I've a problem with ALL my Windows 7 Laptop ini my office. We have 5 Laptop with Windows 7 installed in it. A week ago, everything is doing Normally. I make those 5 laptops join domain, and I make the user in domain as an administrator in their local Laptop. But in last Monday, everything going strange:
1. When I logging in using their account, I can enter the desktop. But when I try to access some programs that need Administrator Account, it become errors and said that I must administrator privilege to access this programs.
2. I try to access user account in control panel, and when I see the user list, it become BLANK. No user defined even an administrator too. When I try to add new user in it, it said that I didn't have Administrator privilege (again).
3. I try to logging in using Local Administrator, but in the log in menu, it said that the administrator account is disabled. How Come?
4. The only way I can access with administrator privilege is using the Domain Administrator. I try to configure again, and when I restart, everything has gone again.
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I have an Acer laptop which came with one user account, Acer, with the administrator right. When I tried to rename it to Administrator or administrator, I got an messages saying that user name has already existed
I recently logged onto my account about 2 days ago to finish a project. The music file I used for the account was could not be found and when I went to locate it I was told I didn't have administrator rights. I went to Control Panel because I was sure I was an Administrator, but sure enough, I was set as a Standard User. I tried changing it up but it wouldn't change. I tried changing the account name also, and it wouldn't change. I could only change account picture. I can't open UAC, I click it and it blinks but nothing opens. I deleted any recent program installations,I booted in safe mode, however I was still not able to change my account,I tried activating the hidden administrator account but I received an "access denied" message,I tried creating a new account but I received the following message:"The specified account name is not valid, because account names contain the following characters: /[]":;|<>=+,?*Please type a different name."I didn't use any of those characters in the account name.I ran 2 different virus scans, and they came up with nothing,I turned the computer off, unplugged everything, and pressed the power button for 30 seconds, and rebooted, but still nothing! My roommate shares this computer with me, and her account is still an administrator. However she has traveled and I haven't been able to get hold of her yet. We share music files and the file I was trying to use is in her account.why my account was changed and how I can change it back?
I am missing a password for win 7 ultimate. I dont have administrator and also cannot just open bios and reset all passwords. It seems that this computer is networked to others and it is locked from outside.
what should i do to unlock it? only one account is created and thats me as an administrator...when i executed the files only to restrict other users, i as well was locked up? is there any means to unlock it? system restores doesnt work too not even when i login to safe mode or computer repair boot.
I have created a test domain with one server (windows server 2008r2) running active directory and dns, and one client that is in the domain(windows 7 enterprise) I have created a new user, John Andrews, and added him to the Domain Admin [Global Group] and then Domain Admin's is a member of Administrators [Domain Local Group]. url...Now my understanding was that you in theory use the Global Groups for users, and the Domain Local groups for resources. So for example if your usinging the built in groups, you would assign your Admin users to the Domain Admins global group, and then any folder or object that had the Administrators domain local group in it's permissions, would be accessable to your Admins users, because Domain Admins is a member of the domain local group Administrators. On the server, while logged in as John Andrews I then created a new 10GB partition, H:, to make as a file share. The permissions of this partition have the Administrators domain local group as a member with Full Control. url...I then created a new folder in this partition called LanAdmin. The folder creates fine, but then when I try to open it, I get a dialog that I do not have permission. When I check the Security permissions, it again says that I do not have the administrative permission, however I can still hit continue to view the permissions. And in the security list is the Administrators domain local group with Full control selected. url...I do not understand why I do not have permissions to this folder, even as I just created it. Am I not correct about how a user in the global group has access to resources of a domain local group that the users global group is a member of?
I have an HP Pavilion with windows 7.When the user account screen comes up for you to log in on your account, under mine it says "locked".Why does it say that and how can I change that setting to unlocked. My account is the only one on the computer and we all just use that one, so there are no other accounts on the pc.
I had no password assigned to my windows account. Yesterday I signed out and restarted my machine. Windows now wants a password. I don't have one. How do I get back in to windows? The interesting thing is that same day my brother called me to tell me the same thing happened to him . He is running win xp. I ran a boot and run virus scanner (bit defender) and it found a few things. I still can't get in to windows.
So I recently added a new system running x86 windows 7 to the network, and when I log out or shut down using a local account, everything works as it should. If I log on to one of the user domain accounts, however, these actions don't work. Instead, the start menu and icons disappear and I'm left with the desktop background indefinitely.Unplugging the network cable and plugging it back in then makes the system proceed to regular log out / shut down procedures, but I'm not sure why... Any ideas on some setting that is mis-set?Also, this only seems to happen the first time I attempt to log out or shut down since the last reboot. So, if I log in to a domain account and try to log out, it will do this "freeze". Then, I unplug the network cable and plug it back in, and then the system logs out of the account. If I then log back in and try to log out again, it will work fine. But if I reboot the machine, the problem returns.
my user account keeps getting locked out on my domain. It's happening about every 30-60 minutes from my IP address. I've checked the logs on my DCs and the are Pre-Authentication errors due to my laptop being Windows 7 and the DCs running Server 2003. I've tried updating my password and making sure I am logged out of every other server/PC/mapped drive on the domain. I've also tried changing my IP, just because. The strangest part is this happens when my laptop is not connected to the network as well. I will check the logs and my IP Address is listed as the offender.
