Can't Resize Window Or Use Aero Snap With Explorer
Jun 1, 2012I was messing around with some custom themes (I know, I know, but I'm pretty familiar with the process and I try to take extra precautions) and for what seems like no reason, I cannot resize Explorer (not IE, the actual file explorer) windows and if I attempt to use Aero Snap, absolutely nothing happens--I can maximize, minimize, etc. though. However, if I use any other program, I can resize and I can do snap, so obviously the problem is only with Windows Explorer. Another weird issue (besides System Restore not doing anything) is that I even installed another custom theme because I figure that whatever files it gave me would probably fix up the explorer issue--and now the theme is installed but I still can't resize or use snap on Explorer.

But this also disables the [winkey] + [arrow key] shortcut that I do like to use.I wonder if there is a way to ony disable the snap function when dragging / rezising window and keep the [winkey] + [arrow key] functionality enabled?I dont even know how to search this. um."disable snap enable keyboard shortcuts" search engine goes like What?!?

Nov 7, 2009I'm running an original Windows 7 (I preordered it) and I've updated all graphic drivers, but whenever I want to close a window, Windows Aero lags for a quick second and closes the window, however whenever I minimize a window, it closes down nicely with the effect. Why is this occurring?

I've updated everything, it gets annoying when it lags when it closes.

I think it acts like a virus and is spreading...What's up with this??? Does anyone know...? It has kept me from opening iTunes so I can't work with my iPad anymore. Oct 14, 2011I downloaded and installed Ubuntu and sectioned off a part of my hard drive for it. I intended to have it set up to run both windows 7 and linux together and let me choose which boot disk I wanted to use at start up. Ubuntu took over and so I read through some forums online. I can now get to the Windows 7 loading screen but it freezes there. I have my install disc and was hoping someone could assist me with getting windows 7 back. I do not care if I loose Ubuntu. I am currently sitting with the Administrator: X:windowssystem32cmd.exe from the System Recovery Options Menu with my Windows 7 Disc in the tray.

Jan 25, 2012I've tried nearly everything possible. I've tried a sfc /scannow (CBD log is below), I just ran a chkdsk.exe, reinstalled Visual C++ and nothing has fixed it. I've also tried reinstalling the program.What else can I do? I cannot use a Windows Installer Disk as I don't have one as the company installed Windows for me and I never got a disk.I also don't have a CD large enough to put the .iso on it. Jul 6, 2011I want to view multiple windows side by side across the screen, and it kind of works, with a few issues.The first is that it never includes the window in which I am running Firefox, it will arrange every other window side by side and leave the browser window open at the original size across the whole lot. The second is I can't work out a way to say view windows side by side but exclude some - I want to snap my browser windows and a couple of other things which receive regular updates to the best possible use of the screen, but ignore windows running utilities, email, etc. Is there a way to say place some windows side by side without having to shut down and reopen the ones I'm not interested in viewing on side by side?
The third is, is there any way to specify the order in which I want it to display the windows? I get them in all kinds of random orders and even if I drag them around to be almost exactly where I want them, if I use the "side by side" they jump into different orders - I want Firefox to the left, IE to the right (they fulfil different view functions for me) and the other program in the middle. There seems to be no way for me to tell the system I want them lined up like that. Will I have to line things up on the screen manually if I want them like that? It's not always the same programs so I don't want to start incorporating commands to force them to run in certain sizes and locations.

Jul 3, 2012I have problem running any executable file, including opening zip files.
I have uninstall Norton Internet Security came with the Lenovo laptop, and install Avast free antivirus, everything fine after installation. But today when I start the laptop, all executable files cannot start, such as IE, Adobe, MS office, anything with .exe, and .zip. Error message is:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details."
I google a bit, one suggestion is to re-install the Visual C++ re-distribution, but the exe file cannot run, therefore re-installing is impossible.
There is another suggestion to reset the default file association for exe, tried that but no difference. Couldn't find any other instance the same, look like my problem is more serious than other.

I have been sitting here for about two hours. Some times they will open side by side and other times not--most of the times they don't. One of the windows will open and fill the screen. If I restore the windows down, it might work once, but the next time it will fill up the screen. I even click on Proprieties on the IE icon and choose to open minimized. Oct 18, 2009I am currently looking a way to enable Aero in my machine. (as note, currently I am missing the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Aero Flip.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.

This program ran perfectly on Windows XP on my 9 year old PC.I am attempting to install the program on Windows 7 Home Premium, running on a Lenovo H330 i5 with 8 GB RAM. I have the old disks, but cnnot open the cab files independently to see if the file is there. There is no information on the web site about this file and no telephone number to call for support either. Search of the fujitsu site does not produce the file or information about it. When I try to start the Scan Snap Manager, I get an error message indicating that the above file is needed. When I turn the scanner on and try to run a document through it, the document runs through and then I get a message indicating that the above file is needed.
