i own a dell precision 360. i recently upgraded to windows 7 and i noticed that my Internet videos are streaming with good audio but not good video. meaning that the audio goes on without stopping while the video is having some hiccups.

.AVI .MKV .MPG .MPE .MP4 .WMV
There are other types as well.I'd very much like to perform some simple editing on these files. The most common editing operation is to extract or "split" a large file into several smaller component files. In other words, each of thse large files contain several small files - all strung together.For example, there may be 4 or 5 video clips in each file. Instead of creating one file for each "clip", the person who created these files just concatenated them all together in one file.So, I'd like to "split" each of these clips out of the single file and create a number of separate files - one for each clip.In addition, I would very much like to be able to convert files of one type to another type.I don't know a lot about the attributes of the various file types. I've read about them in Wikipedia and so I know a lttle about the reasons these file types were created and what the various differences are among them. The main reason that I'd like to convert most of these files to a single file type is that I consider it kind of sloppy to leave these files in there original file types.I have used the app Irfanview in the past to perform similar conversions on "still" files such as .JPEG or .GIF files.
1) How easy or difficult is it to convert video files from one type to another?
2) Should I expect to find one app that can do both editing and conversions? Or should I expect to get several different apps - some to convert files and some to edit files?
When playing a online video it starts, runa a few seconds, then stops, then after a few seconds starts again. Goes on till video is done.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a ACER aspire REVO loaded with the latest WIN 7 and updated drivers. It freezes randomdly when watching internet video from any source (all the way from Netflix, to you tube or private sites). When freezed it doies not respond to anything! Monitoring shows CPU with zero activity. Sometimes I can only move the mouse, but it does not respond to any click. I freezes anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes (while having crazy sound) but then it continues running normally, excuting the clicks done while frozen. It happens very often.It does not happend when playing video fron hard drive, nor whith any other situation; only when playing streaming video. Video is well buffered.

View 1 Replies View RelatedStarting about a month ago, after six to seven months of my laptop working fine, I've been getting video and audio stuttering whenever gaming or watching most HD videos and after messing around with my drivers I realized that whenever my Realtek HD Audio drivers are disabled my video runs flawlessly, but when enabled both video and audio stutter. I'm using a Sony VAIO laptop so I'm assuming that the sound card isn't easily replaceable. I've tried using the newest drivers straight from Realtek's website and also the outdated driver provided by Sony's website, both of which result in the same stuttering. Sony has also replaced the motherboard once and it did not resolve the issue.I'm currently running Windows 7 with 6gb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 330M graphics card.
View 16 Replies View Relatedi decided to use a 32" plasma vizio tv for my monitor. connected it through hdmi to my nvidia 460 gtx graphics card. image was terrible, sound did not work for anything but video games (unless i ran the video game then turned on something else like music or a movie), the sound does not work causing whatever program being used to crash. so i said to myself, picture isn't great enough for the sound issue and i disconnected the tv and returned to my old monitor using a vga cable with dvi converter for the graphics card.since this terrible decision i've had a recurring issue with my sound not initializing when trying to play music, movies, or games. also, after the computer is on for some time, all audio crashes completely, and nothing can be done but a restart to get it working... kind of.
1) my system starts up and all system sounds work great! then i try to play music on windows media player... it loads a song continuously but never plays... so i turn it off and the window closes but the process remains open in task manager forcing me to end its process. to get sound to work again i have to go to Internet.com and play a video (which sometimes fails because of the same issue).2) wmp aside, another issue is games not starting up because of sound failure. for instance, counter-strike source will load, reach the splash screen of the main menu and will crash... the splash will remain visible with a loading sign on the bottom right corner. alt-tabbing doesn't work, hitting the windows button doesn't work... have to end-process . and again i have to go to Internet and run a video to get my sound working again.
3) third and most irritating and unique issue is with netflix and silverlight. when i try to stream a movie on netflix, silverlight loads all parameters until actually playing the movie, where it freezes because again the sound doesn't initialize. i've found an odd work-around to this issue however. that is to play a Internet video and then play a netflix stream movie, in which case it works fine and i can close Internet and continue watching the movie. this method also sometimes works with wmp and video games also.4) the core issue is this. after some time, my audio completely goes away. nothing brings it back; no Internet work-around or launching a game. when this happens, even windows sounds are completely dead. trying to raise or lower volume through volume control in the taskbar causes the volume control to freeze on screen, forcing me to end task the sndvol.exe process to get rid of it.
basically i think the problem lies in my video cards audio drivers interfering with windows audio drivers. now to remedy the situation i went to device manager and disabled all nvidia high definition audio drivers... this didn't help. i also resorted to uninstalling my sound card and removing the card itself from my system, which also did nothing. i am completely at my wits end. can't think of anything else to do, but postspecs:nvidia nforce 680i sli motherboardintel core 2 duo processor at 2.4ghz4ghz of corsair xms 2 ram ddr2 1088 mhz (i think)nvidia geforce gtx460 sc 1024mb750 watt powercreative labs x-fi fatality series gaming sound card (removed this)i now use the logitech g35 usb headset (good enough)running windows 7 ultimate
I have a standard 3.5mm output jack on the back of my motherboard,whenever I change the jack, e.g. take speakers out, plug headphones in, the sound stops, usually when i'm using itunes, or bbc iplayer. Sometimes this can crash microsoft messenger as well.I have to restart the application for the sound to work again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus X58 motherboard, a pair of ATI 5850 video cards, and a pair of monitors running DVI into the primary 5850 (extended desktop). When I am not running crossfire, my device manager sees 2 5850 cards as does the catalyst control center. I can select "enable crossfire" from the control center; however, when I did that my computer became unresponsive and I had to reboot. When I reboot the computer and click on the performance tab of the catalyst control center, the only option is "AMD Overdrive", the crossfire option is no longer there. The device manager only sees one card. The only way I can get my computer to recognize both cards again is to remove the Xfire cable from the 2 video cards.

