Today, I changed 2 of our computers (plan on doing them all) and now I am the administrator on those computers, I want to grant access to ALL documents, music, videos, etc. files that already exist on their PC's. really just want to block internet porn and the likes.

I may have done something silly to make this happen, messing about with account perms and such when I got my MCITP book... Can use the computer a s a guest but I can't use Restore Point, can't use Run as Administrator, SpyBot has found issues I can't deal with without Admin access and neither can I do a back up before a wipe and reload. View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a search on this and I cannot find that the problem has been resolved, not in a way that works for me anyway.Issue: when I try to open C:Documents & Settings I get "acess denied". This despite that my being logged in as admin.I mean, I installed Windows 7 RC1 on the machine (and am the only user), before that the computer didn't even know it existed. Now all of a sudden access is denied me...who's gonna grant me access? God? It's so stoopid...Oh, and another thing - is there a way to preserve programs and settings and transfer this data to a new installation of Windows 7 RTM? I have installed what seems like a Gazillion programs (and every associated setting), utilities, Registry tweaks and what-have-you since I installed Windows 7 RC1. Probably 8-10 hours worth of work. View 9 Replies View Relatedi tried excess my download folder in 'my documents' there were short cuts created for each folder which was previously not there.these short cuts were not eccesible "excess denied" my nortan antivirus program detected a trojan horse (vircure 32 exe.). there are unknown new files (ntuser.dat) created too. when i tried to delet tthe massage " if deleted windows or a program may not work" apeared. i have not done anything yet.

When I double click the folder it tells me access denied. Any time I try to change security it tells me I don't have permission. I tried to apply ownership to my name over the folder and it give me an error that access is denied.

I did try to ask him for local admin, as I need to change certain network-settings in order for my update my network-drivers.When asking the IT-staff for local admin, reasoning with the fact that I cannot access the internet properly due to the drivers not being uptodate, they simply wrote me off, saying that I didn't need it. They did, however, challenge me get local admin, claiming that they wouldn't care as long as I didn't cause any harm to the computer.I have a normal local user, connected to the schooldomain. It is still connected to the domain-name after leaving the schoolnetwork, where my username is DOMAIN\username. I am not able to access BIOS, do any changes in group policy or system32, and naturally, all the CMD-commands we did at junior high when we were twelve does not work. The BIOS is set to automatically boot from the HDD; thus any tricks involving .iso files and CD/USB-drives will not work.

