View 4 Replies View RelatedI teach a variety of basic IST courses at a local college. I'd like to be able to familiarize my students with more than the "canned info" available in the text. Is there a Windows 7 shell program (for want of a better term) that would enable me to perform (simulated) Control Panel functions? The school IT Department has (for obvious reasons) restricted student permissions to most system features. However, if I were able to demonstrate tasks/functions of this type I'd be able to provide students with some "real world" knowledge that they could apply to their own PCs.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHope someone can help me! As a UK student I can from today purchase a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium [Upgrade] or Windows 7 Professional [Upgrade] 32/64-bit for £30. This is a fantastic offer and one which I am hoping to take advantage of.
I have a laptop that came pre installed with Vista Business (there is a legitimate serial stuck to the base of the machine) but after months of frustration with the OS I wiped it and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit RC1, which I am delighted with.
The problem I now have is, if I purchase Windows 7 Pro Upgrade will I be able to install it? The website gives the option of a direct download for £30 or a direct download plus something called a "Disk Kit" for £39. If I have to do a clean install anyway, will it matter that I'm not running Vista or XP? Do I need the disk kit or does the download come in the form of an ISO which burns to DVD like the RC1?
i was wondering if anyone knows or have an idea when Windows 7 will be available on the EPP or Employee Purchase Programme?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering which network to purchase so that I don't have driver issues with win 7.
Anyone know a good card?
I had Vista installed, and ordered the Windows 7 upgrade. Meantime, I installed Windows 7 RC, which I got off the net. I also activated this copy. Now I need to know how to go from this RC version to my purchased version in October. Go back to Vista and then install the purchased upgrade? Or is there a way around that?

I have a licensed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 professional now, because I want Remote desktop capabilities. I know you can purchase an easy upgrade from microsoft for 90 bucks and just enter the key they provide you.
Can I purchase upgrade media from say, ebay for cheaper and do the same thing with that code, rather than doing an entire install?
I got a BSOD during a credit card purchase and it was right after I finished entering all the information and then clicked checkout or whatever. As soon as the page loaded saying "Processing order...", about 3 seconds later it just crashed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIdk if I can do this or not, but I am looking to purchase an ISO of a Windows 7 Home Premium OEM x64. It needs to have all the updates integrated in it, along with IE9 and all that good stuff. I format and reinstall Windows numerous times a day and this disc would do me wonders. I have tried doing it myself with RT Lite or whatever it was but couldn't figure it out and didn't have the time nor patience to constantly reinstall Windows to make sure it was working. If this is in the wrong section, I apologize and just let me know where I need to go! If purchasing this stuff is not allowed feel free to simply delete this thread.

I know my way around the computer on an intermediate level but cannot find any strange exe files. I have nortons and it did not stop this download. I think my files are on the computer since 300GB is still being used on my harddrive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently trying to decide on the best remote support software to purchase for a 50+ workstation business. I have experimented with Real VNC and TeamViewer, and whilst they are quite comparable I noticed that TeamViewer has a feature called "Seamless Windows". I will be providing remote support to local users, and several interstate branches - therefore the software that I decide on must accommodate a wide diversity of geographical locations.I was also looking at a product called GoverLAN, but it seems to me that GoverLAN only works on a single LAN and can't be used over a WAN in a similar way to both RealVNC & TeamViewer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy daughter's Sony VAIO PCG-71911M running windows 7 is suffering from the BSOD within seconds of entering her windows password. The blue screen is all gibberish to me but Bad_Pool_Header appears as the error at the top of the screen on most occassions.
I am able to boot using Safe Mode and Networking and the laptop appears to be very stable when this option is selected.
Through Safe Mode I have attempted system restores which allow me to get past the windows password stage on a normal boot. But I then get error messages and network connectivity is unavailable when i then reboot I end up with the BSOD issue again.
I was working on an email Saturday when my Sony Vaio stopped working & flipped over to the black & white Vaio screen. Since then, I've been able to reboot it once, but it flips right back over to the Vaio screen. At one point, I was able to get to the Advanced Boot Options menu by hitting F8. I tried to restore to the last known good configuration. It got to the Windows logo screen, then went back to the Vaio screen, then went to the "Operating System could not be found" screen. The computer has a One Touch Web Access Without Booting Up feature.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi want windows 7 32 bit ultimate edition drivers - wireless, camera, bluetooth, lan?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am writing this right now because after the last BSOD it said "Windows can not start" and I had to restore to when it was previously working. So up until that point this is what I did.Since working with computers almost my entire life I know most BSOD are due to either bad memory, drivers, or bios. I started there and updated my nvidea drivers but it happened again. I moved to the motherboard bios.I did find a newer one on there and using ASUS tool I flashed the BIOS. Same thing still happened. Next I ran memtestx86 for 8 hours and it returned no errors. At this point I just decided to look for newest drivers for everything. One thing that happened consistently was that my wireless USB adapter from Cisco had to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work. I went there first, reinstalled the drivers but still the same thing. I thought maybe it was my hard drive. I downloaded Seagates Utility tool and ran all the tests and they all passed fine. I ran defrag just for good measure along with windows version of the mem test and that passed as well. I still continued to get the BSOD and I have to tell you I'm irritated and also stumped.
Next I moved onto software. I have been using AVG free for years but I know virus programs do some crazy stuff and I got rid of that. Turned on windows defender. I decided that since the wireless adapter didn't work after these crashes maybe lets just go to a direct wired connection. I disconnected the cisco wireless adapter and I'm just using a direct connect right to my router. These come at random times.. nothing I do can trigger it. It can stay on for days and not crash and then there are times it can be up for 10 min and crash. Some of you might notice that in the CPU-Z screenshots I had to take the screenshot with the error underneath. Every time I chose either of the two slots it crashed the program.I have not done anything internally besides add some neon to my computer which does not connect to the board at all.I have seen IRQL blue screen once so I even went as far to go into the power settings for windows and make sure the usb and everything never went into any kind of "standby" mode.
I believe this is still under warranty and I would like to go in with good information if I need to challenge and get new hardware if that's what it is.On a side note I have not touched the memory physically. I know some suggestions were to reseed the memory and chip but In my opinion something that has been working for months that never moves off my desk and is never basically touched besides the power button shouldn't mean something just came loose after 4 months of owning it.Again that's just my opinion. I have removed AVG, Ad-Aware, Some webcam motion detector software (which was a joke) and the only thing that was really installed was Skyrim.

This started happening last night while i was playing Borderlands 2, it has happened at idle, playing just about any game in my library, during downloads and just browsing the web. I changed all of my accessible drivers, and it continued to happen, so i moved all of my personal files onto my external HDD. I re installed windows on my SSD (did not reformat) and reformatted my HDD. I re installed my drivers, re-enabled SLI and it ran fine for about an hour, just downloading WoW, and then happened again twice.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI started getting BSOD two weeks ago. As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.

Windows will sometimes load to the desktop and I am able to watch video, run windows score, check email, etc before it will BSOD. Other times, it will BSOD before getting to the windows login screen. When I use safe mode, it logs in and stays there - no BSOD.I have tried removing all extra hardware in the machine, however this has had no affect.
