ATI Folder (Acquiring 200GB Of Space) Within C Drive
Jun 9, 2012
I have owned a Toshiba Satellite L505d laptop running windows 7 for almost 3 years now. I have been clearing out files and backing them up onto external hard drive. I noticed my computer had used 225gb of the allotted 250gb on my hard drive, but I couldn't find the culprit of what was taking up all that space. I had emptied out the folders I use for image and video files. Program files only accounted for about 25 gb, but when i checked a folder called ATI (assuming the drivers of the video card on my pc) it accounted for 200gb of space. Is it safe to delete this data?

Both my laptop and PC are running out of space in the drive C. Turned out the AppData/Local folder was taking up too much space (more than half of the total of the drive). But then when I selected all the files and folders in the AppData/Local folder, right click/Properties, it said the size was only 250MB.

I want something on the context menu that:1. I can right click on empty folder space within the folder2. Context menu says "delete folder to recycle bin"3. The folder and all its contexts disappears and therefore so does the window I just used to delete itYou can do this with filemenu tools, but only for PERMANENT delete. I think this is too dangerous. Also sometimes I regret deleting something immediately. I just do it out of convenience. I have looked into the custom commands of filemenu tools and it does not facilitate this action.

What is going on with my system. I try to install a program and get an error message saying that it is unable to write to C:Users[MYNAME]AppDataLocalTemp So I open Windows Explorer and check the attributes for that address and all is OK but every time I click on the Application Data folder it seems to replicate itself over and over. One error says that there is not enough space when I have over 65Gb free on that drive.

I installed Ubuntu on my computer a few months ago and created another partition for it on my 1TB hard drive. I didn't really care for Ubuntu so I decided to delete the partition it was on. That might have been a mistake. Well, now there's 87.68GB of free space on my hard disk that I can't use and I don't know how to add it back to my c: partition.
There was another post about this a couple years ago, but I don't understand the instructions and am not actually sure if it worked. Can someone explain how to do this, please? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I'm not familiar with partitioning disks. It was just the one time with Ubuntu.

I was connected to my neighbors wireless network via Linksys for several months, but after he had it shut off and reconnected they gave him a different IP address, ID and password. I have all the passwords and the signal shows up, but it is continually "aquiring a network address". Does he have to change something in his settings to allow access once again?

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop computer with Windows 7 and a 500GB hard drive. My hard drive is getting full. When I looked at the space left, I found out that my C drive and D drive are allocated the same amount of space (232 GB each). Can I allocate more space to the C drive without causing any issues? If so, what would be the proper amount to leave with the D drive.

I have a recent Win764 build less than 6 months old, seems to have a virus or something that is making the hard drive space dissapear. The accual contents are 36GB out of 300GB. The computer will display that there is only 3.75GB left out of 300GB. I ran windirstat and tree and it gives me the correct allocation of data. The data matches what is supposed to be on this drive, there is no random file that is taking up 275GB. Leads me to believe that its a Virus, and cannot find to much on the subject

1. I have a 500 gb HD C and using a empty 2 TB external Drive, it gets to a point (different each time) stops and says nt enough space.
2. This stopping of backking up is annoying in itself. So I hit to restart back up and instead of it continuing whare it left of from the other BU it begins a whole new Bakup. This Time I have 2003 zipped files while the last 2 times I had like 316 on one and 988 on another.
Is this just win 7 and its back ups? I have 2 other programs I can use Nero back up and Mameo, should I reformat disk and try one o them?

About 1 week from today, I installed my copy of Windows 7. I had 92.7 GB free of 123 GB by the end of the day after downloading/installing all of the programs I needed. (I'm ocd so I keep track of how much space I have in my (C) Drive after every download/install.So the next morning I turn my laptop on. What?! I suddenly have 90.8 GB free of 123 GB on my (C) Drive?!Now I'm sitting here a week later down to 88.9 GB free of 123 GB in my (C) Drive.Besides downloading/installing the things I needed, I also did Disk Cleanups where I got rid of of my Windows.old files (XP and Vista). I've also deleted all of my System Restore and Shadow Copies in the More Options tab. Could that be the reason why?

After installing Win 7 x64 my install was a bloated 20gb. This includes 8gb in the c:windows emp folder that I can't delete. After installing a few apps and games, I have 12gb free. I cannot account for 15gb of "missing space"
system restore is off.

I'm obviously brand new to the forums so I hope this is the right place for this. I should start with my type of drive; I have a 120gb Cherryville SSD from Intel serving as my C: Drive. Just the other night I had approximately 43GB left in my C: Drive (note this is incredibly low as well, but I was content). Last night I checked again and saw that I was down to 25! I performed a disk defrag and that actually decreased my storage to 23! I am absolutely puzzled as to the cause of this.
The only thing I have done between the time that I had over 40 and last night was update my visual BIOS (having nothing to do with my C: Drive at all) and download a simple XML update for Microsoft Expressions (which was measured in kilobytes). Granted I have done my fair share of updating .net framework and various other updates, but all of my major programs are on my hard drive, not my SSD. To put this into visual perspective, I'd like to share a photo showing around 25GB of space taken that is absolutely nowhere to be found, I find it hard to believe that Windows and a few programs can take up nearly 90GB of storage.

I have my laptop partitioned into 2 drives. One for system and one for everything else.On my system drive i have 60Gb and the D drive is 300ish. I have started to get the "Low resources" message on the C drive. I have looked around everywhere for the 60gb's and it gone. Vanished into thin air.I navigate to C:users and check the properties. it says there is 35gigs being used. Inside there userskcameron - thats me - it says used 34gigs.When i check through all of the libary folders inside i cannot find more then a few megs of stuff. so 34gigs is being used, but i cannot find it.anyone have any ideas, or tools i could use to check this out? Its to the point where i cannot open many things without the system getting angry. I could always re-format, but other then this problem everything else is find.

Last night I noticed it had turned the bar to red, and said I had only 12 GB left of 135 GB. Im not into video, music, games or anything else I know of that would use that much space. I surf the web, and keep some scanned and some text documents. A few months ago I carefully installed Windows 7, instead of Vista which my PC came with. No problems. I just now deleted the old Windows stuff, and that freed up 47 GB, so thats good. I suspect that my hard drive was partitioned during that installation of Windows 7, and I dont know that that is necessary. Can that be undone?