I can copy my photos across but it says I don't have permission to access my documents, even though I use the same name and password on both my laptop and my PC. View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, it's all still there but here's my issue in detail: I was trying to reorganize my itunes/music folders. The way I have been doing it is I basically have my music in 2 different folders (iTunes and another seperate music folder). I did this because I am a bit new to how iTunes organizes my music and I like having my music in folders the way I want.
Anyway that's not the issue; the issue is I decided to start fresh with deleting all my iTunes music (still stewing in recycle bin) and just do the the old drag and drop from my backup music folder. So I just dragged all my folders into iTunes. Then I went to browse my music folders (non iTunes) and it keeps giving me a "Permission Denied"
If it makes any difference all my media music/videos are stored on external Seagate 320GB HD. I can still access all my Videos but every time I try to open any of my music folders I get the this error "you do not have permission to view this object's security properties"
Well I got past that buy changing that folders permissions under advanced. The issue I have now is I have to do this for EVERY FOLDER AND EVERY FILE/SONG IN THOSE FOLDERS.
What did I do, and is there a easier way to fix this?
Need assistance on how to Logon: Administrator user account & Password Denied..Problems on computer with Google Chrome Uninstalled everything Google using Revo. Then went to restart computer but could not Login as Administrator password denied.. but no recent change in password.Getting access to internet by logging on with another user but does not have administration privileges.Tried the following without success:
1. Safe Mode - error message, states do not have Admin privileges.
2. User Account - cannot create a new account with as admin...cannot remove nor change admin account password.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my OS a few months ago to 64 bit with new components etc. I kept all of the old system files and folders JUST for if it went wrong, now ive sorted them all out, the old system files, and adobe is locked for some reason? I keep trying to change all of the administration but it just jumps straight back to before, but hey, im in no hurry to change it, its only 15gb of useless copies! Its just niggling at me and i would like to get it sorted if theres any other way? ie changing the admin account so i can change - everything-, as I'm not exactly new with computers, been studying them for years.
- Also, a little off topic if anyones got enough time to add some wisdom to the thread, ive just bought a super duper cooler for my CPU as when i run on normal settings on a game I play, LotrO, the manufacturers fan goes mad, and it really gets my goat making a loud whirring sound, would I be able to run on High-Ultra with a duel core amd athlon 2? with that fan I have "Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 CPU Cooler" it wouldnt make any sound as its made for being quiet and cool very well. i suppose the only sign of the strain is artifacts in-game?
I have managed to lose access to admin account and non of the tricks to get it back will work for me.My folks have a new dell lappy. The first admin account I set up for them. I created a second admin account for myself which I wanted hidden (ctrl alt del at welcome screen).So in 1 session, I enabled ctrl alt del through netplwiz; edited the registry to make my admin account hidden, and lowered my folks account to standard user.After restart, ctrl alt del wont work at welcome screen so i cannot access admin account.I have tried running command prompt as admin and activating administrator account but i get 'type 5' error.I cannot run gpedit.msc, get a not found errorI cannot make any changes in safe mode that a standard user cannot make.so feel free to call me a muppet or whatever, but please help, there must b a way without having to recover back to factory settings
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a new account for myself and made it an admin account. I then removed the admin priviliges in my sisters account. Somehow now both are standard user accounts and anything i try to do is blocked by an admin password.
Noone has ever entered a password for the admin accounts so i have no idea what this could be. It is not giving me a hint or any help at all. I would rather not have to reboot the whole thing as it's very time consuming.
When I access my Music files (2600 files, 185 folders, 20GBs) on my Samsung (D) drive I get this slow green line in the address bar going from left to right, takes like 15 seconds to go across, I'm assuming it's indexing(?) the music folder and can't really do anything until that green line finishes going across, is there something I can turn on or off to speed up the "green line" so I do not have to wait the 15 seconds? Would a SATA 6.0 drive help speed up the "green line"?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not really sure when this problem started, but as the admin account and only real user (I set up another account to test my problems) on my HP Laptop, I cannot access the user accounts on my computer. I've tried to access them multiple ways, including through the control panel and directly through the start menu, but when I try to click on anything having to do with the user accounts on my pc, nothing happens. So I am unable to change my password, change my picture, or add or remove other accounts. It's almost like I'm not an administrator. However, according to multiple places on my computer, my account is still an administrator. Also, some programs do not launch unless I chose to launch them as an admin by right clicking, is that normal?
So to summarize my situation, I don't think my admin account is giving me proper access to my computer, limiting the things I can do.
Main computer is the office computer. Its a desktop that a person is constantly on and doing stuff. There are 3 others that need the same information and documents at any given time. These 3 people have their laptops that are constantly switching wifi hotspots. They need to change information sometimes, and need access to all of it any time. The way its setup now is 1 person is on the main computer, but when one of the three need to access it, they remotely log in and take control. Only one person can access the computer at a time. How do I set it up so all four of these people can access and change the files at the same time if they want? The main computer is being used constantly, but someone always needs a document or file while the main person is working on it. So it slows production when someone logs in.

Before on XP I had a hidden admin account and all I had to do was CTRL+ALT+DELETE and it would bring up my account, with windows 7 it doesn't seem to work this way. Now to be 100% clear, I don't want the default admin account (for trouble shooting) all I want is a second admin account that if needed can access user accounts on my laptop from the log-on screen by hitting some combination of keys.
