ATT Gateway Has Wireless But No Routing?

Jan 4, 2011

ATT recently provided me a gateway modem. It has wireless, but no routing. Any way I can RDP into the only machine physically connected to that gateway without intoducing a router and setting up the gayway for passthrough?

Brand New Asus Z54C-JS91 Wireless Default Gateway Not Available

Oct 19, 2012

I've been helping a friend of mine set his new laptop up, and I ran into an issue when I tried to connect to my wireless network. It attempts to connect, then just hangs there. I've tested this on multiple routers. And every time, after a few seconds, it says "No Internet Connection." The internet works when I use an ethernet cable, but not wirelessly. I tried all of the fixes I could find. Disabling ipv6, resetting my router to factory default settings, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, etc. I even reinstalled Windows 7 with my Window Ultimate install disc (I figured that maybe he had gotten a bad install) and I still had no luck. When I tried pinging the router's IP address (192.168.1.1) and got:

Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.5: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.5: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.5: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.5: Destination host unreachable.
Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0(0% loss)

The model of the card is Railink RT5390. The router is an Arris router/modem combo and was supplied to me by Comcast. Tell me if I need to supply more information. Is it possible that it's a bad WLAN card?

Windows 7 And ICS Routing?

Jul 24, 2011

I have a windows 7 ultimate machine that connects wirelessly with my router (192.168.1.x) and is also connected through wired lan (192.168.137.x) to a switch. The Windows 7 has ICS enabled in order to give internet access to the machines. My problem is that I cannot ping from the rest of the wireless devices (192.168.1.x) any of the wired devices (192.168.137.x).I have added a route to my router to route packets to the 192.168.1.6 (which is the wireless interface of the Windows 7 machine) but the Windows 7 doesn't send the packets to the other interface.

This is the result from the traceroute

IO Shield Is Routing Noise Through Computer Speakers

Jan 15, 2012

For some reason I only receive interference through my speakers when my IO shield is installed. I've tried aligning the tabs to contact the motherboard connections, but that generates a lot of noise through the speakers. I tested it outside of the case and installed in the case (without the IO shield) and there was zero noise. Isn't my IO shield supposed to prevent this? So, I have the shield installed, and of course there is still a miniscule, but annoying amount of noise through the speakers. It's definitely the IO shield!Drivers are all current, mic and line in are muted.

Oct 23, 2009

I've loaded Windows 7 and Office 2003 on my desktop. However whenever I try to Route Recipient from Word it start by giving me a message that says.A program is strying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No".I respond to Allow access and then choose a recipient from my address book to send to only to receive this message.General mail failure. Close Microsoft Office Word, restart the mail system and try again. I've tried closing word and Outlook and restarting them with no success. I've researched and found this problem when Vista was first released but the registry entry fixes identified as work arounds there don't work. how we can still use the routing recipient in Word 2003 while in Window 7.

When I try to 'resolve the problem', it indicates that "The default gateway is not available". I've updated all things I could update (including VAIO related, Windows update, as well as the driver of the WIFI card) but the problem remains. In contrast, my flatmates manage to connect to the Wifi network. Also, I can have internet through the ethernet cable. FYI, my Wifi card is ATHEROS AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. I'm also attaching a zipped version of the information system (.rar)

The first 2 weeks or so i had aboslutely no problems, but after that the internet started to cut out randomly, it wouldn't completely disconnect, it would just show an exclamation mark over the wireless signal icon. The only way to temporarily fix it is to troubleshoot the network, and all it tells me is that "The default gateway is not available." Once i troubleshoot it the internet runs fine for a period of time, could be 30 seconds, could be 2 hours, but then it stops working again. I've searched online for weeks for a solution but nothing has worked. it's quite frustrating when your a big online gamer

Invalid Gateway IP On Laptop

Jul 25, 2011

I have a Windows 7 laptop, it has two network connections - one that I use at work; it is a hard wired connection (by DHCP - where the server automatically assigns an I.P. address), and the other wi-fi; which I use at home (again by DHCP where my modem / router assigns an I.P. address).

Recently I performed a Windows update (whilst at home - connected to my wi-fi network) and now when I take my laptop to work I am unable to connect to the internet. The Windows (2000) server knows that my computer is there, and I can access network shares, however I can't browse the web.

I had a look at my network settings by "ipconfig /all" and discovered that my "hard wired" connection is being supplied an invalid Gateway I.P.

Other computer on the network are not receiving an invalid Gateway.

As a temporary fix I have entered a static IP, however I am wondering if anybody knows what may cause my laptop to be assigned an incorrect Gateway IP, particularly when other computers on the work network are not experiencing this issue.

Default Gateway Can't Be Found

Apr 6, 2011

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, running Windows 7. Up until this morning everything was working fine (I've had it approximately 3 mos.), I haven't downloaded anything today or had any other problems, HOWEVER, suddenly my internet connection went out. That is to say, It still says I have full bars and that I'm 'connected' but it's an 'unidentified network' with no access to the internet or network. I've looked through a million help files today and tried them all and none of them have worked. I even used system restore to a month ago and it hasn't worked. I disabled all Mcafee products (expired anyway.) I called my internet provider and after they decided it was the computer and not the wireless they connected me to Dell, Dell definitively decided it's not a hardware problem but were going to make me pay to connect me to a software person. As far as I can see the network is set up correctly - the same as it's always been, and unlike all the other posts I've seen on it.. it does NOT work when I hook up an ethernet cable. My desktop is still working fine (obviously, I'm posting. lol.) When I run system diagnostic it resets the network configuration (doesn't help) and then tells me to investigate router or modem issues. (Also doesn't help.) There is no exclamation point or question mark etc. under Device Manager by my Dell Wireless card.

I was able to click on its properties and see its mac address etc. I called my provider and their tech section is looking into it. I have an admin password and running encryptation with a password key on my 2 wrie gateway. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be the cause of the other home network gateway showing up in our home network?

Default Gateway Keeps Dropping?

Mar 19, 2011

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, running on a Dell. I purchased this computer back in February 2010, and the internet HAS ALWAYS been wired directly to the router. All of my networking and internet was constant until January 2011, when I switched from Comcast to Verizon (big mistake), as soon as Verizon routers were installed in my house, my computer (only this computer, not my laptop or my Xbox 360) kept losing internet connection, and I had to either unplug and plug in my ethernet cable, or troubleshoot and repair my default gateway. Well I switched back to Comcast again, and this problem is still standing. Every 6 hours or so it happens. I have tried everything involving disabling IPv6 and resetting my winsock in command prompt. So this must be a compatibility problem with my computer and the comcast router, right? The router is a Netgear Wireless-N 150 Router, WNR1000v2.

Default Gateway Changes After Reboot?

Dec 8, 2009

I am having problems with my internet connection. I am running a pc behind a router with DHCP enabled. Often when I restart the computer the computers internal IP is also set as the default gateway.

My router is 192.168.1.1 My computer gets automatically IP 192.168.1.4 and then gets Default gateway of 192.168.1.4

Then I have to manually set the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 for it to work. But next time I use the computer the gateway has changed again and I have to change back.

What to do? I have the latest network drivers for my nvidia mobo and running windows 7. The name of the network I am connected to also changes a lot.