I am tryin to add my windows 7 clients to windows 2008 server. I created the new user accoutns. I added the new user accounts to the domain and they added fine. ( first.lastname.domain).Our network admin then change the domain account first.lastname.domain2then went to local account 'firstname' and renamed it to match the domain went to log back in to domain account and it keeps logging m
how to "Logon using Dial-up networking" in 7 enterprise. My VPN connection establishes but immidiately disconnects because something in the process is locking my domain user account.
My husband and I just got a new desktop, I originally planned on sharing a user account but since we're both in school I figured to have our own user accounts just to keep our files more separated and everything. So I created a second user account for me. I then realized that since he uses MY iTunes account, it makes sense that we use a shared music folder. Somehow I effed up my folders, the Public Music folder in particular. The only way I could see how to fix it was to restore it. Well that fixed the music folder problem, but it restored the computer back to before I had set up my own user login. No problem, I went back in and re-created it. Now my problem is that the user accounts are just fine, but the user folder from my first account is still in the the C drive under "users" but technically there is no user account that's attached to it. And of course, the folder is locked. I tried to delete it, but got a popup saying I was about to delete a system file so How to I remedy this situation???
I've recently picked up a new hard drive from a buddy of mine.I've managed to change my computer name and user account name. However, the user folder in "My Computer -> Local Disk C: -> Users" is locked, and I am unable to change the name.It doesn't cause any problems, I just want to find a way to change it if its possible. As well, I've also set permissions, but it only allows me to access the files, which is not the problem, since I only want to change the name of the User Account Folder.
What would be the quickest way to create a completely locked-down account on my Windows 7 Home Premium so that my flatmates can play my Steam computer games without access to anything else? I've created an account and blocked it's access to the root of all drives via the Security tab of the Properties dialogue of each drive. I've also blocked access to all programs except steam.exe and associated programs. The problems are:some programs are set to run at start-up and yield an error for each program which cannot start - how can I disable start-up programs for a specific user account?steam.exe cannot run because I've blocked access to the drive - I want to be able to block their access in Wndows Explorer but not the authorised programs' access; you know?
just purchase a new PC running Windows 7 Pro 64. Am trying to move my files from "old" Windows 7 Pro 32 PC to the new one through a home network. They both connect, WET starts, analyses but when I say go i get an error code: "Windows Easy Transfer can't log on to your domain account"?What's up with that?
I basically had 3 accounts on my computer, one being "Administrator" (w Admin rights), one "test" (Standard User rights) and one more "User" that is the one I use most frequently (with Admin rights). When I last used it last Friday the User account was still present and all my programs were working fine.
However, when I came back to office today, I found that the User account was missing from the welcome screen, and only the "Administrator" and "test" account were there. Somehow, I could not login to the "Administrator" account. When I logged into the "test" account, all the program shortcuts were blank (Firefox, Adobe Reader Etc) and only IE and the default windows programs would work. I suspected that there might be a virus, but I couldn't install anything because I did not have the admin privileges.
My question is: 1. How do I get back into my admin account? 2. is there any way to install anti-virus programs (by going around the admin account) to solve this issue?
I'm basically stuck with a standard user account and I can't do anything with it. I tried using System Restore on the Standard account, but when I click "Open System Restore" nothing happens.
we upgraded from sbs2003 server to sbs2008 server. We removed the pc from the old domain and then added it to the new domain. Something went wrong after we joined the new domain it doesn't see the new domain for login and the local Administrator account has been disabled. The only account available is the guest account. Is there a way to enable the local administrator account again?
I like to enable the Guest Account on my Windows 7 computer so that my family can also use my PC for simple web surfing.
One thing that I have noticed in Windows 7 is that when in the guest account no network icon appears in the notification area (aka system tray) to tell you the status of the network connection. This is particularly annoying for me as our wireless network connection can be flaky at times (I blame the neighbours!) and it is good to be able to see the status.
Does anyone know how to enable the network status icon in the guest account?
I am the Administrator, can I log into any account using my admin pass?I have several standard user accounts with passwords.. I don't want to remove their passwords or delete the accounts, just have access to them..
I am using windows 7 professional x64bit.My computer is in "Manipal.net" domain with user name "ESKE"Now I can't install any software. It says access denied.Computer is not allowing me to enable "built in admin account".How can I install new software?
My Windows7 suddenly displayed a default desktop. I then did an unsuccessful system restore, tried the undo and got stuck. From there on, when I want to log in I end up at the error message "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". I tried to activate the administrator account by using "net user administrator /active:yes". The command executes, but administrator never shows up on the login screen. I cannot start Windows 7 in safe mode. A few seconds after the safe mode login screen appears the computer restarts automatically. No administrator account is listed here either.
I forgot the password i have set for the administrator account. It's not the Administrator itself, but a personalized Administrator account. I'm currently using a non-admin account to use my Laptop.