The monitor screen will randomly go black (a small grey window appears in the top-right corner as it tries switching between Analog mode and Digital mode, but the rest of the screen is completely black) and the sound from my speakers will completely cut out. When it happens, the computer won't respond to any keyboard or mouse commands, so I have no choice but to manually hold down the power button to shut it off, wait a few minutes, and restart it.
It seems to happen randomly, regardless of what I'm doing. Sometimes it happens after an hour, while I'm in the middle of playing a game or browsing the internet, sometimes it happens within 5 minutes of turning on the PC, while the system is idle. It started a month ago, and the attacks have occurred more frequently as time goes on. Now, it seems to happen within twenty minutes of start up, whereas before I could go an entire day without it happening.
My specifications are as follows:

I also have a wireless network card, and a CD/DVD drive, but I don't know their details. If it's important and anyone requests, I can find out. All the components were bought new in February 2011, except for the hard drive and the RAM. Those are brand new, bought two days ago. (I purchased them to stop some Blue Screens of Death that also started occurring a month ago, caused by "faulty memory/hardware failure". The BSODs have stopped since I replaced the hard drive and the RAM, but the random video/audio loss hasn't stopped.)
I buy another headset and its the same problem and when i plug the usb headset in the audio stops working. I know nothing wrong with the headset because i heal popping noises through the headset when i restart the computer with them on. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Outlook 2010 with about 5 separate POP 3 accounts. I archive regularly and compact after archiving. After a lot of trouble cloning a new C drive to an SSD, Outlook, along with a lot of other software, began acting strangely. Everything has pretty much been resolved except for the Outlook problem.
For no reason I can isolate, Outlook will suddenly close, giving the message that it had to close and it will now try to retrieve my data. It does so, unless I was in the middle of composing an email - that will be gone! Sometimes, instead of closing, it freezes and says application not responding.
I checked the disk for errors using scan now and it's fine. I've run memtest and it's fine. I've run in safe mode and it just shut down with no comments. In working my way through suggestions on this board, I just ran Sysinternals Process Explorer until the error occurred and went back to normal. In looking at Process Explorer, I'm afraid the actual data is overwhelming to me. However, I'll attach everything I have.

