow me to try again, Which I did (actually 2 more times) Of course same results. Their is no recovery CD'S that came with the computer, However it does have the windows product key # on the back of it. This computer will not let me do anything else except keep trying to recover it. (Which is a total waste of time) Should I erase everything on that hard drive ? It really has nothing I care if I lose or not & how would I go about erasing the hard drive ? The computer I'm talking about wont let me do anything except what I have shared.
And I don't want to put the hard drive in another computer & mess up what ever computer I put it in. This really is a bummer because I felt I was getting a good deal + helping out a organization, So the bottom line is right now I have a pretty laptop that doesn't operate & I am currently down $232.00 + shipping cost. I truly apologize for the length of this post, But as I stated from the start I'm truly lost. Any suggestions & please remember you are replying back to someone that is truly lost, so if at all possible if you choose to respond. Talk in language I understand.
im trying to restore my X51 to its factory state so when the SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTIONS comes up there is no alienrespawn or Dell DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup, Iv gave it a shot from alienrespawn app when i click on restore its says that it will restore to Orginal factory state so restart after that the SYSTEM RECOVERY.

I have an inspiron mini, can't find model # anywhere. Is windows 7. I want to restore to factory defaults but do not have the admin password (owner died).
I have an Acer Aspire 4730z laptop, upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate. Did the upgrade install, but unable to by-pass the eRecovery Management. The 3 options are 1. Restore system from factory default. 2. Restore system from user's backup and 3. Exit. Option 1 and 2 are grayed out. Have disable the D2D Recovery option in the Utility screen. But still unable to by-pass the eRecovery Management. If am unable to by-pass this, my only option is to insert my recovery disk and restore to factory default losing data store on HD.
Once upon a time I set up a Windows PW so I could have a separate acct for guests. Then I spent time couch surfing and had my PC in a box. When I started using it again, I found I couldn't remember the PW anymore, and after a week of trying to recall it, was forced to do a Factory Reset. I lost ALL of my files, installed software other than what came with the system, and of course - because the guest acct had no Admin privs, I couldn't make a back-up before the factory reset... Is there any way to revert the process to a time say... Before I instituted the Windows PW? So not just roll it back prior to my Factory Reset, but ALSO to a further time in the past (reset 1/21/12, but need to revert to 10/01/11)..??
My dell inspirion 1545 keeps going to computer rpair every time i turn on my laptop. It then says it can not find problem and can not fix the problem and then when i hit finish it shuts down. when i try to go to system retore it says Parameter is incorrect and once i hit okay all i have is the windows 7 background picture and cant do anything but shut down comeputer and restart. Then computer repair starts all over again.. i do have the reinstallation disc. My computer is no longer under warranty

his Compaq laptop keeps automatically performing a factory reset. This time it seems when he was installing Service Pack 1, it began the factory restore operation.
I have an HP laptop (model HP G56 Notebook PC) that I am having a manner of problems with. There's definitely something wrong with it, but virus scanners are not picking it up.So I've decided to just reformat it and start from scratch (I've been planning on doing it for a while anyway). The problem is, the "Restore to factory settings" doesn't work properly. I go through the steps, backup etc then it says I need to restart for the process to start (which has worked fine before). The problem is that when the system restarts, the computer just sits at a black screen. Nothing happens, I've tried leaving it for ages but eventually I'm left with no choice but to switch the powerbutton off and then it starts up as normal.I've also tried going directly from the boot-up screen and selecting system restore that way, but again it just takes me to a blank screen until I hit the power button. It's like it's impossible for me to reset the computer.
