View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Advent T9102 and Advent T9308, due to the Advent T9102 being really old and having a few problems and consistently crashing, I decided to take the Hard Drive out of it and make use of it in my Advent T9308 and reformat the whole machine and install Windows 7. Due to my Advent T9308 being Windows XP I first upgraded it to Windows Vista to get all the necessary Windows 7 drivers. Everything worked great once upgraded to Windows Vista. I then used my USB stick to install Windows 7.
When I restarted the Advent T9308 I booted the USB stick and it started loading the Windows files, I deleted all the partitions on the hard drives and reformatted the drives. The installation screen came up and I followed the screen prompts. When it got to the installing Windows part it shot the percentage straight up for the "Copying Windows files" which was odd, but then the "Expanding Windows files" it froze at 1%, I knew it froze because I left it for 30mins and it didn't go up a percentage. I decided to hold the power button for 5 seconds and restart the machine.
On restart the machine got stuck on the very first Advent screen, it currently has "Press DEL to run Setup, Press TAB to display BIOS POST Message", but it doesn't matter what button I press on the keyboard nothing loads up? Obviously no Windows will load up as I deleted the Windows partitions. I am just trying to get the machine to boot up the USB, or, CD so I can install Windows 7, but the machine wont get past the first screen, just before the post bios screen. The machine fans are spinning, the motherboard light is on, no beeps at start up, if you just listened to it it sounds like everything is ok, but its not getting past the Advent first screen?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual. It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have three PCs that connect to my home network wireless and two others that connect wired through a hub. Periodically one of the wireless PCs will see the other wireless devices but not the wired ones. This morning I installed some Win 7 updates and after the restart my laptop can't see the wired devices. My wife's Win 7 laptop sees everything. So the problem is intermittent. I have fiddled with Advanced Settings in Network Sharing, such as turning Network Discovery off and back on again. I can't seem to find the silver bullet that will cure this problem when it occurs.

Am I right in thinking that the Win7 laptop cannot be made to 'see' the wireless printer because it has been set up on XP? It would be helpful to know before I get over there to spend some time investigating.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting my girlfriends laptop to the internet using her Windows 7 laptop via a Dlink router with Virgin Media. The laptop previously had Windows Vista installed but I recently upgraded it to Windows 7. For about 2 weeks the laptop connected to the wireless router fine, but stopped working about 4 days ago for some unknown reason out of the blue.
We have tried various methods to fix it, including disabling the wireless network adapter and enabling it again, we have tried updating the driver for the adapter but we get a message saying that the driver currently installed is the latest driver. It also won't let me roll back to the previous driver as that option is faded out in the properties box.
I have took her laptop to my house today to try and connect it to my router (which is also with Virgin and is working fine on my computers at my house) and the laptop won't let me connect to the network and it keeps saying there are no network connections available. I understand that usually it displays a list of connections you can log on to, but the laptop is not finding any connections at all.
On Thursday we attempted to connect to the internet by plugging in the blue wire that came with the router and that works fine. It's just it will not connect wirelessly. What really baffles us with this problem is that it worked fine for a couple of weeks then suddenly stopped working. Could it be an update that was installed that has caused the problem perhaps?
I have also tried using System Restore but that hasn't fixed the problem either. The wireless adapter is called: Atheros AR5005G Wirelss Network Adapter.
I am having a wireless issue on my laptop. I have had my connections in the two locations for months now. One network was recently upgraded to another router and the other network router was reset. I am at the location where the router was reset. My available networks are showing and are in excellent strength but whenever I hit "connect",nothing happens.I don't even get a prompt to enter the passcode. I even tried to connect at my local library's wifi with no such luck. When I run diagnostics it keeps saying "None of the networks you have previously connected to are in range"?? My drivers are up to date. I am a novice when it comes to computers so I really need help on this one. Just tell me what is needed in terms that I can understand (again, I am not that computer savvy, lol) and I will provide them. I am running on a 32bit and my laptop is a HP. The router is a Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n
