I built a Win 7 PC for recording MIDI and everything was going fine until recently the main application that I use has been crashing.I've talked to the manufacturers and they can't figure it out,but I have a feeling it's from some updates I did on Oct 20th 2012. I looked in my restore points and can't find anything earlier than a couple of weeks ago even when I check "show more".

My system seems to randomly freeze once every couple of weeks, but has done so twice today and cost me some work so I thought I'd try and resolve it.The freeze occurs with the open browser becoming unresponsive to mouse or keyboard. I can still activate already open browsers from the hot bar but they're also unresponsive. Mouse still moves and if I have an application open already (today it was the calculator) that will be responsive to both mouse and keyboard, I was able to do sums still. That then becomes unresponsive after a minute or so. Hot keys don't work, like alt-tab or ctrl-alt-delete. Windows start button still opens up to menu, but applications won't open from there. All are unresponsive.Hard reset and Windows boots with no problems, everything working again. [code]

I've had this problem for years, since first upgrading to Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7.
After 2-3 weeks, Internet Explorer starts randomly choosing to disclude sites from its history, before reaching a point where it simply stops recording history. Yes, I HAVE all the settings properly adjusted so that it does not delete history upon exit, has an entire gigabyte of disk space reserved just for history, 400 days set to keep history, and it still ends up being a bi-monthly thing of me having to delete the history.
I've gone through countless sites and forums looking for answers, History function not working in Internet Explorer 8 - Microsoft Answers Why has history not been working in IE 9 for the last few days? - Microsoft Answers IE 9 is not saving my browsing history. - Microsoft Answers
NOTHING works for me, not deleting index.dat and such.

fixing the BSOD. It would occur while browsing internet. Recently I upgraded my RAM to GSkill 8GB (2x4gb) and it seems to occur more frequently. With my previous factory installed ram it would occur only occasionally 2 or 3 times per month.

In the past few days, I have gotten many BSOD's while browsing the web, playing games, or talking to people on Teamspeak 3. Usually the BSOD/crash hits me usually an hour in while I'm doing those things in a session. Before I did get BSOD's and crashes but they were few and spread out. I never responded to them because they happened very sparsely. Now that they are very constant, I need to do some action. I have went into safe mode right now and am typing this on another computer. As for the dmp files, I didn't have the option for the BSOD crashes to save dmp files but now that that is enabled, I do have one dmp file that I can share.
Also I have noticed that sometimes that when the computer crashes, the sound becomes very distorted, the screen tears/fuzzes into a static-like image and then it just restarts. I either get this kind of crash or just a simple BSOD. It's very strange. Apparently these are considered BSODs as well according to bluescreenview, they just dont have the bluescreen. Interesting..
Specs:
OS- Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
GPU- AMD Radeon 6870
Mobo- ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
RAM- G-Skill Ripjaw series 4 GB
CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
PSU- Corsair 650 Watt
Hard Drive- WD 1 TB SATA
Things that I have done but to no avail:
- Deleted MSI Afterburner
-Deleted Daemon Tools
-Completed a Memtest86 on my RAM. No errors even after 10 passes.
-Took out the RAM sticks, cleaned and then put back in their sockets.
-Cleaned the computer for dust
-Used Ccleaner to scan for problems and junk.
-Full scan of Malwarebytes. Caught 7 things but still nothing changes.
-Done an SFC /scannow scan
-Downloaded all the major Windows 7 updates.
-chkdsk scan.
Temperatures vary but they tend to stay normal. CPU average temperature is around 40 C idle. GPU Temperature is about 40C idle, 50C viewing videos, and and may hit to around 60-65 C while gaming. Fan speed on 55%. Temperatures when computer is idle on the desktop. Screenshots included below: The first bluescreen after I enabled the computer to allow dump files. More examples in the Mediafire list. I have some of the txt and DMP files but I cannot find an "include file" option here: I just upload them on Mediafire. Here are those links. [URLs]

