After the welcome screen there's only a "Other User" and nothing else. My account isn't shown. I tried to log in through Other User but it's blocked with a Username and Password. I'm scared to loose all my stuff I have on there. I try to get on Safe mode to System Restore but the "Other User" still pops up and my account still isn't shown so I can't access my account(I'm using a different laptop to post this). I don't remember ever putting on a "Other User" account,. I don't want to loose any of my items I have on this PC. How can I remove this "Other User" and get my account back without loosing everything?
I followed the procedure found on the web, I entered "netplwiz" and did unchecksers must enter a user name and password to use this computer". There is no password setTHere is just one user/account which is obviously also the administrator. (the Account tab shows also HomeGroupUser$, but I guess is a default option...)the point is that when I switch the pc on, I have to click on the icon of the user account in order to see the desktop. Is there any chance I can login automatically without even clicking on the user icon
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I'm hoping to teach Mum how to use my PC in the near future and she will only be using it for typing etc and maybe the internet. Also she only use it sometimes. shall I create a Limited User Account for her or turn on the Guest Account?
I would appreciate any help identifying the cause of extremely slow log on times for a user account on our family laptop. The machine is running Windows 7 - 64-bit version, and currently has 3 users accounts 2 admin and 1 regular. The regular account has begun to experience log on times that last for minutes (The Welcome splash screen prior to log on screen), while the admin accounts have no problems. I have seen other posts regarding slow log on times, but I haven't seen those which address the issue for a specific user account.
I put a folder in my admin acct it also appears in the guest acct which is dangerous. I need both acct's but how can I put is only in admin. When I delete it from the guest acct is disappears from the admin acct too.
I have always been running admin and even until now I run as admin. But, I have been doing a little bit of research and realize that using a standard account is a safer practice. I have never even used a standard account. Is using a standard account a better practice? Also, how does doing average task such as installing programs and updating work through the standard user account?
when i start my machine (laptop)i get a logon screen and i can choose 2 account my own admin account and a nother account called: ''other account''and before this it was allright I will put a Picture on how it looks like
I have a toolbar on my taskbar titled "Programs". It has about eight folders in it. I made another toolbar, and placed it directly adjacent to the Programs toolbar, to obscure the eight folders and force it to be a dropdown menu.Trouble is, as soon as I lock my taskbar, right next to the arrow that displays the eight items of my Programs toolbar in menu-form, one of the eight items is showing up as an icon, as if the other toolbar isn't close enough to the Programs toolbar in order to completely obscure the eight items.
I recently logged onto my account about 2 days ago to finish a project. The music file I used for the account was could not be found and when I went to locate it I was told I didn't have administrator rights. I went to Control Panel because I was sure I was an Administrator, but sure enough, I was set as a Standard User. I tried changing it up but it wouldn't change. I tried changing the account name also, and it wouldn't change. I could only change account picture. I can't open UAC, I click it and it blinks but nothing opens. I deleted any recent program installations,I booted in safe mode, however I was still not able to change my account,I tried activating the hidden administrator account but I received an "access denied" message,I tried creating a new account but I received the following message:"The specified account name is not valid, because account names contain the following characters: /":;|<>=+,?*Please type a different name."I didn't use any of those characters in the account name.I ran 2 different virus scans, and they came up with nothing,I turned the computer off, unplugged everything, and pressed the power button for 30 seconds, and rebooted, but still nothing! My roommate shares this computer with me, and her account is still an administrator. However she has traveled and I haven't been able to get hold of her yet. We share music files and the file I was trying to use is in her account.why my account was changed and how I can change it back?
My friend and I share my laptop. Recently I found out that he was watching porn on my computer. So I promptly confronted him, and told him to stop. Weeks later, he did it again. So I downloaded Norton's Safety Minder to prevent it. So this sneaky prick goes around and enables the guest account, and lo and behold, porn fest again. What can I do? I don't want to keep him off the admin account, because he plays games on here, but I don't want him watching porn on my laptop either. Is there a way to put parental settings on the guest account? I know you can disable it, tried that, he just re-enables it, then disables it before he gets off. I'm really frustrated about this.
I run Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio, and never had issues.recently I had this situation where some software doesn't run properly on my main account (admin) but only in a secondary account I had created the software is installed without problems, but then it fails to run properly as an example I have a small car speed detector which has a software to download journeys. it doesn't run as it should on the main account no matter what I try. similarly i bought a Sony Bloggie and its portable software as well as the main software that came with it don't work properly, but they do on the other account, so I (annoyingly) have to switch users, and run the software there, and then go back to my main account.I suspect some anti-virus or other stuff from my main account is "blocking" things somehow. I also had a number of instances where I get alerts like "windows cannot open this file for security reasons". I have tried to change security settings, firewall settings but nothing worked.there was a general security level that required admin status to lower, yet although I obviously am admin, windows wouldn't allow me to do.
i start my pc up (from being off) and get logged into a temp user profile. It tells me that i cannot acess my user profile and all information will be deleted on logging out. I've looked online for a soloution but none work for me ,I really dont know how to resolve this problem,I have limited knowledge and computer skills. i really dont want to scrap this drive and start over.
