ACER Windows 7 Mini Laptop Failure?
Apr 6, 2012My laptop acer window 7 mini laptop use to hang. Sometimes it hangs while booting,sometimes when it has finish booting,sometimes while am working or trying to save a document.Whenever it does that i will short down through the start up button then switch it on again. The system will then give options of choosing repair my computer automatically or start window normal. Most often it still hangs even while i chose repair automatically,the same goes to start window normal. Sometimes it will start working again and then stop any time it chooses.

I bought a new HDD for upgrade (toshiba 320) and change the OS at the same time from Vista to Windows 7 home premium. The problem is it doesn't recognized the new Hdd (toshiba 320) that I bought, I also try western digial HDD my spare, but still the unit doesnt detect the hdd. But when I put back the original HDD (Hitachi 250) of Acer Aspire 4730z, it can detect the HDD. Why is that? What should I do?

I am running Windows 7 professional on Dell Inspiron E1505 and when my computer goes into hibernation ( it doesn't matter if it's on battery or plugged in), sometimes I can reload the computer physically. Sometimes or most times, it shows a black screen and I have to manually shut the PC up and then reload it losing everything which I had before going into hibernation.

Apr 15, 2012My laptop suddenly decided to not run, it gets to "starting windows" but will not go any further. I`ve tried to boot from the OS disc to do a repair but it still goes to "starting windows". If i select "repair computer" at start up without the OS disc it stays at that window and will not go any further, I can`t even get an option when booting from OS disc to format and reload windows. The HDD is spinning so i know it`s getting power. I can run Linux live cd so i`m presuming it`s probably the HDD is fried even though it`s spinning. I even took ouit nthe HDD and connected it to my desktop but the desktop wouldn`t recognise it.

Feb 6, 2013Got software restore. Can't start from disc. Changed boot order, nothing. f8, f10, f12,got my no where. Won't start in safe mode. I don't have the options that the instructions with the discs say I should have. Here are my options:
1. IDE1: Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD10RS
2. IDE0: WDC WD5000BPVT=22HX2T1
3. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI Device
1. Goes to eRecovery and just sticks there with a blue spinning wheel
2. Goes to f8 menu with no option for recovery or repair. When trying to start normally it goes to a blue screen with an error message that is gone to fast to read. Restarts
3. Goes to black screen with some unreadable stuff except for the word "failure". Restarts

May 24, 2010I am using a proper Windows 7 Ultimate disc to reload windows via the upgrade option. This is something I have done in the past without problems. I have tried for the last 2 days and after 5 hours and at the point of booting up into windows gives me the message that the upgrade has been unsuccessful and is reloading the previous version. Can anyone tell me why. The original version on my laptop is a legit copy as is the disc I have which is also the disc the copy on my laptop was originally installed from.

May 10, 2011so i am not intirerly sure this is the correct place to post it.Secondly, i think this is a problem that i have created myself and now i am unable to correct it.The jist of it is this. Whenever i try to active the webcam (Function + F10) a pop-up shows saying that hardware connected to a USB port is not recognized. This must be cause by the cam (which us buillt-in) is connected to the USB port on the motherboard.When i go to device manager, i can see that there is a unknown device connected, whenever the webcam is powered on.Btw it worked fine when i did the initial installation of the computer.What i have tried to do to resolve this is the following:
- Remove all drivers asociated with the webcam - reboot - reinstall from provided CD
- Power down, take out batteri (even for en entire night) to let the motherboard reload the USB drivers.
- Removed all the USB drivers and have tried reinstallling
I deleted som folders from my D: drive, (which is not the partition that has my windows directory installed) and there i might have deleted som crutial files for the webcam software to work.I have no idea on how to go on from here. This is a computer i have spend quite a long time getting up-2-date with all the programs i use for school and the exams are coming up. I would really like not having to do a clean install right now.

Dec 29, 2011I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 64-Bit (Windows 7 Home Premium) laptop that I bought before the summer, today a Windows Update has given me an Acer display update published on the 28/12/2011. I thought because I had my vga cable plugged into the TV Windows Update may have become confused but despite checking for updates again it still appears there as optional.
AMD/ATI is recognized by Windows and Windows Update and there had already been a display driver update not so long ago, so I cannnot understand why I'm receiving an update for the wrong machine?

May 5, 2011When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

May 17, 2012I have the problem of failure to configure windows, i have seen a few posts on here about people solving this problem but i am a bit of a noob so was hoping i could get some 1 on 1 help.I was stuck in a loop for a while in that i would get to the failure to configure windows screen and it would either restart or would just stay on that screen for hours. i have now somehow got onto my laptop (don't ask me how! just luck i guess) but i was wondering if there was something i could do to stop it happening again. until that time i will be trying to leave my laptop turned on.

May 28, 2012my PC is refusing to start up. It happened yesterday after the power had flickered, I turned off my computer because the battery it was hooked up to was yelling at me (due to the power flicker). On the startup, my PC just hangs after "Verifying DMI Pool Data", and then gives me the "DISKBOOT FAILURE, PLEASE INSERT DISC AND PRESS ENTER" to continue shenanigans.
I've cleaned out my computer and have tried unplugging my two external hard-drives, as well as going into the BIOS and making sure the boot order was correct. When I insert a Windows boot disc, it refuses to 'repair' my system because it says there's no specified OS to repair... I thought the problem was that it wasn't recognizing my actual hard-drive, but that doesn't seem to be the case, (I forgot how I got to it but,) it recognized that I had 183/500 GB of space left (as well as being able to view certain files.
I recently was able to get into DOS, where it's listing my main drive as "X:windows\system32". Could this be the problem? If so, how did it reassign it to "X: and why did it do that?!

Jan 25, 2012I turned the laptop off by holding the power on button depressed for as long as it took to power down.I have done this many times before.This time the laptop will not start windows after power up. Win 7 offers 2 options, normal or startup repair.Both appear to run but stay on permanently and neither will start windows. Tried booting using the repair disk and laptop will not boot from CD. CD spins initially but without booting. Only thing I can see that is not normal is that after several seconds trying to boot the Disk led remains permanently on, at least to my eyes.I have removed the battery, powered up without the battery,tried different repair CD all to no avail.