I had 19 crashes in the past 4 month.A computer is 13 month old. The first BSODs happened on 27/12/2011. The exact statistics:
0x1A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT - happened 10 times (the 5 most recent crashes were 0x1A)
0x24 NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM - 4 times (the most recent happened 3 weeks ago)
0xE4 WORKER_INVALID - 3 times (the most recent happened a month ago)
0x19 BAD_POOL_HEADER - 1 time (2 weeks ago)
0x9F DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE - 1 time (3 month ago)
I'm attaching 3 most recent dump analyses.Besides BSOD, I'm also seeing event 11 in the event log, with messages like "The driver detected a controller error on DeviceHarddisk3DR3". Harddisk3 is likely to be a WD Passport drive plugged into USB 3.0 port. The drive is used for Acronis backup.Interestingly, the event 11 started to happen on 19/12/2011 (shortly before the first BSOD).
1) I'm ruling out RAM issues. Few weeks ago I bought a brand new 4x4GB kit and replace the old RAM modules. The problem still continued.
2) I upgraded motherboard's BIOS, downloaded and installed all the recent drives from ASUS site, installed the latest AMD Radeon drivers. All with little help.
3) chkdsk didn't report any errors.
4) I used Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 before, and upgraded to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 in March. This upgrade had little effect on BSODs.
5) I'm also using Acronis True Image Home 2011.
6) System configuration:
CPU: Intel i7-2600 (stock clock)
Mainboard: Asus P8P67 LE
RAM: Corsair 4x4GB kit CML16GX3M4A1600C9B at XMP speed (G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL before that)
GPU: Fanless Gigabyte Radeon HD 5750
SSD: G.Skill Phoenix PRO 120GB as OS drive
SSD: Intel 520 120GB SSD as data drive (this was added recently - BSOD happened before this SSD was installed)
Discrete NIC: Intel Gigabit CT Desktop
Discrete COM port: MANHATTAN Serial PCI Express Card
PSU: Seasonic X-650
UPS: APC Smart-UPS 750 VA (SMT750I)
OS: Windows 7 64-bit SP1
Interestingly BSODs often happen at night, when the load is minimal. So I don't think it happens due to overheating. My prime suspects are: motherboard, fanless GPU, Phoenix Pro SDD, Acronis.

So, about 2 weeks ago I got an email from my ISP that said they were switching from CA internet security to McAfee. I removed CA and installed McAfee. Two days later, my PC restarted while I was watching a movie. No BSOD, no warning, just a restart. When it comes back up I get the "Windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown" message. It has done it randomly ever since. I can be surfing the web or playing a game or watching a movie. It doesnt happen during any specific activity. I can have several things running or just one thing.I dont get it.So, since I despise McAfee anyway, I uninstalled it and got AVG for now. But, about 20 minutes after I did that, it restarted again. I dont get it. I read the post instructions and did what it said to do, hopefully correctly. So, hopefully someone can tell me what the deal is and how to fix it. Ive never had any issues out of this PC that I didnt cause and fix right away until I switched antivirus programs. [code]

I just bought an ASUS Zenbook UX32A, it has an SSD 32 and SATA 500, I deleted the recovery and did a clean install of Windows 7 on the SSD (originally win was on the SATA) and I uploaded all the drivers and did some windows updates. the laptop will randomly shutdown once a week or every two weeks, and the boot order will get switched to the SATA. Obviously i will get an error "windows cant boot" etc. I have to manually go in bios and switch it back to the SSD.I scanned the computer with Avast and did the boot scanner, 100% clean

so my girlfriends laptop yesterday had a windows update. after it reboted, it would come to the windows boot manager screen saying 0xc00000e9, a unexpected i/o error. apperantly she dropped it a few weeks ago. but i wasnt sure that had anything to do with it. so i went and checked and removed and rehooked up all the drives and hdd. and i noticed one of the ram chips wasnt locked in anymore. so i relocked that too. and to no avail. i cant get into safe mode, or anything else. i made a recovery disk with my laptop, running 7 ultimate 64 bit. i get it to load up to the point where it says chose your country ( for the keyboard i guess) and it just sits there with a mouse pointer on the screen and nothing else. for about 20 mins i let it sit and nothing happened. i rean a seagate hdd diag tool. and that wouldnt run past 2% without errors. so i am not sure at all what to do. or what real damage is done to the HDD, and since i cant get into checkdisk i cant find out either.