Just installed an OEM version of Windows 7 Ultimate on a custom-made machine. It gets to the point of logging in. I type in Administrator and press enter, and I get the response, "You're account has been disabled. Please see your network administrator."
My account was changed from admin to non admin, and now can't access my account. Unable to install programs, tho I can save files, burn ISO images, etc. Need some help, or ideas to recovery, not remove the password.
my young son has been "playing" with the laptop, now the password he thought he used does not work.i tried using Offline NT Password & Registry Editor as many people pointed to it on the forum with no success, does anyone have any other ideas?I cant log on to another account as he seems to have changed something there as well, when i turn the pc on it immediately logs him on and does not give me the option to log into my account, am i missing something?
First,I have to say that I am not restarting my desktop quite ofen, and I'm not even shutting it at all,and today, for some reason(there isn't any!),I've restarted it.And that was the dumbest thing i could do!Yesterday evening, since my primary partition isn't so big,and I was downloading several big torrents in same time,I was counting will I have enough space on drive(question of megabytes),and cause of that,I have erased all system restore points, took a little space of system restore space, and made just one restore point. This morning,I have take a look at torrents, and everything seemed a bit slow, and CPU meter wasn't dropping under 40%,so I decided to restart it.And here it is,a problem,it jumped out like a wild cat from a water. After restart,I've got"Caution, you are logged on as a temp account and it will be erased after you log off"(or something similar, can't remember exactly).Just to let you know,I have turned of logging cause nobody else is using that desktop.I have searched all PC to find my temp account folder, and I'founded it through user accounts, but there is no way that I can see it in a folder view, and there is no space on drive C: either, beside it,I've found another account, probably that is the new one which is erased every time I log off(I tried it couple of times),named exactly the same as my old one.If I try to copy my old account to another partition,I can't do it.
I tried to use system restore, but there is a message"There is no system restore points" even if I know that I made one,and system restore is turned on.I am not smart enough, and simply I don't know what else to try.And the best thing is that I was just about planning to install(with making back up of all my passwords, mails, documents and other stuff which I need,of course, and not like now, with losing everything) a 7022build,and maybe a day or two ago,I was asking about what of backup software like Acronis or Norton ghost is compatible with windows 7 so I can make backup on fresh install. Please, don't ask "How comes that you don't have back up?"

I had to sign for a Windows Live ID, which I did. I then clicked on the button to have it send me a verification email. When I got the email, it gave me a whole bunch of information about using Live ID, but didn't tell me how to verify my account. I went back to the website where I was attempting to post the question, and hit "Sign In." It gave me a place to fill in my emai and password, which I did. It then sent me back to the page where I'd entered my question. But when I clicked on the button to actually post the question up came the box saying I couldn't do that without setting up an account. Then it sent me to the page saying that my account had to be verified, and referred me to the email which was supposed to tell me how to do that, but didn't. This appears to be an endless loop.
I'm running Win 7 Pro with my account (with admin rights) and my wifes' account (without admin rights). When in my account I can go to "file" then "print" and my printer is in the print dialog box. When in my wifes' account, and I go to the print dialog box it just says "xps document" or something to that effect where it should have the printers name. How can I make it so my wife can print?
I want to remove my Gmail account from my Windows Live Mail set up.Not used to Windows and can't find a way to delete it from Windows Live desk top set up, though have deleted the Gmail account at Gmail online..
I am running a dual-boot setup of Windows 7 Ultimate, one x64 and the other x86 (the 32-bit one is there mostly for when I face compatibility issues, since my system has 4GB of RAM and it came pre-installed with the 64-bit version). My primary partition runs the x64 version, which is my main OS, but I am facing a really annoying glitch with my user name at the welcome screen. In the 32 bit boot, the welcome screen loads and my account picture is shown maximized and the password box is already highlighted, so all I need to do is enter the password and I am good to log in. However, the 64 bit boot loads with my account picture minimized (as if there was another account available), and I have to click on it or press the Space bar to get it to show me the password box so I can log in. This wouldn't bother me normally, but I just recently did a clean install of both boot configs and it has only been since then that this has been a problem. Previously, my 64-bit welcome screen would load normally and I wouldn't have to select the account manually.
I have spent countless hours online trying to find a solution to this problem, and I have still not been able to do so. The only difference between the two configurations is that I connected to my local HomeGroup with the 64-bit OS, and I have since left it and disabled the associated services, but I have not been able to restore the default login screen. I can't remember if this issue existed before I joined this HomeGroup or not, so I don't even want to restore my computer that far back in case that wasn't the problem.
i have only 1 account , administrator ( my name)when i click start , above documents there is my name , and an icon/avatar that i did decided may i change my name , for example capitalize the letters (example name to -> Name o name to -> NAME ) ?
I am the Administrator, can I log into any account using my admin pass?I have several standard user accounts with passwords.. I don't want to remove their passwords or delete the accounts, just have access to them..
I was installing a patch so i could get the Personalization Panel on my Windows 7 Home Edition and had to restart my computer. When i was logging in my user account i typed my password and the screen just went black and then just brought me back to the start up screen where you pick a user. I share a computer with my sister and she couldn't log in her account either. I'm guessing there was probably some kind of virus or something but i'm not sure. What can i do?