i'm using windows 7 32-bit, i7 processor, 4gb ram, onboard audio (with realtek) and a geforce gt220 video card.when i play a video the audio is always faster than the video. i use umplayer, so fortunately i can use the plus or minus keys to sync everything up. however on Internet or other online videos it's almost always out of sync, as well as when i watch something streamed from my pc to my xbox using windows media center. i'm thinking it's either a windows 7 problem or a hardware problem. i've googled it and found nothing similar with a solution.oh, and i use avira anti-virus, not norton or mcafee.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently desc covered that besides VLC on my laptop all the other video player are not able to work properly (meaning,, Windows Media Player 12, Cyberlink PowerDVD12 and WMPC are able to play only the audio, but not the video, just black screen),, BUT with VLC is no problem playing any video format!! The thing is that I didn't have this problem previously,, all my video players were able to play all the same video files, which they can't now! View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently, within the past couple of weeks or so, whenever I play a video (avi, wmv, mp4) in Media Player (or VLC) the the video and audio is out of sync. It's not out by much, but it is clearly noticeable. Oddly, if I play them in Media Player Classic they appear to be in sync (or as near as).I know for a fact that these videos used to play fine, so it's not a problem with the files themselves. I haven't knowingly downloaded any codecs or anything else that may have caused this, and I've scanned extensively for viruses and spyware.I want to reiterate that up until a while ago the videos played fine, so it's not a spec problem. View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought an Nvidia 570gtx and I am able to have both audio and sound to play on my TV as a second monitor. However to do this I have to go into windows 7 screen resolution screen and duplicate the displays though ones 1900x1200 and the Tv is 1920x1080 causing the PC screen to look funky but I can live with it to launch the games.I than have to go into the sound properties and set the default for the system to the HDMI cable and I can play my games on the TV like I want. (about 30 feet away)When done I have to come back and undue each setting to get control back to my PC.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWith Windows XP SP3 I was able to transmit audio which was digital and sometimes multi-channel to my Denon reciever through the HDMI output on my motherboard; I was also able to simultaneoulsy display my computer through that same HDMI connection through my Denon reciever and on to my my Toshibe LCD TV.But when I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit the HDMI audio was very limited (only 16 bit 2-channel @ 48,000 Hz) and can only select it when the reciever is on (which makes sense, but it's anoying to have to go into sound properties and switch to HDMI if I started the computer before the reciever, I hate technology trying to pretend it knows what I want it to do, it should just be able to do what it's told.) Then, when I turn on the TV this message comes up (which I would see when I was using XP but it didn't change anything)An HDMI-to-DVI display connection has been detected. In order to hear audio on your HDMI based TV or display, you will need to have a seperate audio conecction from you computer sound outputs to your TV or audio equipment.However I'm not using the DVI at all I just want to use the HDMI into HDMI because that's the way it's supposed to work because HDMI is supposed to handle both and I shouldn't need to use another cord when I'm already using one that does both.And so then my sound no longer works but my computer shows on my TV.Whoopdee doo! why can't I have both. HDMI is supposed to support both and when computer/motherboard/OS manufacturers put these technologies on computers you'd think they should commit to applying them flawlessly the way they were intended to be used.I understand this may be a driver issue and I've tried many combinations of the newest & the just HDMI Realtek Driver as well as the Gigabyte mother board drivers and the appropriate ATI/Catalyst driver/downloads.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been running Vista 64 sp1 about a year, and using my xbox 360 as an media center extender, hard wired. Its been mainly for pictures and music as we all know it's picky when it comes to video. It's been swell, no hickups at all. All this time, I've had a hauppage HVR4000 installed but not ever in use. Since all i have is analouge cable for TV-signal, I didn't have much use for it anyway, as WMC as of sp1 didn't support this type of signal.
