I just purchased an ASUS all in one pc and on FIRST startup it said "Boot mngr is missing - press ctrl alt delete to restart." I called customer service to fix problem. It is fixed now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an ASUS G53SW-XN1 with Windows 7 64-bit OS from newegg and found out that the built-in webcam doesn't work. Upon further investigation I also found that there is no "Imaging device" listed in "Device Manager" yet the physical device is obviously there. I went to the ASUS support site to attain the driver for the webcam only to find that, for this model, there is no driver listed. I called ASUS about this and their tech was as surprised as I was over the lack of a driver for this model. He directed me to try the driver for similar models (G53JW, G73JH, and G73SW) but none of their drivers would work, and the G73SW model, as with my model (G53SW), didn't have a driver listed either.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've recently formatted my hard-drive on my desktop and reverted to Windows 7 from 8, for many reasons, but upon installation I was unable to connect to the internet through a wired connection. I checked 'Device Manager' and discovered that the Ethernet Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller and SM Bus Controller were all missing. Naturally, I went to [URL] and checked for a 64 bit Windows 7 Ethernet Driver, as it was the most important of the missing drivers; and downloaded a Realtek Ethernet Utility V2.0.2.1. I ran the Asus Setup in the folder, and the Utility installed. Having essentially no idea what I was doing, I went back and tried to manually find the drivers, thinking they may have been in the 'WIN7' folder of the .zip I downloaded. With no luck, I uninstalled the old drivers entirely from Device Manager, and restarted to see if Windows would install it correctly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a computer for free, a Dell Studio 1555. When I got it, it would try to boot, then come to a screen that said that bootmgr.exe was missing. Sometimes I got a message that said something like mpio.sys was corrupted or missing. I have a Win 7 disk, so I put it in and tried to repair the installation. Each time I ran it, it said that the repair had failed. I tried to reinstall windows 7, and It made it to the first restart in the process. It showed the "Starting Windows" screen, but the colors of the windows logo never appeared, then I got the missing bootmgr screen. I decided to install Ubuntu and see if that worked, and it did (I installed it alongside the Windows installation). It was Ubuntu 10.04. I thought, "OK, so i'll just use this as a Linux machine"...and I decided to go back and reinstall so that I could use the entire hard drive. It never worked correctly again. Each subsequent time that I installed Ubuntu, I was told something along the lines of "Gnome Power Manager did not install correctly" and got a slow and choppy Ubuntu installation.Tried to install 11.10, and it failed completely. I opened the Ubuntu live from my usb drive, and opened the disk utility. I now cannot format, reformat, partition, or delete partitions on the drive. Is all of this just a case of a hard drive on its last legs, or is there something else going on here?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's been a while, but I built my first PC a couple of months ago. So far everything works great. But now, My DVD drive doesn't show up in My Computer. I checked Device Manager, and I have an error for my driver. Here is the error:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
I have tried using Driver Fusion to wipe out all drivers and reinstall with no change. The drive shows up in BIOS so it's not a connection problem. I'd prefer not to reinstall the OS....
So ive been getting the black screen with movable cursor lately and have tried many a methods to remove it i tried checking in my event log for something, and this is waht it said "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:dtsoftbus01" So what does this mean and how can i fix this?

Log files show below that 4 things failed to load. Tuesday couldn't boot up PC again.. tried to restart like 4-5 times.. Finally comes up and in the logs there's numerous things that failed to load. Running a sfc /scannow right now.

I realized some of these are not Windows 7 related but most are. While the computer "works", I do experience frequent reboots and freezes. Perhaps some of these driver loading failures are part of the cause of my issues.
I cannot boot into Windows because it says that the file /boot/BCD is missing with an error code of 0x0000007. If I run Repair from my installation disk and in System Recovery Options, it says that it has detected problems and asks if I want to repair it. The items it wants to repair are: " The following startup option will be repaired:Name: {bootmgr}Identifier: {9DEA862C-5CDD-4E70-ACC1-F32B344D4795}

No OS files found on disk.
Repair action: Partition table repair
Result: Failed. Error code: 0x3bc3
I think that this is because Startup Repair is trying to fix the thumbdrive that I keep my Windows 7 install files in. I am overseas now and as my computer does not have an internal optical disk drive and my external drive is back home, thus using my thumbdrive is the only way to access the repair console.
I tried running a few commands, namely:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Fixmbr and fixboot work, but when I run RebuildBCD, it detects C:Windows as having a Windows installation, but if I type Y(yes) or A(all), it says that the requested system device cannot be found.
I have dual boot with Xp and windows 7.when i log into my Xp all the restore points being deleted from windows 7.when i check the disk management information in 7 it shows windows 7 create a logical drive with my Xp primary drive.even i am hide the drive from both windows means Xp drive from windows 7 and vice verse.So i like to unmount or remove the drive partition of windows 7 from Xp and Xp primary from windows 7.So that they dont affect each others system files with being deleted the partitions.

It was running super slow the other night so I shut it down and re booted. a screen promted me with something like "computer was unable to start, need to run repair" so i ran the repair and it timed out and told me i need to bring computer the the repair shop or something.
I unscrewed the back and noticed the Ram was not seated so I seated it and made sure HDD was seated and tried to reboot but now it just takes a very long time to boot and only get to the login screen but the login section where you enter password doesnt appear and only shows my wallpaper with very low resolution mouse cursor.
I tried to to boot in safe mode, does the same thing, I tried a system restore but wont let me, it just goes right to the blank login screen with low resolution. bad hard drive? bad ram? idk what to do its a $1700 laptop out of warranty.
We have a Windows 2003 Domain and just got some new Windows 7 professional machines.. The problem I am having is that the Accessories, Startup, and maybe other folders are missing from the start menu..
If I login as the Domain admin I get them.. The user is setup as a local machine admin, but they are missing.. We are not blocking anything in Group policy on the domain that I can see.. I have looked numerous times. everyone keeps pointing to the folder being hidden..
This is not the case.. Is there a domain level policy that controls this??

View 4 Replies View Relatedcaught what looked like a bug, today--from an emial, I'm guessing-- everything slowed down until it virtually stopped and I manually powered down/into safe mode to work on it. It cost me an entire am to run thru all my virus 'catchers' (and came up with exactly NOTHING to show for it!!) whatever it was has, I guess, been erradicated, as everything feels back to normal.everything looks ok(except a couple of desktop icons were rearranged--but that can/does happen anyway). As I said--every looks/seems to be ok. However when I went into 'start' all the info that should be showing on the left side of that 1st page is blank! all the names on the right seems ok/present. AND when I go to 'all progs' there are no "obvious' omissions(not that I'm sure I'd recognize that one!)
I've been using comodo bkup(goes off like every night and is NOT an online bkup) and NOW, when I actually need it to get the 5/12 data, I cannot access it(but that's grist for a later discussion!!!!).so there are, apparently, for all intents/purposes NO backups to pull from. it only tells me "unabgle to open bkup file"... no matter which entry I highlight.This was(supposedly) setup by the tech that did the work on this new box so it 'should' have been ok(NOT!!!).any insight into what I can/need to do to get the backup part to work properly for the restore part CAN work?