Recently after I tried to add another cooling fan into my NZXT phandom case my pc would turn on and freeze. Sometimes before the windows logo even comes on my mouse and keyboard lights would turn off. I have since disconnected the extra cooling fan but the problem did not go away. I have checked my temperatures and they are not very high. My only thought on this problem is that when I also tried to add a 2nd extra fan (which did not fit well with its clamps due to the graphics card being right below the location) onto my north bridge which at some time had a heat problem as all with this motherboard do but was fixed with a cooler. In trying to add the 2nd fan I might have moved the cooler slightly and messed up the thermal paste connection. However I am not completely sure because my temperatures seem normal and are not in the high range. The only problems or hints I can see are the freezing after several minutes after startup, not reaching the windows logo at all, and my mouse and keyboard lights not turning on when the pc does not reach windows logo before being a black screen.

I have come over to the UK to visit family and my work laptop cannot browse for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Chat clients all work without issue, Dropbox doesn't have a problem. The Cisco VPN client connects happily when it needs to. Just the browsers stop being able to resolve IP addresses.I am connected to wireless correctly, I get an IP (192.168.0.6) from the router (192.168.0.1). DHCP provides the DNS without issue. I can ping the router and the ISP DNS servers...but still no joy.I managed to get some joy when running ipconfig /flushdns everytime it stopped. But this is inconsistent.Firefox, IE and Chrome all work for a couple of minutes after a reboot and then just stop being able to browse. As I said, when it stops, I can still ping everything listed above comfortably..but no host names resolve. My Android phone connects seemlessly and doesn't drop out. I am typing from my parents laptop at the moment..no issues, my brothers laptop, no problems.
Every device seems to work without issue except my work laptop, which I use wirelessly at home, in hotels, starbucks...you name it, I can use it no problem.I have removed the connection and re-added.I have connected via standard WPA2 key and last night tried via WPS. Each time, the laptop connects without issue, all of my messengers connect...2 minutes into browsing the web...DNS stops resolving. I even added Google DNS servers and set a manual IP...same issue each time.I found the Winsock Fix for Windows 7, applied it and restarted. So far so good...obviously, I will come back if it fails again

This has been baffling me for at least a month now, my PC will randomly start to slow down after a few hours (2-4) of being used. This began to happen randomly and after no new software or updates where installed. So far I have tried to take off all my overclocks, run a CPU test for 24hours (stable) and all the defrags and disk cleanups that I could be bothered to run. Worst thing is this started happening a day before I was going to make a restore point. All my system info is on my profile.
EDIT: I forgot to mention where the slowdowns occur, they include programs taking a good 5 seconds to open and more confusingly sites take a good 30-40 seconds to load when shortly after boot it takes less than a second.I have checked my network usage and system resource usage and both are within their normal ranges.

For the past couple of days my computer has been freezing every time I open a new program or go to click on something. Using itunes is especially problematic because i will be listening to music and every thirty seconds the music will stop and continue, etc. I use Avast! free for protection and I have done every scan without them finding a virus, however they do get a couple of files they cannot scan and each time they are different files. I am not very tech savvy so I have no clue how to go about searching for the fix, however while searching through google i did find a lot of people had this problem with windows xp.
I own a Sony Vaio VPCEG32FX/W and have 142 GB used memory.
Programs i have installed are Photoshop CS5, Finale Notepad, Itunes, Last.fm, Firefox, Windows Live Messenger, The Sims 3, Avast!, Avidemux 2.5, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Winrar, and VLC mediaplayer

I have an Asus G50vt-x5 laptop (with windows 7 now, originally had vista), and my old battery was losing charge so quickly. So, i got a new one. I did everything you were supposed to, charged it up, discharged it, charged it again, etc.For some reason, i can just be playing or doing things on my laptop, and it'll randomly just lose ALL power. For example, i was playing a video game the other day and was at roughly 65% battery, and suddenly the computer just instantly died. And i don't know if any of you have seen an asus, but there is a little light on the panel with the power button for like a "quick start", and that light is ALWAYS on. but when the laptop died it wasn't. Which i take it means absolutely no power was going to the laptop.