A few weeks back I discovered TVPack2008, and suddenly realized I could put my HVR4000 to some good use. Since this update was OEM only, I had to find a rouge copy of the installer. Voila, analouge cable TV-playback on my 'puter.
Here my sorrows start:
Streaming to MCE (360) now only produced video or audio errors, saying I had to restart the extender. Pictures could still be viewed, but all video/audio nomatter what filetype, would no longer work.
So in my last desperate effort to get it to work again, I installed win 7 64, and was hoping for a change of luck. Same symptoms, different error message: "MCE cannot find the file you are trying to play". Pictures can still be viewed as before. The files are stored in default folders, and they are not corrupted. Streaming to dashboard works fine, both audio and video.
Also the "Play To"-functionality is not working, giving me error codes 0X80040369, UPnP-error 705, saying "cannot control the device".
What I've tried so far without luck:
-Updating firware on my D-link N router
-wiping the Xbox 360 harddrive and running intial setup
-opening up required ports on firewall (although I've read this doesn't do anything for devices on the same network)
-uninstalling hauppage drivers when using vista64 sp1.
My win 7 install is clean, no codec packs or funny stuff.
Anyone experiencing similar things? Or better, could give me some pointers to how to fix it?
I have a nvidia gt 9600 video card, and want to dual monitor to my large screen tv to use media center to watch movies, go online, etc. The card has 2 dvi outs, one goes to my primary monitor, the other I have a dvi>hdmi cable>tv set up.
I know I do not get sound out of this video card, but can someone show me the proper card that I can get both audio and video out with using my hdmi cable to do this? The geeks at Best Buy seemed baffled when I asked them about a video card, and using just the hdmi cable to do what I wanted.....I do not want to run multiple cables, etc...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was watching a video and my laptop HP Pavilion G6-1b54ca fell asleep and logged out. Once I logged back in everything was working fine except there was no audio. I've tried doing a system restore, uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and reinstalling it, disabling and enabling it, restarting, running antivirus, and ensuring everything is updated on my laptop. Nothing is working, there is no audio from my built in speakers at all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP-DV6-6050 laptop, bought it last august. It was running fine up until a month or two ago. I don't recall what I did but I think it was the time I installed Dragon Age: Origins. Either way, I noticed some problems since then. Firstly it became very slow...even deleting files took longer than usual even of size 18 bytes.Programs and folder would take time to launch.
Secondly, which is a big headache, audio and video files now get stuck every 3-5 seconds while playing them. It is there evn in VLC player. I tried defragging, some kind of a memory test through diagnostic startup, and even returned the system to factory settings. Sometimes it seems to get better.. but only for a while. Also, the graphic card switching mechanism seems to be a bit buggy. When I plug in the power source, the dialog box to switch the graphic card doesn't appear.

I also run Dual Monitors, the monitors are the exact same model (which i do not have with me currently and don't think would matter, if needed i can get it)

Now for the problem...
I have been using Windows 7 64-bit without a single problem on this machine since Windows 7 was released. Ever since then I have had no problems doing, well really anything until about 2 weeks ago. I usually play video games on my main screen whilst watching movies/streaming tv on the 2nd screen. The stuttering is constant when watching streaming videos in full screen mode, even when doing absolutely nothing else on my computer. If the video is not in full screen mode it plays fine. If I pop the streaming video out of the browser and F11 it to make it full screen that way it does not stutter at all this way either. I do not believe it to be a bandwidth/internet connection issue though as I also encounter problems when watching movies from my hard drive. The movies from hard drive issue is not exactly the same though. When watching a movie from my hard drive and playing a game the audio and video will skip about half a second every 4-5 seconds instead of a constant stutter. However if I am not playing a game or doing anything else on my computer the videos will play fine. I have updated my video card drivers and the audio drivers as well as bios on my computer but am still having the same issue.