I'm running Win7 on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop.Recently the system has been freezing occasionally. But the interesting thing is that it still responds a few minutes after the freeze. For example, the display dims itself after a few inactive minutes according to the power plan, and clicking a button restores the brightness. After a few minutes it's totally unresponsive. The fan keeps spinning all the time. It seems that the freeze happens when there is some excessive load on the system, but nothing that it hasn't endured before.I checked the temperatures with CPUID Monitor. Nothing irregular happens at the moment of freeze.

Certainly when the computer tells me to reboot, I reboot...other then that I really just put it to sleep at the end of the night. I realized today that I hadn't rebooted the computer in quiet sometime, Over a week, in fact. So I guess that's the question: How often, if ever is it "good housekeeping" to reboot the computer?
My system:
i7-3770k
128gb SSD
500gb HD
gigabyte 7970 gh edition
32 gb ram(I know...it's stupid over kill)

My laptop has been having some issues lately but I cannot figure out what is wrong with it. I have ran anti-virus and malware checks but both have come back negative. The main issue is whenever a video is playing or something using flash is running, it goes very slow. Most recently, I've been trying to watch a movie that is on my HD, not online and every couple minutes it kinda freezes but either plays the audio very slow or repeats one second of it on loop while the video is frozen. Another issue I've had is with flash games online, those are pretty much unplayable and yes I've cleared all cache, cookies, browser history and am still having the issue. So it appears most of my issues are video related but I'm not sure how to check what's wrong with it.

When I'm next to the room where the router is, the WiFi connection sometimes just drops. I'd say that I can surf something like 2-3 minutes and then all of sudden the WiFi connection drops, and the WiFi tray icon says that I have a limited connection. Though the signal quality is 4, and sometimes even 5 (which is maximum). And then it takes like 15-20 seconds to get everything back to normal again. But then again.. when I was in the same room as my router, actually on the same desk as the router, I didn't have any problems with WiFi dropping - I think I'll test later tonight again, if there's really a difference if I sit basically next to the router and then when I go to the other room, the connection starts dropping every once in a while (and remember, I still have an excellent signal quality). And I'll add just in case that I haven't had any problems with wired connection. And in our household we've got one laptop more, and this one hasn't had any problems with WiFi dropping. So.. it must be something with my laptop.. I guess.
- WiFi network card: Atheros Communications AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter
According to device manager:
Driver date: 3.10.2011
Driver version: 9.2.0.458
- Second network card (for wired connection, I guess): Attansic (Now owned by Atheros) AR8161 Gigabit Ethernet
According to device manager:
Driver date: 16.01.2012
Driver version: 2.0.12.13
- OS: Windows 7 64 bit
- Router: SpeedTouch 780WL - Software release: 7.4.4.7
- Anti-virus: McAfee Internet Security | Can't tell you the exact version, because it has different versions for different things. For example SecurityCenter has v11.0 and VirusScan has v15.0. Just to add that I've heard that some people have had problems with WiFi, and it has been anti-virus' fault. Well.. I'm not planning to keep McAfee, I'll get rid of it soon. But I think it might help if I mention the anti-virus program too.

I have 4 USB memory sticks I use on a regular basis, a 4, a 16, a 32 and a 64 GB.This problem only happens with the 64 GB stick, and only on one of my several computers. Most of the time when I insert it, windows does not automatically assign it a drive letter. I have to into the computer management --> Disk management section and manually assign it a drive letter. Occasionally however when it is inserted, windows assigns it a drive letter just fine. This only happens on one of my laptops. It works fine of all of my other computers and every other computer I have stuck it in

when i'm on my computer, sometimes it just crashes and turns white or gray. the last time this happened, i had a bluetooth adapter (asus usb-bt211) plugged in from earlier in the day. i unplugged it and the screen immediately turned pitch black, presumably off.when this happens, i have absolutely no control over my computer. i cant open task manager or ctrl +alt+delete. i've searched this and so far i've only gotten that its a ram problem, but i don't think it is in my case. i say this because i have 8gb and i constantly have task manager open and i've never seen over 50% used (except when on a game or using something like a screen recorder, and it has never crashed while doing those things)the weird thing is.. and this may just be a coincidence, but Internet has been open every time it has crashed (10+ times).
